About five thousand years ago, Earth was not the planet it was today. It was rich with Soulforce, birthing warriors of godly powers who walked among mortals. Ashwathama was one such warrior from that era, a legendary figure who had fought in the epic war of Mahabharata, standing alongside heroes and demigods. For the unforgivable sin he had committed, he was cursed by Lord Krishna to wander the Earth until the end of Kali Yuga, an eternal punishment that condemned him to witness the rise and fall of countless civilizations, never finding peace.
He was the only being in the whole planet who was stronger than Taranis and might help him in changing his fate, or that was what Taranis thought at least.
"I cannot fight your war," Ashwathama shook his head, his white beard slightly swaying with the motion. "I had lost my power when I was cursed. I only possess this immortal body from my era."
He looked at his rotten body, his eyes scanning through the festering wounds of his forearms, the flesh decaying even as he breathed. "This body serves no other purpose than keeping me alive."
Taranis lowered his arms, his hands digging into the stone beneath him, his nails scraping against the cold rock. The only hope he thought he had seemed completely lost now.
"However," Ashwathama continued, slowly rising to his feet with the help of his wooden cane. His joints groaned as his knees slowly straightened. "I shall teach you the method to save Prithvi."
Taranis’s gaze shifted to Ashwathama again, a flicker of hope appearing on his face. Ashwathama did not let the false hope fester further as he declared, his voice carrying the weight of painful truth, "The chances of my teaching changing your fate is low. It will only ensure the survival of Prithvi."
"You did not say the chances are zero," Taranis said, the hope never leaving his face, his voice steady with determination. He rose to his feet, bowed to Ashwathama, and declared, "Please teach me the method."
Ashwathama did not reply. He turned on his feet and slowly moved towards the exit of the cave, the sound of his cane hitting the stone echoing through the narrow passage.
"Follow me."
Taranis followed him, quickly wiping the tears from his cheeks, composing himself.
As they moved down the hill towards the valley before the beginning of the next hill, Ashwathama explained, his voice carrying over the rustling leaves, "You will train your soul for ten hours by meditation. Eight hours to practice the skill. The remaining time is for rest, which is also a necessary part of training."
"May I use that time to spend with my wives?" Taranis asked, his voice a bit hesitant, a flicker of warmth in his tone.
Only for a moment, Ashwathama halted, his cane pausing mid step.
"Ahem, the time must be spent in resting."
With those words, he began moving forward again, his pace steady. Taranis clearly understood what he meant by those words, making him release a low chuckle.
"I will do as you say."
Thus, the three gods from Vyoman began their preparation for the Doomsday. Ume spent her whole day in the sky, preparing her arrays, her pink energy weaving intricate patterns across the clouds. Nymeria’s days went inside the conference hall of the Black Raven Guild, meeting with the nation’s leaders to discuss the strategy and distribution of the Awakeners around the planet, her voice carrying the weight of authority. Taranis trained his soul and body under the teaching of Ashwathama, pushing himself to his limits.
It was only for a few hours of night that the three of them actually got together, a brief respite from the relentless preparation. Taranis had bought a mansion on an island, their home on Earth where they dedicated the short time with each other, a sanctuary of warmth and love amidst the encroaching storm.
---
"Taranis, did you look into what I asked?" Nymeria murmured, her voice soft and tired. Seated on the sofa, she rested her chest lightly against the top of his head, her arms wrapped around his neck as he sat on the floor between her legs, her warmth enveloping him. In front of him, Ume leaned back against his chest, her gaze fixed on the television as the three of them watched a romantic drama together, the flickering light casting soft shadows across their faces.
Taranis grabbed the remote from his side and paused the show as he revealed, his hand gently caressing Ume’s fluffy ears on her head, his fingers tracing the soft fur, "I did. We cannot return to Vyoman until the baby is born."
What Nymeria had asked him was how could they return to Vyoman? If only their consciousness was transferred to the other body, then did that mean their child was stuck in this world? And if the bodies actually became one, then what about the baby in Nymeria’s womb.
"I have learned a method to return to Vyoman with our child, but you must wait until the little one is born."
"Oh, alright," Nymeria sighed, moving closer to him, her lower thighs resting on his shoulder, her body relaxing against him.
The method that Taranis spoke of was what he had received as the reward from the Doomsday series quest.
[Due to your high contribution in reducing the casualties, you have received the following reward.
One time use skill: Coalesce]
[Description: Using this skill will fuse the two bodies of the Host into one in Vyoman.
{Fuse}
Note:
1. Once the skill is activated, the secondary body will be teleported to the primary body in Vyoman and fused there.
2. The fusion is permanent. The bodies cannot be split again.
3. The Avatar Login ability will become useless without a secondary body, and the Host will not be able to return to Earth again.]
When he received the skill, for a moment, he thought of abandoning Earth and returning to Vyoman. He would never have considered it before. But ever since he learned of his child, for the first time in a long while, he actually thought of putting himself above everything else, a selfish desire to feel the warmth of his child in his arms.
However, that flame was soon extinguished as he used the second slot of Truth-Teller.
[Is it safe for Nymeria and the child in her womb if she use Skill-share to activate Coalesce?]
[Searching for the answer...]
[Answer Found!]
[Activating Coalesce during pregnancy will result in a miscarriage.]
[One slot has been consumed. To free the slot, use Skill-share to fuse Nymeria’s two bodies.]
The thought alone sent shivers through Taranis. It was as if fate itself was laughing at him, presenting him with two cruel choices: save himself by returning to Vyoman, abandoning his child in the process, or remain here and face certain death.
