By the end of that year, five hundred heavenly realms had been conquered by the Hegemony.
How absurd.
How unthinkable.
This was utterly impossible to comprehend a few years ago.
A single faction, one single faction, had literally taken over five hundred heavenly realms for themselves.
The main universe had a total of three thousand heavenly realms in its heavenverse.
Kael and his army had conquered one sixth of the entire heavenverse.
And they were not stopping at all.
If before, there had been a force or cosmic faction capable of stopping them, now it was futile.
Anyone, even the gods, did not want to go head-on against the lions, and nobody was even trying to.
Most of the factions still fighting the lions and their vassals were like the Carrion Beetles. Powerful civilizations that had been hidden for a while.
There were surprisingly a lot of such factions, partly because the Highest Will had kept them around to serve as a hindering force for future anomalies.
Unfortunately for them, the Highest Will was preoccupied with his own thing and would not render any help whatsoever.
One could only imagine the amount of Conquering Essence the lions had amassed for the All-King in this time.
The All-King himself was oversaturated with energy, but it wasn't enough.
The Alphaverse was not a fully operational universe until it had its own three thousand heavenly realms and three thousand laws.
Until then, Kael had to keep on conquering and commanding his army of lions.
The Lion Kings, the main characters of this cosmic armageddon, were not staying stagnant.
The war sharpened them, making them stronger, faster, and more intelligent with every battle that they survived.
Those who couldn't win the first battle had little to fear; they knew as long as they paid the right amount, they would be brought back to life to correct their mistakes.
And for those that didn't have enough resources to pay back? Nothing much could be said for them except that they deserved their fate.
If one won against his enemies, it is because he deserved to win. If one lost and perished, it is also because he deserved it.
There was no room for moral sway in the heat of this war; they could only keep on fighting and getting stronger.
In this fast-moving era, the biggest sin anyone could make was to be weak, not just in body, but in mind.
Millions of lions were dying every day, and many more were being born and fast-tracked to adulthood so that they could begin proving their Lionhood.
The so-called limit on population was already dissolved. The lions had already passed the two trillion mark by now, and the number of lion kings they had was doubled.
In the main universe, anyone with a perceptive soul would always hear a faint cacophony of lion roars resounding at the back of their minds. This was a result of the collective desire for so many lions to dominate the world.
Everyone, no matter how far they were, was plagued by these whispering roars.
And with the sharpening of the kings came an increase in standard. It was starting to become very apparent that immortality was a new requirement to be considered a lion king.
Not all immortal-tier entities were lion kings, but they could contest. For now, the kings who were still mortals made up a vast majority, with most of them now being tier 7.
This was just the grace period. Sooner or later, it will become necessary for a lion to become immortal before he has the chance to fight to be a king.
Normally, most lions would never make it to the immortal tier. Other times, those who do have to do it within the first one hundred thousand years of their life.
The standards were getting higher and higher and becoming more and more absurd.
But this was what they wanted; this was what the All-King wanted. The weak were useless to him and would be eliminated to make room for the strongest ones.
Kael wasn't just thinking about himself; he was thinking of possibilities beyond this universe.
Through George and his discoveries, Kael knew that there was another universe existing out there beyond this one.
Just the existence of his and Seth's Alphaverse was proof that there should be other universes out there.
It filled Kael with curiosity.
What had those ancient monkeys seen when they left the outerverse? Who knew?
What was the Other Law that the Highest Will had experimented with? Why had it changed to the Slime God?
Why was the Highest Will still using it?
Was that other Law contributing to the events of this universe?
Where did the other law come from then? Why was it here? Was it sent here with Ill intentions? Or did the senders even know what they were doing?
What did the senders look like? Were they like Kael and the other creatures of this universe? Beastly and bent on surviving?
Or was there something else entirely that could not be imagined unless seen.
And most importantly, where are they dangerous?
Kael had so many questions and so few answers. The clearer things became, the more confusing it became.
And he couldn't even share his findings with anyone; even if he wanted to, they would not understand.
Not everyone had access to a vast Alphaverse to draw a seemingly endless river of information from.
The burden of knowledge, it was Kael's own burden to hear right now.
One that he was bearing gladly.
With every day that passed, every year that went by, it would seem as though the end of the world drew so close.
It was scary; even the most mighty beings were uncertain of their own survival.
Over and over again, the same thing happened.
Civilizations rose and fell in incredibly short cycles.
The two Alphaverses kept on growing; Gabriel kept on enslaving whatever came in front of him, the fight between the Slime God and Ant God only grew more intense, and gods were laying out all their cards.
And the Highest Will…
He appeared.
