Chapter 526: Chapter 498: A Man’s Mouth
By the end of the meal, Brother Xiaoma was utterly speechless. However, considering Fang Chenyi’s track record, he wasn’t overly surprised. After all, you couldn’t measure this guy by any normal standard.
After the meal, Fang Chenyi told Brother Xiaoma to go get some rest. He and Bai Menghan then returned to his villa together. This time, however, he wasn’t in a hurry to engage in any "post-meal exercise" with Bai Menghan; instead, he planned on going to the study.
As for why he was going to the study, it was, of course, for that awesome thing he had gotten earlier. You see, what he had acquired wasn’t just the Iron Man armor, but also a special reward—a game helmet with a 99% realism rating.
To be honest, if he hadn’t promised to show Brother Xiaoma around the commercial district today, Fang Chenyi wouldn’t have been able to resist the urge to start tinkering with the helmet.
As soon as they walked through the villa’s front door, Bai Menghan saw how eager Fang Chenyi was to be back. Her cheeks flushed red, and she shyly tugged on the corner of his shirt. In a voice that was both bashful and a little reproachful, she said:
"Honey... darling... can we wait until tonight? I still have so much work to do. I really can’t this afternoon..."
Hearing Bai Menghan’s words, Fang Chenyi froze for a second before it dawned on him what she was talking about. A slight smirk played on his lips as he gently booped her on the nose.
"Heh heh, what’s going on in that little head of yours all day? Is this all you think about? Well, if you really want it that badly, your darling husband can take you for a ride..."
’He’s the one who’s thinking about it all day, and now he’s trying to pin it on me!’ Bai Menghan stomped her foot in a fit of pique. Ignoring him completely, she huffed, pouted, and marched straight toward the study.
When Fang Chenyi saw Bai Menghan head for the study, he just smiled, shook his head, and followed her in.
However, when Bai Menghan saw Fang Chenyi come in after her, she shot him a glare. She began pushing him back out the door, saying:
"Oh, come on, stop fooling around, will you? I really have to get work done this afternoon. You pervert, this is all you ever think about."
But Fang Chenyi felt incredibly wronged. He held up his hands helplessly to show that he had no intention of bothering her.
Bai Menghan scrutinized Fang Chenyi’s eyes for a moment before asking hesitantly,
"You’re really not going to mess with me? Hey, what’s that in your hand? Is that a motorcycle helmet?"
As she spoke, Bai Menghan had suddenly noticed the helmet in Fang Chenyi’s hand, hence her confused question.
Fang Chenyi shook his head.
"This isn’t a motorcycle helmet. It’s a gaming device I’m planning to develop. So you see, I really do have serious work to do."
Only then did Bai Menghan believe Fang Chenyi’s words.
With a slight pout, she stopped bothering with Fang Chenyi and walked over to her desk to start working.
However, in the moments that followed, Bai Menghan came to deeply understand a certain saying.
A man’s words are a pack of lies!
Bai Menghan had only just sat down at her desk when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her from behind—it was Fang Chenyi.
There’s no need to describe what happened next.
Fortunately, Fang Chenyi was considerate of Bai Menghan this time. He knew what she had just gone through the previous night, so he didn’t draw things out for too long.
「An hour later.」
Bai Menghan shot Fang Chenyi an exasperated glare as she straightened her clothes.
"You... you jerk! Didn’t you promise you wouldn’t mess with me? All you do all day is bully me."
Fang Chenyi licked his lips, still wanting more, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
Seeing that wicked grin, Bai Menghan got a fright and hurriedly pulled the collar of her shirt tighter, a wary look flashing in her eyes.
"No more, please, no more. I really have a ton of work to get done. If I don’t start now, I won’t even be able to finish it tonight..."
Hearing this, Fang Chenyi just chuckled and helped Bai Menghan straighten her clothes. "Heh heh. Don’t worry, babe. I said I wouldn’t disturb you, and I meant it."
Bai Menghan gave him a huge eye-roll and couldn’t help muttering under her breath,
"Hmph. I’d be a fool to trust you again."
Fang Chenyi paid her no mind. He exchanged a few more flirtatious, risqué comments with Bai Menghan before finally, and contentedly, settling into a nearby chair.
Meanwhile, Bai Menghan sat at her desk and watched him for a moment. Only after confirming that Fang Chenyi had no intention of coming over again did she let out a long sigh of relief. She quickly turned on her computer and started working in earnest.
She had already fallen behind on her work because of Fang Chenyi’s return the previous night. Add to that spending the whole morning out with him, and it was no surprise she had a lot to catch up on.
Soon, Bai Menghan was engrossed in her work, no longer paying any attention to what Fang Chenyi was doing a short distance away.
After returning to his seat, Fang Chenyi watched Bai Menghan work with a fond smile for a little while before finally turning his attention away.
He unplugged the ethernet cable from his computer, found the corresponding port on the helmet, and plugged it in with a solid CLICK. Next was the power cord.
Once everything was connected, Fang Chenyi took a deep breath and put the game helmet on.
The next moment, Fang Chenyi saw a flash of white light, and a glow appeared within the previously dark helmet.
Along with the light, a pleasant female voice echoed in his ears:
"System start-up normal! Network connection stable! No game detected. Please load a new game!"
As the voice spoke, a line of conspicuous red text appeared before Fang Chenyi’s eyes.
Seeing this message, Fang Chenyi felt a pang of disappointment. The game helmet didn’t actually come with any games.
’From the looks of it, this thing is probably like a computer; I’ll have to download games myself before I can use it. I just wonder if it’s compatible with any of today’s games?’
Of course, that thought was fleeting. What Fang Chenyi cared about most was the helmet’s core technology.
He tried blinking and was shocked to discover that the image in front of him remained, regardless of whether his eyes were open or closed. ’So it seems the image isn’t transmitted through the retina.’
His years of reading novels immediately supplied him with a term: brainwave transmission!!
