Chapter 948: Chapter 933: Ambush Battle (Part 17)
After confirming that Demmi was unharmed, Old Xu and Lei Tong let out a slight sigh of relief.
Although they understood what Demmi did this for, for safety’s sake, Old Xu still solemnly repeated the instructions given at the start of the mission: "Demmi, I know you’re putting yourself out there to help us out of trouble, but it’s too dangerous. I don’t want our operation to cause harm to you and Derek. So now, hurry back, and remember, no matter what happens, stay put in the classroom and don’t come out to take risks again. Understand?"
Demmi raised her eyebrows and looked at Old Xu, paused, then solemnly said, "Old Xu, with things having developed to this stage, do you think if something really happened, Derrick and I could be uninvolved? Heh, since we’re all in the same boat now..."
At this point, Demmi shook her head slightly with meaning, then changed the course of her words: "Alright! I’m going back to the room now, but you all, be careful, don’t let there be any more slip-ups like just now. Otherwise, if something goes wrong, we’re all done for."
The woman’s composure and calmness indeed surprised Old Xu. After all, she had just suffered a humiliation and was almost taken advantage of by beasts.
Yet, not only was she not scared out of her wits, she became even more composed.
For a woman like this, Old Xu, bred in the military, had much admiration.
Of course, this admiration had nothing to do with love; it was merely an attraction to a certain character quality.
Old Xu and Lei Tong bore no resentment against Demmi’s "lesson" from the heart. Old Xu patted Demmi on the shoulder, then he and Lei Tong stepped aside to clear a path.
Demmi straightened her messy attire, then stepped out of the women’s restroom.
Once out the door, Demmi maintained her lazy demeanor since her arrival, only with a slightly quicker pace.
One reason was the bitter cold of the midnight wind; another was that after experiencing that precarious scene, her only remaining thought was to return to Derrick’s embrace.
"Derrick!!" Back in the room, Demmi said not a single extra word, directly throwing herself into Derrick’s arms.
She could put on a strong front in front of Old Xu and Lei Tong; she could face the "Japanese" students’ THREAT for the bigger picture without a word.
But in front of Derrick, in front of this man whom she loved dearly, she could finally let go of everything, to enjoy the protection and embrace that a woman ought to have.
"Darling, tell me what happened? Did they..." Feeling Demmi’s constantly trembling body, dark scenarios floated in Derrick’s mind, making his heart clench. He was somewhat regretful for agreeing to Demmi’s request just now, allowing her to go outside alone for that dangerous rescue mission.
Demmi didn’t want to recall the course of events; to her, what happened in the past five minutes was a nightmare she never wanted to be mentioned again in her life.
"Don’t ask me, okay?" she buried her head deep in Derrick’s chest, as if only this way could she slightly calm her chaotic state of mind.
Derrick’s outstretched right hand hung stiffly in the air; Demmi’s response was like a needle pricking his chest.
He knew she didn’t want to worry him, but the more she was like this, the more guilty Derrick felt.
But considering Demmi’s current psychological state, Derrick decided to give up on persistently asking.
Finally, he slowly lowered his right hand that had been stuck in the air, gently stroking Demmi’s trembling petite body, softly comforting: "Alright then! Since you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t bring it up. I was wrong just now; I shouldn’t have let you go out. You’ve suffered, and I promise there won’t be a next time."
Meanwhile, while Derrick and Demmi were confiding in each other, Old Xu and Lei Tong weren’t idle in the women’s restroom.
They dragged the bodies of Sakuragi and Maeda, whose necks were snapped, into the bathroom stall, then closed the door to cover up the fact of their deaths.
After all, the disappearance of the two might attract the attention of other "Japanese" students; if someone wanted to check, at least the hidden bodies could delay for a few minutes more.
"Alright, let’s get out of here!" Time was tight, and Old Xu didn’t have the luxury to waste time in the women’s restroom.
According to the plan, their next step was to take out the scattered "Japanese" students one by one, capturing the "Japanese" students in the conference room in a complete sweep.
After meeting with Li Xiaoxin guarding the conference room door and confirming there was no movement inside from the "Japanese" students, Old Xu pointed to the right, signaling Lei Tong to clear the scattered "Japanese" students over there, while he took care of the left side.
As the saying goes, a night perfect for murder is one with a dark moon and strong winds, and it was precisely 3 AM. The dim night combined with the bleak northern wind truly provided an excellent assassination opportunity for the raiding team.
Except for Li Xiaoxin continuing to guard the conference room, Old Xu and Lei Tong immediately crouched and vanished into the darkness.
The tightly locked classroom doors were nothing to the Sharp Blade Company warriors; this most ordinary A-lock required only two fine wires to open.
Both Old Xu and Lei Tong had gone through corresponding training, and as for fine wires, the bag brought by Hua Biao and the others was already prepared with the necessary tools for the operation.
Old Xu fashioned a wire into a U-shape and inserted it into the lock hole, and once it was secure, he then sent in another straight wire.
Once everything was ready, Old Xu started to tremble his fingers. This seemingly aimless trembling actually contained significant skill.
Soon, accompanied by a "click" sound, Old Xu knew he had successfully picked the closed lock.
He then withdrew the tool inserted into the lock hole and gently pushed the classroom door, which immediately swung open.
Upon opening the door, Old Xu felt a rush of warmth; it was the result of the huge temperature difference inside the sealed room.
Similarly, as Old Xu felt the warm air inside, the outside’s wild wind poured into the classroom like a flood.
This sudden cold wind instantly startled the "Japanese" students awake, prompting them to curse out loud: "Baka! Who is it!? What time is it, coming in and not closing the door properly!!"
In just a few sentences, Old Xu gleaned several key points:
First: The others knew of his arrival. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have complained about not closing the door.
Second: Although the others knew of his arrival, they hadn’t confirmed his identity, or the tone wouldn’t have been this "kind."
Lastly: Old Xu realized that the "Japanese" students wouldn’t take long to confirm his identity, so he must deliver a fatal attack before they noticed anything unusual.
Thinking this, Old Xu simply stood up, and after casually closing the room door, he walked openly toward the "Japanese" students, with his head lowered and using the darkness as cover.
