Chapter 36: Chapter 35: Chaos

Wang Qiang and his friends had just gotten out of their car when he started complaining, "This road is awful. If I’d known it would be like this, I wouldn’t have come."

"They already said during the livestream that this place is remote and the mountain roads are tough. We’re already here, so stop complaining. Let’s just go up and have a look."

Thanks to Hu Xia’s livestream, they already knew a bit about Lin Xian Village. They knew it was still under construction, so they headed straight for the Arrow Tower.

Seeing that the path had clearly been swept clean, their moods improved slightly.

When they reached the Arrow Tower, they learned there was a fee. It was 50 yuan for the Arrow Tower and 50 for the astronomical telescope. Although the ticket was valid for the whole day, each turn was limited to ten minutes, which left them feeling a little disgruntled.

But they had come all this way, so they couldn’t just skip the experience because of a fee. Plus, they could try archery, so they paid up.

After buying their tickets, the group took out their phones and switched to camera mode.

"Holy crap! It’s actually real! The effect is even more exaggerated than what we saw on the livestream!"

"This is incredible! What on earth is causing this?"

"This was well worth the 50 yuan! It’s so magical, it feels unbelievable!"

"Quick, take pictures and post videos! Besides yesterday’s tourists, it looks like we’re the first batch today."

After experiencing the Arrow Tower’s wonders, they suddenly felt the 50-yuan ticket price wasn’t expensive at all. The experience was just that good.

The group even coordinated with each other, with some standing on top of the Arrow Tower and others below, to capture the scenery from both perspectives at the same time.

They savored the bizarre sensation for a while, then tried out the Bow and Arrow. Unfortunately, none of them had ever learned archery. Although they could clearly see the targets at various positions, hitting them was another matter entirely.

When they realized that more than ten minutes had passed and no one had come to rush them out, their moods improved even more.

However, once the initial shock and amazement wore off, the only thing left to do was play with the Bow and Arrow, and ten-odd minutes was enough for that.

As they were coming out, they ran into some hesitant tourists who were debating whether to buy tickets.

"Hey man, did you guys go in? How was it?"

"All I can say is, it’s amazing. You have to experience it for yourself to understand how magical it is. The only thing is, the attractions are a bit limited. I hope the owner can develop more activities."

"That’s good to hear. I was worried it was just a scam to make a quick buck. I’m going to buy a ticket and check it out right now."

As word of mouth spread among the tourists, everyone who came learned that the Arrow Tower was genuinely as magical as advertised and not a scam.

Of course, all the tourists who had experienced it commented that there were too few activities. The Arrow Tower and the astronomical telescope only took about an hour to get through.

Lin Feng heard this feedback as well, but there was nothing he could do. He simply hadn’t had any time to develop new attractions.

However, with the massive influx of tourists, the village had become much more chaotic. Some ill-mannered tourists were wandering all over the place.

Various problems began to surface, such as a lack of rest areas and too few Toilets.

Fortunately, once his father and Hu Xia arrived and helped handle some matters, Lin Feng, who had been run off his feet, finally had a moment to rest.

"If I’d known it would be like this, I might as well have not opened to the public yet," Lin Feng said, rubbing his calves.

Hu Xia said, "Once this wave of hype dies down, there won’t be so many people. Your place really can’t handle this many tourists. It would be better to set up online ticketing and limit the number of visitors."

"When you go live in a bit, explain the situation. We need to prevent more tourists from showing up all at once because they don’t know what’s going on."

"I already mentioned it during my last stream. Most of the tourists here now are from nearby areas who rushed over today."

Zhao Shiyun sat there, looking obviously bored. She had thought that with the arrival of tourists, she would be able to sell her Medicinal Tea, but not a single person had bought any.

Watching everyone bustling about, she wanted to help but had no idea what to do.

Ma Dehua came up from the base of the mountain, wiping the sweat from his brow. "Xiaofeng, have there been any problems up here on the mountain?" he asked.

Lin Feng poured a cup of water and handed it to him. "No, Uncle Ma. How are things down below?"

"It’s total chaos down there. Cars are everywhere, with nowhere to park. The county is now blocking traffic and telling tourists who want to come up to take the public bus instead."

