Rising Shards

Evy & Stella #150: (Pippi Willowbee)

I was trying to think of a good way to ask Alix about family planning stuff. It was maybe too much to ask on a casual hanging out date, but we were on vacation. I told myself to try and get in a Stella mindset for this, I had a goal of a person in mind, screw getting tied up figuring out things like too soon or moving too fast.

Still, it was hard to find the exact words. Fortunately or not, fate got wind of my pleas and decided to answer the question for me in an absurd manner. Mahina rejoined us, having ran off her hangover, just in time for us to walk past a gazebo with some kind of office work party going on.

"OK, don't look, but...we maybe should go," Alix said.

"What's going on?" I asked.

Alix tried to hide behind a tree, but she chose a very small one that didn't block her at all.

I scanned the party for anything immediately suspicious. A big banner hung up over it read, "HAPPY 1ST WORK ANNIVERSARY JERUMIEE!" I assumed the worker wearing a cone shaped hat, a young man who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else, was Jerumiee.

"We can go, we got plenty to do today still," Stella said.

"Well, wait," I said. "I just...wanna know what's going on?"

Alix scuttled from the tree to hide behind a bench. She poked her head up.

"Well. Long story short, I had a major MILF phase," Alix said.

"Kay, you can't start like that and not give some detail," Mahina said.

"I can, I can! Just...let's go somewhere else!" Alix said.

We retreated far enough away that no one in the party could see us.

"OK, so MILF phase, let's hear the rest," Mahina said.

"You seem to get in a lot of...situations," Evy said.

"I do, I have such bad luck," Alix said.

"I...don't know if I'd call it bad luck," Stella said. She saw my sour expression and added, "...but maybe it is!"

"So, yes, I was working as a maid, great way to meet people by the way, especially of the MILF variety," Alix started. "And that career brought me to this very town, where I got a job working for an incredibly wealthy and gorgeous woman named Darli. One thing led to another, and what started as casual flirting between maid and mistress ended up with a lot of...arson-adjacent relationship drama. And the son of one of those dramas is having a party right there. Who kinda super hates me and said I should never show my face in this town again."

Stunned silence answered her. I had a lot of follow up questions, but I wasn't sure where to begin. This was of course not something that came up in Alix's books, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were many books' worth of things to learn about Alix that didn't come up in those.

"Where do we even start with that?" Evy asked.

"This maybe would have been a good thing to bring up before we decided to go here," Mahina said.

"It's such a big city I didn't think we'd actually see him!" Alix said.

"Well...that's..." I said.

"Maybe...let's get ice cream!" Stella suggested. "At a place far away?"

"Yeah, that might be a good—AHHHHH!" Alix was interrupted by her own shriek, as Jerumiee approached without any of us noticing.

"Are you going to ruin this party too?" He asked.
