Bunny’s mind detonated with a sharp buzz. "Like hell I do—get the fuck away from me!"

She realized something was seriously wrong with Cyrus. His body burned with unnatural heat. Thick black strands of mental energy were spilling from his spiritual sea, coiling and knotting together like massive pythons.

His pupils were clouded with an abnormal black haze and bloodshot veins.

What was happening to him?

Cyrus was far from normal right now. His spiritual sea had been pushed to the brink by Chi’s backlash.

Sharp, violent, cataclysmic pain tore through him again and again, shredding what little remaining reason he still possessed.

Chi was raging and dissatisfied.

It had already grown to its complete form by devouring everything in its path. Ordinary suppressants no longer worked on it. They could no longer contain its hunger.

Bunny’s guide pheromones had given it its first taste of something truly exquisite—and that single taste had driven it completely feral.

It wanted to mark her thoroughly and claim her exclusively.

"Bunny..."

He spoke her name without hesitation. When she looked up, she met the lowered sweep of his lashes. The desire inside those eyes surged like a tsunami.

"Do you know what I like most?"

Warm fingertips brushed the corner of her mouth. "It’s the way you look at me with that shocked, disbelieving expression—especially when you’re scared. And the way you blush... like a startled little white rabbit..."

"Pervert!"

She tore her other hand free and slapped him across the face with full force. She held nothing back.

The sharp crack echoed. A clear red handprint bloomed instantly on his cheek, followed by a burning sting.

The world went silent.

Cyrus turned his face slowly. In the next instant, the familiar cold indifference returned, as if the earlier madness had never existed. He released her.

"Still not leaving? Do you need me to walk you back?"

It was as though the twisted version of him had been nothing more than a hallucination.

Bunny was terrified. She no longer cared whether his condition was normal or not. She bolted for her bedroom and slammed the lock shut with a heavy click.

Her heart was still hammering. The heavy sound of his breathing, the scorching heat of his body, the wild hunger churning in those pitch-black eyes—all of it replayed in her mind like a relentless film, making her fingertips tremble.

"Fucking pervert..."

She cursed through gritted teeth and made a firm decision: from now on she would stay as far away from Cyrus as humanly possible.

Cyrus watched her fleeing back with calm eyes. Only the extreme tension in his muscles and the white-knuckled grip of his fists betrayed how hard he was fighting to suppress the violent upheaval inside his spiritual sea.

His spirit form, Chi, was still screaming for him to go after her and reclaim her. It was in agony. It was furious.

This was the price of power.

He found it strange. Before Bunny, the family had tried matching him with many different guides and their pheromones.

None of them had ever stirred even a flicker of interest in Chi.

This ancient divine beast was extraordinarily selective. His spiritual sea was deep as a black hole, and he himself was on the verge of being completely devoured by the backlash.

There was something special about Bunny’s scent—something different from every other guide, every other woman, he had ever encountered.

It could awaken, or rather provoke, instincts buried deep in his genes, the way a fetus returns to the amniotic fluid of the womb.

The backlash continued.

Ordinary suppressants were completely useless now. He needed release—violent, forceful release.

Cyrus returned to his room and resumed what he had been forced to interrupt earlier.

His secret... she still could not be allowed to know it.

--- Central Terra – Core Settlement Zone – Rosefield Estate ---

Inside the opulent European-style manor, the warm glow of an artificial sun spilled across the edge of a clear blue swimming pool. The surrounding flowerbeds were filled with rare blossoms and greenery—all transgenic products cultivated by the Simons Bionics Corporation.

The estate sprawled across a vast area. There were five open-air gardens of various sizes alone, not to mention the main residence that had been built to resemble a palace.

To shield against the high concentrations of methane radiation on Terra, the entire estate was covered by the latest model of blue-light absorption barrier.

A small military shuttle pierced through the atmosphere and streaked like a beam of light between the steel forests of the city. Aside from the howl of wind and the roar of engines, the only thing visible was a dull gray sky.

Cold, damp acid rain carried the scent of rust as it hammered against the broken floating tracks of the lower city, sending up sprays of fluorescent blue droplets.

Skyscrapers stabbed through the clouds. The once-rolling holographic advertisements had long since fragmented into corrupted code; red and green light strips flickered madly across the charred glass curtain walls.

Every person on Terra recognized that logo: Simons Bionics.

"Simons’s latest-generation holographic projection—hundreds of millions of virtual neurons, now with simulated tactile feedback—delivers the most authentic experience..."

Humans remained social creatures. Even on Central Terra, far removed from the immediate threats of survival, loneliness was a nightmare that could never be completely erased.

Especially for the clones.

The black code etched behind each ear marked them forever as outsiders who would never receive true acceptance from the community. Even the four bases that formed the double helix of DNA—A, T, C, G—simply repeated someone else’s sequence over and over.

Clones were deliberately engineered without reproductive capability. The eggs and sperm inside their bodies remained inert—a permanent shackle the "genetic engineers" had never been able to break when manufacturing these products.

They only needed clones to serve as the lowest stratum of society and as disposable labor.

Clones were born inferior.

Except, of course, for Alion.

The shuttle glided slowly into the luxurious estate. Alion, dressed in a severe black uniform, stepped into the main hall under the escort of soldiers. A maid led him to the door of Commander Mikado’s study.

Alion removed his gloves and knocked lightly.

"Enter."

The voice that answered was deep and powerful, carrying a faint edge of age and weariness.

Alion pushed the door open and sat properly on the sofa opposite the desk. The maid soon brought two cups of steaming eggnog.

Mikado, Supreme Commander of the United Nations Military, was already in his middle years. He and his wife had managed to conceive only one child—the spoiled and domineering Yuna.

Silver had begun to touch the man’s temples. The lines at the corners of his eyes spoke of long years of hardship. The formal general’s uniform radiated quiet authority; the golden sun insignia on his shoulder boards—symbol of the military’s highest power—bore two more curved stripes than Alion’s.

"The situation has been relatively stable lately, I take it?"

Alion gave a slight nod. "Aside from the frequent personnel turnover in the West One, the other sentinel towers remain comparatively steady."

"In the past three months, there have been no fewer than a hundred alien attacks on energy stations. According to the latest intelligence, they have even begun setting traps to actively lure humans."

Mikado’s brow furrowed. The fountain pen in his hand paused, allowing a deep blot of ink to spread across the paper.

"Resources on Terra are limited. Insufficient geothermal energy means power production cannot be sustained."

He rose, walked to the rows of bookshelves, and took down a volume titled Encyclopedia of Earth—a precious relic transferred from the dying planet during the Great Migration.

Mikado’s gaze lingered for a moment on the map of the galaxy before he exhaled a quiet sigh.

"Within the entire Milky Way, there is no second Earth suitable for human habitation."

"Alion... where do you believe humanity’s future lies?"

Caught off guard by the sudden question, Alion froze for a second. He set down his teacup and thought for several moments.
