The day after Bunny returned from the outpost, Sunny had already synchronized the arranged training schedule to her data terminal.

She skimmed through it. The daily load looked manageable. Nearly every sentinel had a teaching slot, since they still had to rotate out on patrol.

Guidance sessions remained limited to one person per day, usually scheduled in the evening.

Because of the trap incident, most of the sentinels had been divided into teams and sent out to inspect the various outposts. Inside the base, the only ones left to instruct her were Brandon and Astin.

Oh—and one unfortunate young man currently locked in confinement: Liam.

Bunny put the pumpkin soup Xander had prepared for her into the microwave. Something nudged at her slipper.

She looked down and found Brandon’s little dog.

She gave its head an absent scratch. "Morning, cutie."

Carrying her sandwich to the table, she sat down. The dog obediently settled beside her chair, tongue lolling.

"Miss Bunny, you’re up." A youthful voice that still carried a grandmotherly softness came from the doorway. Brandon had just finished morning training.

Inside the base, Bunny was probably the only one who slept until the sun was high every day.

They exchanged a few casual words.

"The training load today isn’t heavy. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, just tell me."

"Okay."

Bunny bent to retrieve the slipper that had slipped off her foot—only to discover the dog had already carried it a short distance away and was cheerfully nosing and chewing on it.

And here I was just calling you a good boy.

Brandon shot the animal a look, then turned back to apologize.

"Sorry about that. It just really likes your scent."

Puppies were usually mischievous.

Curious, she asked, "Does it have a name?"

"Yeah. Chopper."

That was... an unusual choice of name. Somehow, it sounded strangely familiar.

Bunny made soft kissing sounds at it. "Can it eat ordinary food?"

Chopper promptly brought the slipper back, blinked its big dog eyes at her, and wagged its tail with enthusiasm.

"It can, but there’s no need."

The dog suddenly stood, fetched a clean hand towel for her, and even dropped a scrap of trash into the recycling bin on its way back.

Holy— this dog was smart. It probably handed people toilet paper when it went to the bathroom.

"It can do so many things," she marveled.

Brandon’s lips curved into a smile that was hard to read.

"That’s right. Chopper can also change size—get bigger or smaller whenever it wants."

Bunny knew that spirit forms could freely change their size, but somehow, the way he had phrased that sentence sounded oddly suggestive.

After breakfast, Bunny officially began her training under Brandon’s supervision.

They were inside a physical-conditioning pod equipped with various machines designed to strengthen the body’s core. As usual, they started with a warm-up.

Brandon told her to run ten laps first.

Chopper happily trotted alongside her, occasionally stopping to wait whenever she fell behind.

"Woof, woof!"

(Mommy, you’re so slow!)

After the long-distance run came bench presses, pull-ups, sit-up jumps, and a series of other exercises.

Fifty repetitions per set.

Three sets in total.

Brandon was extremely strict. He wouldn’t count a repetition unless her form was absolutely correct. If her posture was wrong, she had to do it again.

By the time she made it through the entire routine, Bunny’s legs felt as though they had been pickled in vinegar.

The longer she stared at Brandon’s face, the more he resembled one of those terrifying military-training instructors.

After finally surviving three brutal rounds of planks, Bunny’s body gave out.

Flop.

She collapsed onto the rubber floor like a lifeless corpse. Brandon crouched beside her, still wearing that gentle smile.

"Get up. Keep going."

Bunny immediately started begging for mercy.

"Just let me rest for a little while. Just a few minutes, okay?"

Brandon looked down at Bunny sprawled on the floor, panting like a stranded fish, and helplessly shook his head.

"All right. You can rest for ten minutes."

She’s already this exhausted? What am I going to do with her later?

The puppy was genuinely worried, too. The instant the ten minutes were up, Brandon called her back to work.

"Sit-ups."

He knelt over her feet, pinning them firmly in place while gripping her ankles with both hands.

With nowhere to cheat, Bunny had no choice but to rely entirely on her abdominal and lower-back strength.

This guy isn’t giving me even the slightest opportunity to slack off!

Bunny wriggled and struggled like a determined little worm. After fifty sit-ups, she was completely spent.

"Miss Bunny, there are still fifty more."

That horrifying voice of doom came again. Bunny immediately gave up. She sprawled flat on the floor and refused to move, pretending she had already died.

Her whole body seemed to be saying:

I can’t do it anymore. What are you going to do about it?

Her chest rose and fell rapidly with each breath. Sweat-darkened strands of hair clung to her cheeks, while exertion had left her face flushed.

Her fitted workout clothes followed the lines of her waist, and a bead of sweat slipped mischievously from her collarbone toward her neckline.

From Brandon’s downward angle, every detail was impossible to miss.

This is already enough to make me think about some dirty things...

He sighed inwardly and decided to change his motivational strategy.

"How about this? Once we’re finished training today, I’ll make you a little cake."

He had already figured out that Bunny was a serious foodie.

A tiny glutton.

With food ingredients so scarce in this era, desserts and cakes requiring several different ingredients were considered extravagant luxuries.

Even on Central Terra, they were something reserved for the wealthy.

Especially cocoa. The fruit had already gone extinct.

And Bunny absolutely loved sweets.

Sure enough, the woman who had been playing dead on the floor immediately opened her eyes.

"Really? Then I want chocolate flavor."

"Okay. I’ll make whatever you want."

The moment food was involved, Bunny suddenly found a miraculous reserve of energy.

Heaven only knew what kind of miserable life she’d been living on Central.

Every day had been nothing but compressed rations and canned meals. And on top of that, she had to provide mental guidance for more sentinels than she could comfortably handle.

The reason was simple.

The resources of Terra were controlled by a tiny minority. Sentinels and Guides were merely tools used by the ruling class to maintain their power. They were all essentially workers being exploited.

The only difference was whether you were considered a high-grade worker or a low-grade one.

After completing the day’s training quota, Bunny felt as though every muscle in her body had been peeled apart.

Still, they said strict teachers produced capable students.

She could understand that much.

After showering, Bunny decided to use the remaining time to arrange her new guidance room.

But as she passed a room at the very end of the corridor, something caught her attention.

The doorknob was covered in a thick layer of dust.

Judging by the state of it, no one had lived in there for a very long time.
