Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy

Chapter 792 - 795: Pegasus Soaring through the Skies

"Become a mistress?" Peony still couldn’t understand the true meaning behind the Ancestor of Blood Refinement’s words, only unpleasant conjectures.

This Ancestor of Blood Refinement... could he have a wife and want me to be his mistress?

The Ancestor of Blood Refinement was, of course, unaware of her inner thoughts. He simply wanted Peony to become a Cultivator to prepare for the future cultivation of Pan Peaches. The Ancestor of Blood Refinement also had Pan Peach seeds in his Heavenly Emperor’s Treasure House. In fact, the treasure house contained all ten great Spirit Roots of the Mythical World.

For now, the Ancestor of Blood Refinement naturally wouldn’t plant them. After all, these celestial Spirit Roots were far too conspicuous. They would absorb the Spiritual Energy of an entire region as nourishment, drawing an immense amount of attention. Even Immortal Emperors would be drawn to them. The current Ancestor of Blood Refinement possessed the body of an Immortal Emperor, but he could only wield the Ninth Grade Immortal Spiritual Power of the Tongxuan Realm for a short time. Furthermore, his meager Spiritual Power was insufficient to execute some of an Immortal Emperor’s Martial Arts Techniques.

Cultivators’ Guilds existed in almost every region, yet they rarely garnered much attention. Those who did take an interest were mostly women, as a Cultivator’s job was simply to raise small pets and grow plants. Of course, some cultivated fierce pets and poisonous plants for combat, but these methods couldn’t compare to the lethality of Formations or Martial Artists. Thus, the animals and plants bred by Cultivators were, at present, mostly for amusement.

Wu Tian led Peony into the Cultivators’ Guild. There weren’t many people inside; being a Cultivator was widely seen as a profession with no future. The president of the Cultivators’ Guild came forward to greet them personally.

"May I ask what my two esteemed guests are looking for? We have charming little animals that girls love, and we also have plants that freshen the air," she said.

"What’s your most popular item here?" the Ancestor of Blood Refinement asked casually. His Bronze Ghost Mask was particularly eye-catching.

The Art of Blood Refinement had already emerged. Now, in the Imperial Capital, he was a household name. All Blood Refiners within the Three Realms revered him as their master. Even if he were to venture out, every Blood Refiner in the entire Immortal Emperor Realm would have to pay him the same respect. The president of the Cultivators’ Guild, a woman in her forties named Mrs. Song, knew she had to treat such a man with the utmost importance.

"Our most popular item is a type of plant! It bears a fruit called the Human-shaped Fruit. Eating it can increase one’s Spiritual Power." She led the Ancestor of Blood Refinement and Peony to a tree. There were many trees in the guild, but the fruit on this particular one was strange and especially eye-catching.

"This is the one. Please, have a taste," Mrs. Song said, plucking two Human-shaped Fruits and offering them to her guests.

The Ancestor of Blood Refinement extended his hand and took the fruit, knowing it was a gesture of goodwill. Free treasures are not to be refused. The so-called Human-shaped Fruit Tree was something only nobles purchased from the Cultivators’ Guild, as only they could afford to grow it. A single fruit cost five thousand Gold Coins. This was a price far beyond the reach of an ordinary person, whose monthly wages were a mere two or three thousand.

Wu Tian handed a fruit to Peony. "Try it."

Peony nodded. As the top Oiran of the Brothel, she had a sizable private fortune, but she had never spent it on such an expensive delicacy; money was hard to come by. She took a bite, and her beautiful eyes widened in astonishment at the delicious flavor. Her curiosity piqued, Peony gazed at the Human-shaped Fruit Tree, wondering how it could produce something so delectable.

Seeing her fascination with the tree, the Ancestor of Blood Refinement knew she was intrigued by the Cultivator profession, which meant she would likely develop an interest in it. He was very satisfied.

He turned to Mrs. Song. "You’re the president here. Does the job ever tire you? Have you considered a change in leadership?"

With the Azure Empire about to invade, the Cultivators represent a force. Why not take that power into my own hands? This was Wu Tian’s domineering line of thought.

"Replace me?" Mrs. Song was clearly displeased.

What is he trying to say? Does he blatantly want my position?

"That’s right. You’re being replaced," Wu Tian nodded.

"May I interpret that as you harboring ambitions to seize my position as president?" Mrs. Song’s tone turned hostile.

"Yes. That’s exactly what I think, and it’s what I’m doing," the Ancestor of Blood Refinement stated, his eyes gleaming under the bronze mask, making no attempt to hide his intentions.

Mrs. Song was furious. This man won’t even bother with a pretense? He just admitted it? She let out a dry laugh. "Unfortunately, that position is not mine to give. I am merely the acting president."

"Oh?" The Ancestor of Blood Refinement glanced at Mrs. Song’s face. He could read people well and knew she disliked lying. What she said was likely the truth.

"Then who is the real president? Take us to him," the Ancestor of Blood Refinement commanded.

"Very well." Hearing his demand, Mrs. Song didn’t refuse. "But I must warn you... he is not someone to be trifled with."

The Ancestor of Blood Refinement shrugged, unfazed.

Mrs. Song led them toward the back of the guild. This "backyard" wasn’t visible from the outside because it was contained entirely within the building. Upon entering, they found themselves in a vast space, as large as a courtyard and densely packed with lush, verdant plants. It was an astonishing scene.

Mrs. Song pushed through the thick foliage. "I’m sure you never expected to find a forest inside a house, did you?"

Wu Tian and Peony nodded. Who keeps a jungle in their home?

"The real president is actually my husband," she explained. "He is a true Plant Cultivator. He’s currently trying to nurture a seed. I don’t know if he’s succeeded yet, but in the process, he’s turned our home into this jungle."

Mrs. Song led them on a difficult path through the indoor wilderness until they finally reached a pavilion.

"Please, have a seat."

Despite the strange surroundings, Mrs. Song was a courteous host, inviting the Ancestor of Blood Refinement and Peony to sit. Inside the house was a pavilion, and even a small bridge arching over a flowing stream.

"This architectural style is my husband’s favorite," Mrs. Song said with a small smile. "He often says, ’Why must bridges be outside? Why must streams and pavilions and forests all be outside? They can be just as beautiful inside a house.’"

Her few words were enough for the Ancestor of Blood Refinement and Peony to understand what kind of man Mr. Song was—someone with wonderfully imaginative and unconventional ideas, whose thinking was completely different from that of ordinary people.

"My dear, why have you returned so early today?"

At that moment, a weak voice called out. A middle-aged man approached, panting for breath. He looked to be in his forties, but his body was frail and excessively thin. He was not just outwardly gaunt but seemed withered from within, as if walking a few steps exhausted all his strength. At a glance, he looked like a man utterly drained of his vital essence.

"These two have business with you, so I brought them back," Mrs. Song huffed, her tone toward Mr. Song lacking any warmth.

The Ancestor of Blood Refinement took one look at them and, reading their faces, knew this man could not satisfy his wife, which was why she treated him so coldly.
