The red moon hangs in the sky, serenely illuminating The Sky Sloth Wilderness.
The child of the wasteland, has been in eternal slumber.
Powerful bounty hunters disregard whether it’s day or night, considering dangerous places a mere path. Whether hunting or treasure hunting in the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains, they all leave after finishing the task.
Bounty squads of this level come and go freely, and generally return directly to the city after completing their tasks. They don’t need to gather as groups.
Only those bounty squads that urgently need rest and those weak Little Monsters would spend the night at the camp at the foot of the mountain.
There are three such camps in this area, mostly built according to the terrain with simple defensive structures constructed.
After all, The Sky Sloth Wilderness isn’t a safe place, especially treacherous at night. Evil beasts like the wolves of the wilderness are also notorious for their ferocity.
But the Demon clan is the most excellent tribe in the world, as long as they gather together, there’s no need to fear anything.
The camp where Chai Asi went was the closest mountain hollow camp to him, planning to return to Mo Yun City with his medicine basket when morning comes.
The so-called bounty camp isn’t an official building.
It’s just gathering spots formed spontaneously by bounty hunters living around the foot of the mountain.
The environment is rather simple.
There are various fire pits dug out, a few clay walls, some fences, and some pits.
But the defense capability is minimal.
The reason this place is safe is because a large number of bounty hunters gather here. No matter how fierce the evil beasts, they must know who is the master of this realm.
Chai Asi walked in with a smiling face as usual, found a fire pit at the edge, cleared the cold ash, stacked wood, lit a fire, tightly covered his medicine basket, held it in his arms, and began to sleep.
Sleeping naturally didn’t mean he could fall asleep, his heart was full of expectations for the future.
But sleeping avoided interactions with other Little Monsters.
Although few demons look up to him, there are plenty who love to chatter and boast. He usually wouldn’t mind flattering a few words, but having just rummaged the Ancient divine mirror from the entourage of Quan Xizai, why would he want too much contact with other demons now?
Covering himself with a ragged robe, he lay motionless by the fire pit, just keeping his ears open to the idle chatter of the Little Monsters in the bounty camp.
The Hundred Thousand Great Mountains weren’t peaceful this night.
First, a large army came from Mo Yun City into the mountains, all from the private soldiers of the Canine Clan’s family of Mo Yun City.
It’s said that now is the intense battle between Human and Demon Clan at South Celestial City, with several Heavenly Demons joining the fight, military forces of surrounding major cities are quite tense. Under such circumstances, sending so many troops into the mountains suggests something significant has occurred.
Chai Asi couldn’t help but think, could it be something happened to Quan Xizai, one of Mo Yun City’s three exceptionally talented?
He had similar guesses when he saw those two corpses in the forest earlier. But there weren’t any other bodies nearby, and Quan Xizai, with his exceptional power and holding two innate Divine Skills, was renowned as formidable. He assumed Quan Xizai might have escaped, but now it seems something ominous might have occurred?
By the latter part of the night, more fragmented groups of the Demon clan descended the mountain, many being directly driven there by Monster Soldiers, bringing even more detailed information.
Indeed, Quan Xizai had encountered trouble!
Not only him, but reportedly out of over a hundred warriors he brought into the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains, only ten survived. These were the ones who hadn’t promptly received Quan Xizai’s gathering information and didn’t manage to approach him in time.
A calamity centered on Quan Xizai spread out over a large area.
Chai Asi learned from the bounty hunters’ idle talks the identity of the powerful figure who crossed The Sky Sloth Wilderness into the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains before nightfall.
That lord... was not the Sect Master of Mo Yun City’s Canine Clan family as he guessed, but the patriarch of Quan Xizai’s line, a True Monster Quan Yingyang in seclusion at Zhaoyun Peak, thousands of miles away!
Even a powerhouse like Quan Yingyang has arrived, mobilizing so many troops to search the mountains, yet the reason for Quan Xizai’s trouble remains undiscovered. Not even the body has been found!
Bounty hunters discussed various possibilities with apprehension or tension.
Chai Asi, curled beside the fire pit, felt his heart growing colder.
Could it be... related to that Ancient God?
Yet he clearly saw two corpses, why do they say none were found? What happened after he left?
Chai Asi realized he might have stumbled into a very big trouble.
Very big.
In impulse, he contemplated whether he should hand over the Ancient divine mirror and clear himself of involvement.
But even then, he would recall... recall his grandfather’s body run over by a carriage, his half-life of mediocrity, the promised brilliant future by the Ancient Chi Yun Mountain God, and the Heaven and Earth Sinking Secret Sword Technique.
In the end, he remained silent.
Especially knowing full well the nature of those nobles, even if he truly had nothing to do with Quan Xizai’s life and death, those gentlemen could easily eliminate him without considering their mood.
It should have no connection, right? After all, the being residing in the mirror is an Ancient Spirit God capable of traversing the Fate River. Its adversary should at least be at the level of the Heavenly Spider Matriarch... why would it act against Quan Xizai?
Chai Asi certainly didn’t know, the entity claiming to be asleep within the mirror also awaited his reaction.
But he still stayed there with his eyes closed, enduring the entire night.
