The basement workshop was filled with the rhythmic hum of Yuki’s tailoring equipment and the faint, sweet scent of lingering alchemy ingredients. Racks filled with raw animal hides lined the walls, and heavy barrels overflowing with various tailoring materials occupied the corners of the room.

Nyquella leaned against a heavy wooden workbench, deliberately arching her back and resting her chin in her hands. She had carefully adjusted the collar of the new shirt Yuki made for her, letting it slide slightly off one shoulder to reveal her neck and shoulder—just the way Yuki liked it.

Phase one is in motion, she thought triumphantly. According to my data, which he so kindly provided himself, he likes soft, round waistlines and high-quality fabric. Time to strike.

"You know, Yuki," Nyquella purred, keeping her voice as smooth and velvety as possible. "It’s getting awfully warm down here. This fabric you made... it’s so soft against my skin. It almost makes me want to shed a few more layers. What do you think?"

Yuki didn’t even look up from the sewing machine. He tapped his chin, his long tail flicking absentmindedly. "Oh, is the texture off? Dang it, I knew I should have used a lighter linen blend for the underground climate! Hold still, let me check your temperature. I don’t want you to overheat and pass out on me."

Before Nyquella could even register what was happening, Yuki zipped across the room. He leaned in incredibly close, his face practically buried in the crook of her neck as he pinched the fabric near her collarbone to inspect the stitching. His warm breath brushed against her skin, and his sharp emerald eyes were completely locked onto her shoulder.

"Y-Yuki?!" Nyquella squeaked, her face instantly bursting into a bright crimson flush. Her carefully planned posture shattered as she stiffened up like a board.

"Hmm, yeah, the weave is definitely too tight around the collar," Yuki muttered, completely oblivious to the fact that his face was mere inches from her bare skin. "I should have made you one out of silk and wool."

He reached out, his soft, nimble fingers brushing against her neck as he adjusted the collar back into place, smoothing down the fabric with a gentle, lingering pat.

"There. That should help with the airflow. Can’t have you overheating before we even leave the district! If you are still feeling hot, just let me know."

He stepped back with a bright, innocent grin, completely unaware that Nyquella’s heart was currently trying to escape her ribcage.

What is wrong with this guy?! she screamed internally, her hands shaking as she gripped the edge of the table. He just completely ignored my advances! Was that a counter-attack? No, he looks entirely clueless... ugh! That idiot!

Swallowing her panic, Nyquella took a deep breath and tried to regain control of the situation. She couldn’t let a simple touch defeat her. She was a researcher; she was tactical.

"Right... thanks," she stammered, coughing lightly into her fist. She stepped closer to him, deliberately stepping into his personal space and looking up through her eyelashes. "You’re very attentive, Yuki. A man who knows exactly how to handle a woman’s body with his hands... it’s a very rare, attractive trait. It makes me wonder what else those hands are capable of."

Jackpot. This will utter reel him in.

Yuki’s eyes lit up, his tail wagging back and forth with pure excitement. "Right?! Man, I’m glad someone finally appreciates the grind! You have no idea how much manual dexterity it takes to maximize the stats on these items. Look at this!"

Without warning, Yuki grabbed both of Nyquella’s hands in his. His grip was firm, warm, and entirely steady. He flipped her hands over, tracing the lines of her palms with his thumbs to demonstrate his point.

"See, to get the perfect symmetry, you need absolute finger isolation," Yuki explained enthusiastically, leaning over their joined hands. "My system interface actually rewards me with a passive Agility buff when I do delicate work. Here, feel how calloused my fingertips are? That’s pure hard work. Sadly, it returns to normal in a few hours, back to soft hands."

Nyquella stared down at their intertwined fingers. Her brain felt like it was actively melting. The sensation of his thumbs rubbing circles into her palms was intensely intimate, sending little jolts of electricity up her arms. She wanted to pull away, but his grip was surprisingly strong, and his genuine, blissful smile made it impossible to move.

"Y-Yuki... your hands are... really warm," she whispered, her voice failing her as her gaze drifted up to his soft, round jawline.

"Oh, that’s just the residual essence from the crafting process!" Yuki chirped, finally letting go of her hands to clap his own together. "Anyway, I need to finish these pants. Stand on that stool over there, I need to measure your inseam."

Nyquella stumbled backward, her confidence completely evaporated, her face burning hotter than the mansion’s hot water shower. She covered her face with her hands, letting out a defeated groan.

I’m the genius? she thought miserably. He’s not even trying, and I’m the one who is completely defenseless!

As Yuki worked, his hands would occasionally brush against her legs. Nyquella did her absolute best not to squeal, but she knew if this continued, she would completely lose her chance.

No matter what conversation she started to regain her footing, Yuki always replied or did something entirely innocent that would make her heart skip a beat.

The conversation eventually pivoted over to Yuki’s massage skills. Yuki, of course, immediately bragged about having the touch of a god, confidently claiming that his massages could loosen anyone up and that he didn’t even need to use his venom to do it.

Yes! Perfect! This is it! Nyquella squeaked internally, a triumphant grin fighting to break through her flustered expression. A massage is the perfect excuse to get his hands all over my body. Then, he will slowly fall for me when he touches my soft skin and moves his hands across my curves!

Ha ha, I am a freaking genius, Nyquella cheered internally, completely blind to the trap she was setting for her own heart.
