Chapter 1973: Chapter 1808: Array
Song Yun spread his arms and laughed, "Then give me a hug."
"Why should I hug you?"
Dongfang Yun looked bewildered.
Song Yun chuckled, "Didn’t you say I’m a woman? Since I’m a woman, what harm in a hug?"
"Ridiculous."
Dongfang Yun turned her head and continued walking forward.
Although she appeared aloof, every time Song Yun teased her, her heart would start racing, giving her an inexplicable feeling.
The two of them followed the passageway, moving forward all the way, the slope of the passage getting steeper and steeper, until it was almost vertical downwards, forcing them to brace their feet against the stone walls to slowly progress downward.
The further down, the colder it got, with a trace of chill emanating from the passage ahead, along with a hint of light.
The exit has arrived.
Dongfang Yun exited first, followed by Song Yun emerging from the passage.
In front was a vast stone room, filled with large blocks of ice, within which food and vegetables were preserved.
Seeing this, Song Yun realized this was the village’s ice cellar for preserving food.
He murmured, "No wonder the passage was so cold, it leads to the ice cellar."
Dongfang Yun said, "The village can’t cultivate year-round, so they store some food here. Sometimes they also go outside to buy food and store it in the ice cellar."
Song Yun chuckled, "You seem to know a lot about this place."
Dongfang Yun did not reply, walked to a wooden door, leaned her ear against it, and upon hearing no sound outside, she opened the door a crack and slipped out.
"Follow me."
Seemingly no one was outside, Dongfang Yun poked her head through the door crack, beckoning Song Yun.
Song Yun followed, pulling the ice cellar door shut on the way.
He looked outside, realizing this was not the village’s core area, but the southern side near the stone wall, and the ice cellar was carved directly out of the stone wall.
Unless fetching food, no one would normally come to the ice cellar.
Dongfang Yun glanced at the sky, seeing it still bright, she said to Song Yun, "Let’s wait first; once it’s dark, we’ll go rescue people."
Finished speaking, she quickly moved behind a rock, sat down on the ground, and leaned against it to rest.
Song Yun sat next to Dongfang Yun, laughing, "Rescue people? Why do I feel you’re here to cause trouble?"
"Will you help or not?"
Dongfang Yun said in a threatening tone.
Song Yun chuckled, "Of course I’ll help."
Dongfang Yun closed her eyes and said, "Rest for a while first. There are many experts on the other side; if things don’t go well at night, there might be a big fight."
Then she added, "By the way, remember, no killing."
"Okay, everything as you say."
Song Yun laughed, increasingly feeling things were mysterious.
The two rested for a while, watching as the sky gradually darkened and lights were lit up in the village.
"Let’s go."
Dongfang Yun opened her eyes, stood up, and headed out.
Song Yun followed behind Dongfang Yun, approaching the village.
The two took many twists and turns, Dongfang Yun always found lesser-populated paths, managing to avoid being discovered.
She seemed to know the place inside out.
"What goes around comes around."
"Open the door! Open the door! I know you’re home."
"God’s been fooling you."
"My great knife is itching to be used."
Sounds from TV shows, movies, and computer games drifted from some houses, catching Song Yun by surprise.
He initially thought the light was from kerosene lamps, but unexpectedly the place had electricity.
This remote place, situated among volcanoes, having electricity would be incredibly costly.
And this wire was clearly installed by the country specifically for the village.
"We’ve arrived."
Dongfang Yun stopped in front of an ordinary stone house, a hint of excitement on her face.
Click click...
"Charge! Ah, another bush Gai Lun."
"Fear not the god-like opponent, fear the pig-like teammate, this monkey seems crazy."
"Oh my, can’t anyone play this game right, even the Enchantress can be caught."
Keyboard tapping sounds and a light, pleasant female voice came from inside, but that female voice sounded somewhat excited, engrossed in playing LOL.
Song Yun looked at Dongfang Yun, frowning, "The person you want to rescue isn’t this internet-addicted girl in the house, is it?"
Dongfang Yun nodded, "Yes."
Song Yun was speechless, "Seriously? Didn’t you say she was under soft confinement, but she’s gaming so happily?"
Dongfang Yun matter-of-factly replied, "She’s under soft confinement, not imprisonment. Of course, she can play computer games, that’s perfectly normal."
"Alright, whatever you say."
Song Yun pursed his lips, saying no more.
Dongfang Yun walked to the side of the stone house and gently knocked on the window.
"Who’s there? I’m busy playing a game, about to push the enemy crystal, don’t bother me."
Shouted the girl inside.
Dongfang Yun whispered, "It’s me."
"You? Who are you?"
The girl inside sounded a bit suspicious, but quickly lowered her voice and excitedly said, "Ah, it’s Sister Yun!"
Soft footsteps followed by the clanking of dragging chains were heard.
A shadow cast on the window, then the window creaked open.
A petite girl with twin ponytails poked her head out of the window, mischievously waving to Dongfang Yun, "Quick, quick come in, don’t let anyone else see."
After speaking, she noticed Song Yun beside, her eyes lit up, surprised, "Ah, are you from outside? Sister Yun’s friend? Come in quickly."
Seeing the girl’s excitement, it was as if she hadn’t seen another person in ages.
Song Yun and Dongfang Yun entered the stone house, and the girl hurriedly closed the window, looking Song Yun up and down, her face full of curiosity.
Meanwhile, Song Yun also observed the girl before him.
