Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 609: If You Have a Problem, Come at MeChapter 609: Chapter 609: If You Have a Problem, Come at Me
’What a fucking psycho.’
Annabelle Linton caught the woman’s wrist just as she was about to bring her hand down and viciously flung it aside.
She watched the woman impatiently, rendered utterly speechless as she listened to her increasingly nonsensical ramblings.
’Is this woman senile?’
Annabelle Linton’s brow furrowed deeply. "Mrs. Ainsworth," she snapped, her voice sharp with irritation, "out of respect for your age, I’m willing to turn a blind eye and let this go. But I’m warning you, don’t push your luck. Pissing me off won’t do anyone any good!"
"Oh, please. You think I’m scared of you?"
Tina Chapman tossed her purse onto a chair, rolled up her sleeves, and strode right up to Annabelle Linton, grabbing her by the hair. "You little bitch, I’m going to teach you a lesson on your father’s behalf today! Last time, you had Quentin Holland to back you up when you hit Yvonne, and now you’re acting up again. Do you think I’m some kind of pushover?"
Annabelle Linton’s hair was caught in her grip. The woman wasn’t holding back at all; it felt as though she were trying to tear her entire scalp off.
A frigid glint sharpened in Annabelle Linton’s cold eyes. Anyone could see she had been pushed too far.
She closed her eyes, took a breath, and said in a low voice, "Let. Go."
"Let go? In your dreams!" Tina Chapman’s face was twisted in a savage sneer as she swung a hard slap at Annabelle Linton’s face. "I’ll tear that mouth right off your face, you little slut! How dare you talk back to me!"
Annabelle Linton violently shoved her away, grabbed her by the hair with equal force, and slapped her hard across the face.
’She had been willing to take one slap from the woman, considering Annabelle Ainsworth had just saved her life. She could have just let the woman vent her anger and be done with it.’
’But she never imagined the woman would actually double down and get even more outrageous!’
’Fine. She could have tolerated a few crazy accusations, maybe even a slap from Annabelle Ainsworth herself. But for her mother to get on her high horse like this?’
’So self-righteous, always pulling the age card. I give her an inch and she thinks she can walk all over me, is that it?’
The force of Annabelle Linton’s slap left Tina Chapman’s ears ringing and a red handprint swelling on her face.
Clutching her face, she stared at Annabelle Linton in shock and shrieked, "Annabelle Linton, you’ve got some nerve! How dare you strike your own aunt!"
Annabelle Linton: "..."
’She was pretty sure she’d said it countless times before—she and William Chapman had nothing to do with each other anymore. Did this woman love being her aunt so much? Running around calling herself ’aunt’ all day... didn’t she feel any shame?’
Having lived a pampered life for so many years, Tina Chapman had never been humiliated like this. Naturally, she wasn’t about to let it slide.
Just as she was about to charge forward again, a lazy voice cut in from behind her.
"Are you ever going to stop? If you’re just looking for an excuse to hit her, be direct about it. I’m the one who ran into her, so if you’ve got a problem, take it up with me."
Chase Lynch leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, letting out a yawn as he spoke with a distinct lack of interest.
Tina Chapman’s head whipped toward the voice, and her eyes landed on the exceptionally distinguished Chase Lynch.
A flash of fury crossed her eyes.
’She recognized him. He was a rising star on par with the likes of Leona Grant. Of course, he still had a long way to go to truly match Leona Grant, but he was a bona fide business magnate in his own right!’
’Why?! On what grounds?!’
’Why did her daughter have to suffer the torment of her illness day after day, in so much pain in her room that she was better off dead, while this bitch got to live out in the open, showered with affection and surrounded by handsome men with status, power, and looks?’
’And worst of all, her daughter could only watch the man she loved from afar. After waiting all that time for him to finally divorce Annabelle Linton, she thought she would at last have her chance to marry him.’