"That’s good. Otherwise, who knows how long this mountain road would be jammed."

"It’s a little chaotic, but the number of tourists is truly massive. I just went to check, and all the restaurants in town are fully booked."

"We need to keep an eye out and make sure no one starts price gouging or that there are any hygiene issues."

"Don’t worry. I’ve pulled people from some of the restaurants to form a special inspection team. They know the situation here better than we do. I doubt any restaurant would dare to cause trouble at a time like this."

Lin Feng gave him a thumbs-up. "Uncle Ma, that’s a brilliant move. If every industry did that, we could definitely stamp out some illegal practices."

Some things, people within the industry know far better than official inspectors. Having them participate in inspections—and inspect their peers, no less—was indeed a ruthless tactic.

After seeing Uncle Ma off, Lin Feng was about to do a lap to check for any unexpected issues when he got a call from Wang Peng.

The man hadn’t driven his car up; he had also taken the bus.

When Lin Feng met him at the village entrance, Wang Peng was curiously observing the tourists.

"It’s really hard to get into your place!"

"You just have impeccable timing, Boss Wang. Because of the livestream, a huge wave of tourists happened to come today."

"Boss Lin, Professor Qian wants to see the vineyard in person. Shall we head over now?"

He couldn’t afford to waste time with Lin Feng. Lin Feng had already brought in his own expert to study the vines, so he had to press on as well.

Lin Feng glanced at Professor Qian standing beside Wang Peng and said nothing more, leading them to the vineyard.

In fact, quite a few tourists also wanted to come over and see it. Many had watched the livestream and knew about the exorbitantly priced grapes here.

They had expected the grapes to be for sale, but upon asking, they learned that the grapes had long been sold out, and the next harvest was already pre-ordered.

Some people had initially thought Lin Feng would use the grapes to rip them off. After learning the truth, they had mixed feelings.

"Zhou Yongqiang, it really is you!"

Hearing someone call his name, Zhou Yongqiang turned to see it was Qian Tu, and his mood soured.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, turning his head to look at Lin Feng.

"The same as you, of course. To study the grapes."

Listening to the tone of their conversation, Lin Feng could tell there was clearly some personal animosity between the two.

"Professor Zhou, this is the person Boss Wang hired to study the grapes."

Zhou Yongqiang was, of course, aware that Lin Feng had sold the grapevines. When he first heard the news, he had thought Lin Feng was an idiot.

But after studying the vines for two days, he realized the man wasn’t an idiot at all; he had a very clear understanding of the situation.

"Hmph! Then let’s see what Professor Qian can figure out."

He had tried numerous methods to solve the problem of the vines deactivating, but nothing had worked.

Moreover, even when he tried transplanting them right here on-site, the vines still died. There was simply no way to make it work.

This wasn’t an environmental issue; it was an inherent limitation of the grapes themselves.

But Qian Tu wasn’t willing to let Zhou Yongqiang off so easily. He had been studying them for so long; he must have made some discoveries.

"Old Zhou, you’ve been here for a few days. Made any discoveries? To be honest with you, I’ve tried all sorts of methods and found no way to stop the vines from deactivating."

"No. If you want to know the answer, go figure it out yourself. Let’s not interfere with each other."

Having collaborated with Qian Tu before, Zhou Yongqiang knew exactly what kind of person he was. He’d have to be out of his mind to tell him anything.

"Professor Qian, you go ahead and start your research. Call me if you need anything. I’m going to have a chat with Boss Lin over there."

Wang Peng pulled Lin Feng into a small building nearby. "Boss Lin, tell me the truth. Is it really impossible to transplant the grapevines?"

"When you bought the vines, I warned you repeatedly. If they could really be transplanted, do you think I’m stupid enough to sell them to you?"

Wang Peng’s face fell at Lin Feng’s response. In truth, when Professor Qian had been unable to do anything about the vines, he had already known this would be the outcome. He just couldn’t bring himself to believe it.

"Thank you for teaching me a lesson, Boss Lin. If a method for transplanting is ever found in the future, I hope we can cooperate."

Although he was certain the grapes couldn’t be transplanted, Wang Peng didn’t leave with Professor Qian. The money had already been spent, so he might as well let the professor conduct a detailed investigation, if only to give himself some closure.
