Chapter 614: My Purpose Is to Spoil You Rotten

Chapter 614: Chapter 614: My Purpose Is to Spoil You Rotten

Leona Grant opened the car door. After Annabelle Linton got in, he closed the door, walked around to the other side, opened his door, and got in the car.

’The wife I traded my life for...’

Hearing his words, Annabelle Linton was reminded of their past life, the one described in Leona Grant’s file—how he had followed her in death...

And how, when she was about to marry Aaron Wyatt, she had killed herself right in front of him...

Leona Grant’s love was always so heavy, so heart-wrenching.

A wave of warmth washed over Annabelle Linton’s heart, but her eyes couldn’t help but sting with unshed tears.

Memories of the past flashed before her eyes, frame by frame. She gazed out the window at the swirling crowd, at all the people struggling through life, some sighing, others lost in despair.

Nine times out of ten, life is full of disappointment. Yet she, an orphan, was sheltered under Leona Grant’s wing, protected from all harm. He had given her a life free of worry.

But these carefree, wonderful days were tainted by so many painful memories.

Annabelle Linton lowered her gaze, a faint shadow falling over her eyes. She curved her lips into a small smile and said softly, "Young Master Grant, you’re going to spoil me rotten."

Leona Grant leaned over and gave her a quick kiss. Then, as he fastened her seatbelt, a smile played on his lips as well. "That’s my goal—to spoil you so rotten that you can’t do anything, that you’re completely helpless. Just like how you spoiled me. I can’t live without you, and I’m going to make sure you can’t live without me, either."

Finally, he started the car and glanced at her with a helpless look. "Besides," he said, "I’m finding that when it comes to you, spoiling you is the only thing I know how to do."

Annabelle Linton just smiled without saying a word.

Leona Grant steered with one hand while his other reached out, unerringly finding her hand where it rested on her lap and lacing their fingers together.

A pleasant tingle, like a faint electric current, traveled from her palm straight to her heart. Annabelle Linton looked at him, puzzled.

Leona Grant smiled at her. "I don’t want to waste a single second we have together."

Annabelle Linton laughed, a hint of resignation in her voice. "We have plenty of time."

"But I still don’t want to waste any of it."

Leona Grant gazed at her, his eyes thick with a deep, unwavering tenderness. "Annabelle Linton, I miss you so much, even when you’re right here in front of me."

...

Annabelle Ainsworth’s appearance had undoubtedly landed like a heavy stone in Annabelle Linton’s heart.

A thousand questions flooded her mind, but she couldn’t make sense of any of them.

Annabelle Linton lay on a lounge chair by the pool, the crease between her eyebrows deepening with every passing moment.

Suddenly, something warm touched her left cheek, and Annabelle Linton hissed in a sharp breath of pain.

Leona Grant was gently rolling a peeled, hard-boiled egg over her cheek. "What’s on your mind?" he asked softly. "You’ve been distracted all evening. You barely touched your dinner."

’Oh, he’s just rubbing my cheek.’

Annabelle Linton let out a breath of relief. She narrowed her eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Nothing," she said lightly. "I just don’t have much of an appetite."

Leona Grant sighed and continued to gently roll the egg over her cheek. After a while, seeing that the color had returned to normal, he picked up a towel and started drying her hair.

"Next time you get out of the pool or the shower, make sure you dry your hair completely. You’ll give yourself a headache, or worse, end up with rheumatism."

Annabelle Linton had just finished her swim. After a few cursory dabs with a towel, she had become lost in thought, and now her hair was still damp.

Hearing this, she said teasingly, "I feel like I’m becoming your daughter. You have to take care of everything for me."

"Haven’t you heard? The ultimate way to spoil your wife is to treat her like a daughter."

Leona Grant sat on the lounge chair beside Annabelle Linton, continuing to dry her hair.

Annabelle Linton was wearing a black swimsuit.
