Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 648 - 658: Testing, Revealing a Flaw 4Chapter 648: Chapter 658: Testing, Revealing a Flaw 4
Vivian Yates was taken aback by her words.
’What trick is this little bitch trying to pull now?’
’But with Annabelle Linton around, there wasn’t much she could do.’
Vivian Yates said with a smile, "Thank you, I’m much better."
Ashley Grant’s lips curled into a faint smile. "That’s good," she said lightly. "But what happened to you that day? You just disappeared all of a sudden. You had us worried for ages, especially my sister-in-law. She was on the verge of tears!"
Annabelle Linton shot Ashley Grant a look, her lips twisted in a faint, unreadable smile.
’What a little drama queen.’
Upon hearing this, Vivian Yates sneered inwardly for what felt like a full minute.
’Worried?’
’You have the fucking nerve to say that? If I could, I’d rip you to shreds right now!’
Vivian Yates turned to Annabelle Linton, her voice thick with emotion. "I’m so sorry, Cousin. I made you worry. I won’t let it happen again."
’Hah.’
’You have a lot to be sorry for. Hiding for so long, calling me ’Cousin’ all this time... The memory alone makes me want to throw up. Who do you think you haven’t wronged?’
Annabelle Linton offered a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "It’s fine."
Maybe it was her imagination, but Ashley Grant could clearly sense Annabelle Linton’s distant and passive-aggressive attitude toward Vivian Yates.
She smiled and deliberately brought up a topic with Annabelle Linton. "Sister-in-law, I wonder if you still remember Vivian Yates?"
Vivian Yates’s heart skipped a beat. She was suddenly overcome with a bad feeling.
Annabelle Linton replied, "Of course I do. Why?"
"Oh, nothing much. It’s just, I was out today and ran into an old classmate of hers. That woman has ties to our family, too. She asked me where Vivian Yates had gone, and it suddenly hit me—That Witch Yates has been gone for ages. I was wondering why it’s been so quiet around here lately."
Hearing this, Annabelle Linton subconsciously glanced at Vivian Yates out of the corner of her eye and noticed she seemed completely rattled.
A glint flashed in her eyes. She let out a cold laugh. "I have no idea where she went. I’ve been looking for her recently, too. In fact, I have a big gift I need to give her!"
Vivian Yates’s heart sank.
’She remembered what Chase Lynch had told her. The reason he’d had her impersonate Annabelle Ainsworth was twofold: first, to make it easier to get close to Leona Grant, and second, because Annabelle Linton had a video of her killing Faye Sheffield.’
’If that video were to get out, it would cost her her life—’
’This "big gift" Annabelle Linton mentioned must be that video, right?’
’She had completely forgotten about that.’
’Dealing with Chase Lynch is too dangerous. According to the principle "the more you know, the faster you die," the moment she lost her value to him, she’d be a dead woman.’
’In that case, she had to start planning for herself...’
Ashley Grant didn’t understand. She looked at Annabelle Linton and asked, "What big gift?"
Annabelle Linton’s lips curved. "A gift," she said lightly, "that will utterly destroy her..."
The anxiety in Vivian Yates’s heart grew even stronger.
—
Her anxiety festered until the middle of the night.
She tossed and turned, unable to sleep. No amount of self-hypnosis worked, and even sleeping pills were useless.
Since sleep was utterly impossible, Vivian Yates gave up, got out of bed, and went online for a bit, but she couldn’t get into it.
Frustrated, she got out of bed, walked through the living room, and went outside for a stroll.
The stars were exceptionally beautiful tonight, and the villa was so luxurious it glowed like a city that never sleeps.
Vivian Yates walked along a flowered path, taking in the small flowers and blades of grass, and listening to the gurgling of a nearby stream. Her mood finally began to calm.
As she walked without a destination in mind, a voice suddenly drifted into her ears.
Annabelle Linton, dressed in a bathrobe and slippers, was standing on a bridge with her back to her.
Moonlight streamed down over her head as the wind stirred her long hair. She looked as beautiful as a goddess.
She was on the phone.
