"DUCHESS QUINZEL, I apologize for the inconvenience earlier."
The ’inconvenience’ being Regina Crowell.
Hanna almost smiled.
Duke Drayton used to defend Regina Crowell as if his life depended on it. But now, she’s nothing but a nuisance to him.
It was fascinating.
But, of course, that didn’t mean she fully trusted the young duke now.
"It’s alright, Duke Drayton," Hanna said, placing her teacup down on the saucer. After the commotion earlier, the young duke brought her to the team room in his manor. "And you don’t have to explain about Regina Crowell’s appearance. I can tell that she came unannounced and uninvited."
"Thank you for your understanding, Duchess Quinzel. I don’t know why Regina Crowell showed up either. But, rest assured, I have no contact with her prior to this. But, of course, you’re not obligated to believe me."
Hanna just smiled before changing the topic. "Let’s talk about the merchant that we caught, Duke Drayton. Did you find out who ordered him to hoard weapons with Darkness attribute?"
Rubin Drayton turned serious, and then he nodded firmly. "The merchant was one of Calyx de Luca’s subordinates."
Calyx de Luca, huh?
It was a name that Hanna heard after a long time.
I know that he’s still alive, but I’m annoyed that he’s still alive and kicking.

"I REALLY need to go now, Ruto," Neoma said while standing in front of the mirror and re-applying lipstick on her lips. Surprisingly, Ruto was hugging her from behind, nuzzling his face against her neck. "You’re not usually this clingy. Are you acting this way to remind me that I belong to you? All because the Ancient Devil approached me?"
Ruto didn’t answer verbally, but his arms around her waist tightened.
Aigoo.
"The Ancient Devil claims that he had absorbed all your emotions already, but it seems like you’re starting to regain them," Neoma said, smiling. "Is this the power of love?"
"It’s true that I’ve lost all my strong emotions for you because of the deal that I made with the Ancient Devil before," Ruto said carefully. "But who’s to say that those emotions can’t be born from my heart again?"
Right?
Neoma also thought the same.
Just like how she fell in love with Ruto again in this lifetime, it wouldn’t be impossible for Ruto to develop new and stronger feelings for her either.
And it was already happening.
"Don’t worry about the Ancient Devil. You know that I won’t reciprocate his feelings."
"I know that, but I’m still allowed to be upset that he approached you with impure intentions."
Pfft.
It was funny (and exciting) to see Ruto acting childishly when he was usually calm and composed.
And the best part?
He only acts like this around me.
"Ah, wait," Neoma said, patting Ruto’s arms around her waist. When Ruto lifted his head, they looked at each other in the mirror. "Hey, I entrusted Yurian to you, right?"
"The unicorn, who almost became an artificial Elemental Guardian?"
"Yes, that’s her."
After they rescued Yurian, Neoma entrusted the unicorn to Ruto.
She was busy at the time since she hadn’t reclaimed her place in the palace yet, so she left the unicorn to her man.
"Is she well?"
"Yes, she’s living well in the shelter that I prepared for her," Ruto said, pausing for a moment. "Should I send Yurian to the palace?"
"I really like how quick you are on the uptake, Ruto," Neoma said, leaning against Ruto’s chest. "Yes, please send her to the Imperial Palace as soon as possible."
It’s time for Yurian to reunite with her runaway daughter.

