Rising Shards

Evy & Stella #173 (Pippi Willowbee)

The school had been going through pretty constant upheaval since I got hired. We recently got new bosses in Kitty Kilander and Caya Kilander, the boys' side of the school was moving now, with the boys' taking the campus at Wildfire Hearts and the Wildfire Hearts students moving fully over here.

The college I worked at prior to this had similar regular complete shifts like this, so I was kinda used to it and figured it was just a Cani school thing in general. Still, this move was going to be a pain to me. IT job plus a bunch of new students meant I had a lot of devices and accounts to configure. The few Wildfire Hearts students that had been over so far meant some very long shifts crammed with getting everything ready.

That tidal wave of work hadn't hit yet, so I took one of my early breaks to visit Stella at the library. She wasn't at the front desk, so she sat with me at one of the various tables spread across the library. Stella kept glancing at the banners hanging from the second floor's railings, that read "Rising Shards | Wildfire Hearts: The Faculty and Staff Era."

"I didn't hang those up, obviously," Stella said.

"Obviously, they're all around the school," I said. "Seems they're really trying to make sure we're happy with the moves and such."

"I bet the Wildfire Hearts teachers that are coming in are total divas and need to be coddled," I said.

"Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest," Stella said.

"Though if Kitty came up to me and said she put them up, I'd probably be cool with it."

Stella squinted. "Are you...a big Kitty fan now?"

"Well..." After making sure no one was in range to hear any of this, I explained to her a bit about how Alix and Kitty had flings, and that I was kinda daydreaming a bit since the vacation about bringing all three of us together.

"Huh..." Stella said. "Aren't you always saying how bad your luck is in polycules whenever I suggest you try them to fix relationship problems?"

"Yeah...but like! This could be different, Stella," I said.

"I don't mean it in a judgmental way, well it kind of came out that way," Stella said. "I guess I should add I obviously have your back, and want what's best for you."

"I know that," I said. "Remember how hard you pushed for me to make that mail carrier polycule to work out?"

"I still think it would've been good for all three of those mail carriers to have you," Stella said. "Well, the third was a bit iffy, but those first two for sure. If you do manage a polycule with Alix and Kitty...I hope it works for you! I personally would not want that, because it sounds like a lot of work."

"A polycule or dating Kitty and Alix?" I asked.

"I mean...like both?" Stella said. "I don't have anything against anyone who does have a polycule, I just don't know if I have the right temperament for it? I mean, I could, just...I dunno."

"It's hard to want more when you have such a winning partner, right? I totally get that!"

"That's it Pips! Like, Evy's really..." Stella trailed off.

"Yeah, I didn't...say that..." I said.

Stella turned to her side, where her younger sister Zeta sat.

"When the hell did you get here?" Stella asked.
