The maids continued admiring Javier from a distance, their eyes sparkling with dreamy fascination. But the moment the grand door of the manor creaked open, they scrambled to grab their brooms and baskets, pretending to be hard at work while stealing glances toward the entrance.
Delya stepped out gracefully, her movements soft and unhurried. She hugged her chocolate jar close to her chest, wearing a simple yet elegant purple dress that flowed around her like water. The fabric was light and airy, with a slightly puffy skirt that swayed gently with each step, revealing glimpses of her pale, porcelain skin.
Her small feet were adorned with delicate strap heels, each step light and graceful. Her slender fingers curled around the jar, her full lips curved into a gentle, dreamy smile, and her beautiful face was framed by her soft features, with two small, elegant horns peeking through her hair.
She paused at the top of the stairs, glancing around before her gaze landed on Javier in the distance. Her smile widened, her eyes softening with warmth.
"Ah~ Danna-sama~"
She began walking toward him, her skirt swaying with each step, her presence ethereal and captivating.
The new household maids watched her pass, their eyes trailing after her in awe. The first maid let out a soft, wistful sigh.
"How could I forget about her? The demon princess. Our prince’s fourth fiancée. She’s so lucky... A demon girl able to be his partner..."
The second maid nodded, her voice carrying a hint of envy. "Look at her... that dress, that smile, that graceful way she walks. She’s like a living doll."
The third maid let out a disappointed exhale, her shoulders slumping. "We don’t stand a chance, do we? Every single one of Prince Javier’s fiancées is the most beautiful woman you could ever imagine."
"Even the cheeky cat princess is adorable and beautiful in her own way. And I heard the new princess from the other continent is even more stunning."
"Mm... His Highness truly has impeccable taste," the fifth maid sighed, leaning on her broom. "Every one of them is gorgeous. There’s no way any of us could compete with that."
One of the maids let out a soft, defeated mumble. "All we can do is watch from afar and admire him... like the rest of Armand."
The first maid smiled softly, her voice carrying a note of admiration as she tended to the flower bed. "Among all of Prince Javier’s harem, Miss Liana is truly the most beautiful. Not to mention, she’s an elf. That ethereal grace, that silver hair, those emerald eyes... she’s like a goddess~"
The second maid nodded, her voice thoughtful. "Mm~ And Miss Gloria is stunning too. She has the biggest breasts among all the fiancées. Plus, she’s half human and half elf. That combination gives her a unique beauty that’s hard to match."
"Eh? Really?" the third maid asked, her eyes widening with curiosity.
"Yes. Miss Liana and Miss Gloria are cousins, you know."
"Oh..."
The third maid leaned in closer, a knowing smile spreading across her lips as she lowered her voice. "And don’t forget, our Sovereign also married an elf girl. Not to mention, the Elven Queen herself. Can you believe it?"
The fifth maid’s eyes widened. "Oh! You mean Queen Mylezra, right? Our Sovereign’s fifth wife? Yeah... She’s also Miss Liana and Miss Gloria’s aunt."
"E... Ehhhh!?" the third maid exclaimed, her broom nearly slipping from her hands.
The first maid glanced at her while gently tending the flower bed. "You didn’t know?"
The third maid shook her head, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I... I wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t told me..."
Just as they were about to continue their quiet admiration, the sound of firm footsteps echoed from the path behind them. The maids froze, their hands tightening around their brooms as they turned to see Anna approaching.
She stopped in front of them, crossing her arms over her chest, her sharp eyes narrowing with clear displeasure. Her maid uniform was perfectly pressed, her apron crisp and clean, her posture rigid with authority.
"And what exactly do you all think you’re doing? I don’t recall assigning any of you to stand around and gossip about the royal family’s personal affairs."
The maids flinched, quickly bowing their heads. "W... we were just..."
Anna’s eyes swept over them, her voice cold and scolding. "Just what? Standing around chattering like a flock of birds? The walkways are still covered in leaves. The flower beds haven’t been watered. And the fountain area hasn’t been polished yet."
She took a step forward, her voice dropping into a tone of quiet discipline.
"If Mrs. Erinette were to see this, she would not be pleased. You were assigned a simple task, nothing more. Sweep, water, polish, and tend. That’s all. And yet here you are, wasting your work hours on idle chatter. Do you have any idea how fortunate you are to be serving the Armand family? Do you know how many people would dream of having the opportunity to serve in this household? The pay you receive, the meals you eat, the safety of these walls, the respect that comes with wearing that uniform... all of it is a privilege. A privilege most people in this nation could only dream of."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over them one by one.
"The Armand family has given us the honor of serving them, and that honor comes with responsibility. We do not slack off. We do not gossip about matters that are not our concern. We do our jobs with pride and diligence."
She pointed toward the main path. "Now, all of you, back to work. And if I catch any of you slacking off again, I’ll personally report it to Mrs. Erinette myself."
The maids scrambled, grabbing their brooms and baskets in a flurry of movement. "Y... yes, Miss Anna! Right away!"
They hurried off to their tasks, casting nervous glances over their shoulders as they went.
Anna let out a long, tired exhale, shaking her head slowly as she watched them scatter like startled birds.
"Honestly... young maids these days get distracted far too easily."
She glanced around the courtyard, her eyes scanning the area out of habit, before her gaze landed on Javier in the distance. He was still by the portable grill, laughing with Buddy as Delya approached him with her chocolate jar.
Crap...
She turned quickly, fastening her pace toward the manor door.
Just a little bit more... just a little bit more...
But her steps paused when she heard a voice calling from near her ear, smooth and teasing.
"Yo, Anna. Come here."
Anna sighed in frustration, her shoulders slumping slightly before she turned and walked toward Javier in the distance.
Sigh... Another trouble... and another glare from the other maids... especially the head of household maid... Miss Erisa...
He can call any maid he wants, but it’s always me...