"Y-YOUR IMPERIAL Majesty, I can entrust my children to you, right?"
Nero almost rolled his eyes at King Glenn’s question.
It was probably the 100th time that he asked that.
But since King Glenn was now the king of Hazelden Kingdom— an allied nation of the empire— he had to control his expression.
He’s such a worrywart.
In fact, King Glenn hadn’t put Princess Monik and Prince Skylus yet.
The kids were still in the king’s arms.
Which wasn’t a surprising thing because King Glenn was a former Paladin.
He’s strong despite how pathetic he looks at the moment.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Nero answered politely. "You can entrust Princess Monik and Prince Skylus to me."
Actually, he only wanted Princess Monik to come.
But Prince Skylus insisted that he wanted to come and "play" with them, too.
Well, two divine babies are better than one.
"Daddy, we’ll be fine," Princess Monik said while gently patting King Glenn’s shoulder. "You can put us down now. We can’t leave like this!"
"Daddy, if you can’t trust Nero Hyung, then you can just trust Dahlia Noona," Prince Skylus said, his eyes sparkling. "Dahlia Noona will accompany us!"
Right.
Dahlia would join them because Nero figured he couldn’t handle two kids.
No, he didn’t choose Dahlia because she was a woman— he chose her because she was one of the few people who had powers similar to the divine power that the kids possessed.
So, in case something happened, Dahlia could protect the children.
Prince Skylus and Princess Monik are still royalty, so we should be extra careful.
Moreover, well, Nero needed Dahlia to be near him.
He was leaving the Imperial Palace for the first time in a while, so he had to be prepared in case he suddenly lost his mind.
Neoma wasn’t there to calm him down.
So, I can only depend on Dahlia on that part.
"I-I’ll take care of Prince Skylus and Princess Monik," Dahlia said determinedly while looking at King Glenn. "I’ll protect them, Your Majesty."
Only then did King Glenn finally put the kids down on the floor.
As soon as Prince Skylus and Princess Monik’s shoes touched the ground, the kids immediately ran towards Nero.
"Oppa, let’s go."
"Hyung, I’m excited!"
Nero noticed Melvin Luchessi and his knights’ pupils shaking.
Ah, they’re probably shocked that I’m letting the children address me casually.
It wasn’t really a big deal to him.
"Your Imperial Majesty, please don’t make my children do anything that might put their lives at risk. I understand that they have big roles to fulfill, but please remember that they are still young children," King Glenn said in a serious tone. But his eyes were practically begging Nero to be extra, extra careful. "I pray for your safe return."
"Don’t worry, I’ll bring your children home safely," Nero said, confident that nothing bad would happen to the children. It was just a short trip anyway. "We’re just going to visit the old temple of the Light Goddess."

WHEN Neoma returned to the Imperial Palace, thanks to Veton, the person who was waiting for her was none other than Mama Boss.
Yes, her mother was alone.
Anyway, she thanked Veton first before approaching Mama Boss.
Veton had already disappeared by then.
Teleportation skills are really cool as hell.
"You’re alone, Mama Boss?" Neoma asked teasingly. "It’s rare to see you without Papa Boss."
"Ah, your father is busy training right now," Mama Boss explained as they walked hand in hand. "Since he’ll be coming with you to the Upper World as one of your Battle Representatives, he wants to train again. Without his Soul Beasts this time. After all, he’s not certain if he can bring the Soul Beasts with him for the fight."
Right.
Neoma already told her father that she’d be moving her Sapling to the Imperial Palace, but since she didn’t tell them how she would be able to do that, her father was probably thinking that it may not happen at all.
Oh, well.
Training without his Soul Beasts is a good thing anyway, so let’s just leave him be.
"Thank you for telling me, Mama Boss. By the way, where’s Nero?"
"You can tell that your brother isn’t at the palace?"
"Yeah, I just know," Neoma said, laughing softly because she also realized that it was weird that she could tell immediately that Nero wasn’t there. "Maybe it’s because we’re twins? We’ve always had a special bond, after all."
Mama Boss just smiled warmly at her. "Nero went outside with Prince Skylus and Princess Monik."
"Huh? Where are they going?"
"To the ruined temple of the Light Goddess," Mama Boss explained. Her mother was smiling, but she could tell that she was worried. "I don’t know why Nero brought the kids there either."
Ah.
Neoma knew why.
Is it because of the plan that I didn’t even discuss with him properly?
Nero was really a crazy bastard.
***
IT WAS practically a ghost town.
The place where the temple of the Light Goddess should be was in the heart of a town that didn’t exist anymore.
Hence, it was now brimming with either beggars or criminals.
It was a dangerous place, but not for Nero and his group.
Even though they were wearing hooded cloaks that covered their heads and bodies, it was still obvious that they were at least nobles.
That was why the lowlives tried to rob and attack them.
Of course, his knights immediately took care of the criminals.
"Close your eyes," Dahlia said to Princess Monik and Prince Skylus, the three walking behind them. "Don’t look. It’s not a good sight for children."
"Don’t worry, I told them not to kill those people. My knights are just knocking them out," Nero said nonchalantly, even though he knew that it wasn’t the point. "Ah, I think we’re already here."
Nero stopped walking, staring at the empty land before him.
But it won’t be empty for long.
