Crossing into Layer 0 did not feel like ascending; it felt like being systematically stripped of color, weight, and history. The absolute light of Heaven was not warm. It was sterile, blinding, and heavy with absolute order, a crushing pressure designed to erase anything that deviated from its perfect blueprint.
Mael hit the marble floor of the gatehouse on one knee, his golden network threads flaring violently as they fought to maintain cohesion. Around him, the twelve members of his vanguard gasped for breath. Remnant collapsed outright, his partially unmade body weeping pale, divine light against the pristine stone. Even Echo’s shadowy silhouette flickered like a dying candle under the weight of Heaven’s baseline atmosphere.
"Hold," Mael commanded, his voice vibrating through the Soul Tether rather than the air.
He forced himself to stand, every joint grinding against the stifling weight of the realm. His gold-flecked eyes adjusted, taking in their surroundings, they stood within a colossal circular amphitheater carved from flawless white alabaster. Skyward, there was no sun, only a brilliant, pulsing nexus of ten concentric rings of light suspended in an endless pale blue void the Sephiroth.
The lowest ring, Malkuth, burned directly above them, casting down a column of pure, oppressive force that anchored into the floor.

"This is Malkuth," Remnant whispered, forcing himself up with agonizing slowness. "The Tenth Sphere. The anchor point. If it anchors here, it cascades downward into Hell..."
"It’s not just an anchor," Mael said, narrowing his eyes as his eyes mapped the glowing lattice lines connecting the sphere to the hall. "It’s a compiler. It’s writing divine code directly into reality."
"Host incoming," Seraph snapped, her shadow-flame blades igniting with a dull, suppressed hiss.
From the perimeter of the white hall, figures materialized. They were not angels of meat and feather, but construct warriors crystalline visual manifestations of pure law. They carried longspears made of hard light, their faces featureless mirrors reflecting Mael’s distorted form. There were hundreds of them, moving in terrifying, synchronized perfection.
"They don’t have souls," Echo reported, her voice buzzing with static. "No desire, no choice, no passion. Soul Forge cannot harvest them."
"Then we don’t harvest them," Mael said, extending his hand. "We override them."
He reached out through the tether. Across seven layers of Hell, through the gate, his mind connected back to Cinderholm, to the Iron Courts, to the Pit, and to Lucifer’s quiet, primordial power holding the anchor in the garden. Five million minds answered his call.
Soul Creation: System Incursion.
Golden light erupted from Mael’s chest in a blinding shockwave. The lattice of gold veins on his skin expanded outward, throwing golden threads through the air like liquid copper. The nearest dozen crystalline constructs lunged, spears poised to pierce his core, but the moment their light-weapons touched Mael’s golden threads, the network claimed them.
Not by destroying them, but by flooding their binary logic with five million voices choosing, fighting, loving, and surviving.
The lead construct froze. The mirror on its face cracked. It dropped its spear, raised its hands, and looked at them with a sudden, agonizing burst of self-awareness.

"Advance!" Seraph roared, charging forward alongside Wrath and Lust. The demon kings fought like beasts unleashed, their demonic power bolstered by the steady flow of energy from the sub-networks behind them.
Mael didn’t look at the battle. He turned his gaze entirely to the center of the hall, where the massive beam of light connected Malkuth to the ground.
He walked toward it. With every step, the pressure doubled. Heaven’s law screamed at his demonic lineage to break, to dissolve, to bow. His crown-like horns cracked under the force. His skin bled golden light, through the bond, a voice echoed sharp and clear in his mind.
’Don’t you dare break, Mael.’ Zara, he could feel her standing in the command chamber in Cinderholm, her hand on the central node, pouring every ounce of her shadow-essence and political will into keeping the network stable from the home front. ’I’m managing the kings. I’m holding the houses, you focus on the sky.’
Mael smiled, his fangs catching the harsh white light. "I hear you, Queen."
He reached the central beam of Malkuth and plunged his bare hand into the raw column of divine law.
Instantly, a scream tearing from his throat, Mael was pulled into the architecture of Heaven itself.
He stood in a realm of pure geometry.
Floating in the endless void before him was the source code of Malkuth, a sprawling, infinitely complex web of white light that dictated how matter, souls, and energy ought to behave according to the Throne.
And in the center of that web stood a guardian.
It was an entity of immense scale, composed of six overlapping rings of golden eyes and burning wings, a Seraph of the First Circle.
"ANOMALY," the Seraph’s voice boomed, resounding not as sound, but as an absolute truth that shook Mael’s soul to its foundation. "YOU ARE A CORRUPTION OF CREATION. A LESSER DEMON WEARING MAN-MADE LOGIC. CEASE."
"I’m not a corruption," Mael said, stepping forward in the digital expanse. The gold threads on his arms flared bright, pulsing with the power of Lucifer’s ancient light and the collective strength of five million souls. "I’m an update."
"THE THRONE DOES NOT ACCEPT UNAUTHORIZED EDITS."
The Seraph raised a hand of blinding light, and a wave of absolute erasure swept toward Mael, intending to unmake his system, his skills, and his existence from the fabric of reality.
Mael didn’t evade, he didn’t build a shield.
He raised both hands and slammed his consciousness directly into the core framework of Malkuth.

