Reborn in hell with a skill creation system
Chapter 68: The Passion Of NetzachThe gateway from Hod to Netzach did not open onto stone or glass. It spilled the vanguard directly into a domain of endless, thrumming light that felt unnervingly hot against their skin.
Where Hod was cold, silent logic, Netzach the Seventh Sphere was raw energy, victory, and relentless emotion. The sky above was a swirling tempest of deep crimson and radiant amber. Mountains of crystallized force rose from a sea of liquid fire, and the ambient atmosphere rang with an overwhelming, celestial chorus that sounded less like praise and more like a war cry.
[WARNING: AMBIENT ENERGY OVERLOAD]
[DOMAINS DETECTED: ABSOLUTE VICTORY / UNYIELDING PASSION]
[EMOTIONAL DENSITY: EXTREME]
"This sphere..." Wrath grinned, his fangs bared as the crimson air touched his skin. The golden network threads running through his body blazed bright red, amplifying his demonic power instantly. "I like this one."
"Don’t get drunk on it," Seraph cautioned, though her shadow-flame blades were flaring twice their normal size, reacting to the ambient passion of the realm. "It’s feeding our instincts, trying to turn our focus into wild, uncoordinated rage."
"She’s right," Mael said, his voice echoing with the unified authority of his five million bound souls. His halo of gold and shadow spun at a steady cadence, maintaining absolute control over the emotional surge. "Netzach is the sphere of victory. If we lose discipline and fight blindly, its architecture will deem us defeated by default."
From the top of a crystalline peak ahead, a shape descended.
It did not march, nor did it float. It fell like a meteor, striking the crimson earth with a shockwave that shattered the surrounding crystal spires.
When the dust cleared, a tall, striking figure stood before them. It was a Virtue Archangel, clad in bronze armor etched with radiant runes of triumph. In its right hand, it held a massive spear woven from solar fire; in its left, a shield that bore the crest of an unbroken sun. Unlike the previous guardians, this angel did not look like an unfeeling machine or an illusion. Its eyes burned with a fierce, terrifying passion.
"I AM ARIEL," the Archangel roared, its voice shaking the very foundation of the Seventh Sphere. "CHAMPION OF THE SEVENTH CIRCLE! HERE, WE DO NOT REASON, NOR DO WE COMPUTE. WE STRIVE! ONLY THE UNYIELDING DESERVE TO STAND IN HEAVEN!"
"Then let’s strive," Wrath bellowed, launching himself forward in a blur of shadow and golden-red fire.
"Wrath, wait!" Seraph yelled, darting after him to provide cover.
Wrath’s claw struck Ariel’s sun-shield with a force that split the ground beneath them. But the Archangel didn’t even slide back an inch. Ariel’s eyes blazed with intense emotion, and with a single flick of its solar spear, it sent Wrath crashing back through two crystalline spires.
"YOUR PASSION IS IMPERFECT!" Ariel declared, stepping forward as the red sky began to rain spears of solar light down upon the vanguard. "IT IS BORN OF DEMONIC HUNGER AND MORTAL DESPAIR! IT CANNOT OVERCOME DIVINE TRIUMPH!"
Mael raised his hand, channeling energy from the sub-networks in Hell.
Soul Skill: Domain Anchor.
A barrier of golden light snapped into existence above the vanguard, absorbing the rain of solar spears. But Mael could feel the strain, Netzach was constantly trying to rewrite the network’s intent, attempting to turn the five million souls’ shared purpose into chaotic, self-destructive ambition.
’Mael,’ Echo called out, her form flickering with crimson static. ’Ariel’s power isn’t drawn from a central core like the previous spheres. It’s drawn directly from the concept of Victory itself. The more we fight it head-on, the stronger it grows because it feeds on conflict!’
’Then we don’t fight to defeat it,’ Mael realized.
He reached across the tether, connecting to Zara in the Iron Courts.
’Zara. Send me the core resonance of the Pit.’
Through the bond, Zara felt his thought instantly. ’The Pit? Mael, that’s raw survival. It’s chaotic.’
’It’s not just survival,’ Mael replied. ’It’s the refusal to die. That’s the passion we need.’
Zara didn’t hesitate. She slammed her hand onto the central node in Cinderholm, drawing from the memory of every hatchling that had ever clawed its way out of the mud, every slave that had broken its chains, and every demon that had chosen to dream of something better.
A surge of pure, unrefined, stubborn vitality poured through the tether into Mael’s core.
Mael stepped past Wrath and Seraph, his golden runes shifting from a refined grid into a blazing, living wildfire of gold and shadow.
Ariel raised its solar spear, thrusting it straight at Mael’s chest with the full weight of the sphere’s absolute victory behind the strike. "VANISH, LESSER DEMON!"
Mael didn’t dodge, he grabbed the burning shaft of the solar spear with his bare left hand.
Divine fire hissed and crackled against his palm, tearing at his flesh, but Mael’s grip did not slip. He looked Ariel dead in its burning eyes.
"You call your triumph absolute because you’ve never had to fight from the bottom," Mael said, his voice echoing with five million voices. "Your victory is easy. Ours is earned."
Soul Creation: Passion Rewire.
Golden threads burst from Mael’s bleeding hand, wrapping around the solar spear and climbing rapidly onto Ariel’s bronze armor. The sheer volume of raw, defiant survival energy flooded the Archangel’s divine consciousness.
Ariel gasped, its fierce expression faltering as it felt the reality of Hell’s struggle the pain, the endurance, the messy, unyielding desire to live despite a cosmos that wanted them erased.
"THIS... THIS IS NOT TRIUMPH," Ariel stammered, its knees buckling under the weight of five million wills that refused to break. "THIS IS... PERSEVERANCE!"
"That’s real victory," Mael said softly.
He drove his right fist into Ariel’s chestplate.
The bronze armor shattered into shimmering dust. Golden light exploded through the Seventh Sphere as the network claimed Netzach. The tempestuous red sky calmed into a brilliant, triumphant rose-gold, and the liquid fire below hardened into solid roads of shining amber.
[NETZACH OVERRIDDEN]
[NODE ELEVEN ESTABLISHED]
[FOUR SPHERES CLAIMED]
Ariel fell to one knee, its solar spear dissolving into warm golden light that merged into Mael’s network. The Archangel looked up, its burning eyes now soft and clear. "Go... Sovereign. The Sixth Sphere, Tiphereth, lies ahead. But beware... Michael stands watch at the center."
Mael turned his gaze upward to the brilliant golden sun hovering in the center of the higher spheres, Tiphereth, the realm of Beauty and the Sun.
"Four down," Mael said, wiping the golden blood from his hand. "Let’s go meet the Archangel."