"You built your architecture on ten static spheres!" Mael shouted into the blinding light, his skin tearing open as gold light poured out like liquid sun. "You built a system that assumes creation is finished! But creation isn’t a statue! It’s a network!"
The wave of erasure hit him and split.
The five million minds bound to Mael took the brunt of the divine force, distributing the damage across a vast, resilient matrix. A fraction of a fraction of pain felt by five million is nothing. The network absorbed the blow and channeled it back through the golden threads, driving Mael’s code deep into the heart of Malkuth.
The Seraph’s golden eyes widened in genuine horror as white light began turning gold.
"WHAT IS THIS?" the guardian cried, its wings shuddering as the divine code began to rewrite itself. "THIS IS NOT ORDER! THIS IS... CHOICES!"
"It’s a covenant," Mael growled.
He drove his shoulder into the core of the sphere, his Stage 4 body shattering and reforming at the particle level. The golden threads wove themselves directly into the divine geometry of Malkuth, replacing its rigid commands with fluid, choice-driven parameters.

[MALKUTH RE-LINKED]
[NEW NODE ESTABLISHED: THE TENTH SPHERIC NETWORK]
A violent tremor shook the entire dimension. The beam of light pinning Heaven to Layer 0 shifted from harsh, blinding white to a warm, resonant gold.
In the hall outside, the remaining crystalline constructs stopped mid-strike. The light in their eyes turned soft, golden, and complex. They lowered their weapons, looking at their hands in wonder.
In the geometric realm, the massive Seraph shuddered. Its golden eyes blinked, the absolute command in its mind faltering as it suddenly felt connected to something vast, messy, and infinitely alive.
"You..." the Seraph whispered, its massive wings sagging. "You didn’t destroy the sphere..."
"I made it Node Eight," Mael panted, dropping to his knees as the digital expanse dissolved around him, returning him to the physical hall.
[NOTIFICATION: SEPHIROTH PROTOCOL INTERRUPTED]
[MALKUTH HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO A NETWORK RELAY]
[STAGE 5 THRESHOLD: 100% REACHED]
[EVOLUTION INITIATING...]
Mael gasped as his consciousness expanded past the boundaries of his physical form. He felt Cinderholm. He felt the Ashfields. He felt the Iron Courts. He felt Zara’s heartbeat as clearly as his own and now, he felt the lower reaches of Heaven itself.
His golden veins settled into his flesh, leaving translucent, glowing runes etched across his skin. His crown of horns fully crystallized into a radiant halo of golden light and abyssal shadow.
He had not just survived Stage 5; he had turned Heaven’s own weapon into an extension of his soul.
Echo hurried to his side, her eyes wide as she scanned his new parameters. "Mael... Malkuth is ours. The down-cascade to Hell has stopped. But..."
She pointed upward.
Above them, through the alabaster ceiling, the remaining nine spheres of the Sephiroth were blazing with furious, blinding light. The higher circles had realized what happened. The Throne was mobilizing.
"They know," Remnant said, holding his chest, though the golden light now radiating from Mael was visibly healing his unmade form. "The Archangels won’t send constructs next time, Mael. They will come themselves."
Mael stood, turning his gaze toward the shining path leading upward into the higher spheres of Heaven. He reached back through the thread, leaving a brief, reassuring pulse for Zara before focusing his attention ahead.
"Let them come," Mael said, his voice echoing with the resonance of five million souls. "We have nine more nodes to claim."
