Nicholas’s POV

Nicholas was in his office going through territory reports when the bond flared.

Not flared, it Ignited.

He dropped the paper.

His hand went to his chest.

Kael surged forward hard enough to make him gasp.

"What the fuck!"

The bond was burning.

Not pain.

Heat.

Arousal.

Fear.

All of it tangled together and slamming into him through Lilith’s side of the connection.

She was terrified.

She was running.

The door to his office exploded open.

Lucian stood in the doorway.

Eyes already gold and he was breathing hard.

"That bastard is going to kill her." lucian said.

Nicholas was on his feet.

"What." he said.

"Sebastian. Rhen. Lilith is in the fucking woods and Rhen has her." Lucian said looking frstrated.

"How do you know?" Nicholas asked.

"I can feel it. The incomplete bond....it is not stable like yours but I can feel her. She is scared out of her mind and Sebastian is not answering the mindlink."

Nicholas reached for the bond immediately.

The three of them...Nicholas, Sebastian, Lucian shared a private link separate from the pack.

He pushed into it.

Sebastian.

Nothing.

Sebastian answer me right now.

Blocked.

Completely blocked.

Lucian’s hands were shaking.

"He blocked us out." he said.

"I know." Nicholas replied.

"He fucking blocked us out which means Rhen is in control and Lilith is alone with him." Lucian said.

Nicholas moved toward the door.

Lucian was already ahead of him.

They ran.

Through the hall.

Down the stairs.

Past a maid who flattened herself against the wall when she saw them.

Out the front door.

The night air hit them cold and sharp.

Nicholas scanned the tree line.

Lucian was pacing, his eyes blazing which means that Zev was close to taking over.

His claws already out.

"Where the fuck are they." he cursed.

"The woods. South side based on the bond direction." Nicholas said.

"We need to go now." Lucian said, already turning to go, but Nicholas grabbed his arm.

"Wait." he said.

"Wait? Are you fucking serious right now? Rhen could be...." Lucian said.

"If we go charging in there and Rhen is already on edge we make it worse. We could trigger him." Nicholas said, looking at his brother’s frustrated expression.

Lucian ripped his arm free.

"So what. We just stand here while he does god knows what to her?" he asked.

"We reach him through the link first." Nicholas replied.

"He blocked us." Lucian said.

"Then we push harder." Nicholas replied and closed his eyes and shoved into the mindlink with everything he had.

"Sebastian if you can hear me you need to answer me right now. Lilith is terrified. Rhen needs to stand down."

Still nothing.

Lucian tried.

*You stupid fuck if you hurt her I will rip Rhen apart myself.*Lucian screamed into the mindlink.

Still.....Silence.

Then the block lifted and Sebastian’s voice came through.

He sounded calm and genuinely amused, Smug as hell.

Relax....

Nicholas felt his blood pressure spike.

"Relax?" What the fuck do you think you are doing? Why would you let Rhen near her when he is not stable?

Sebastian’s laughter rolled through the link.

Low and dark.

"She came to me." he said.

Lucian growled out loud.

Bullshit!

" I am not lying brother. She walked into the woods by herself. Found me mid-shift. Watched the whole thing. Then ran."

Nicholas’s jaw clenched.

"And you chased her?" he asked.

"Rhen chased her. And caught her. And now she is exactly where she wants to be." Sebastian replied.

"Sebastian...." Nicholas started saying but was cut offf by Sebastian.

"I have everything under control Nicholas. She is safe. She is mine. And if you do not mind I have a mate to fuck."

The mindlink went silent for half a second.

Then Sebastian’s voice came back, dripping with amusement.

"Actually....if you want you can come watch. I can give you a show."

Lucian took a step forward.

His claws fully out now.

"That bastard!" He cursed.

Sebastian cut the link.

Completely.

The block slammed back into place.

Nicholas stood there.

Fists clenched.

Kael snarling inside his chest.

Lucian turned to him.

"We are going in there."

"No." Nicholas said.

"No? He just...."

"He said she is safe."

"He said Rhen chased her down and now he is fucking her in the woods. That is not safe."

"She is his mate. The bond would not let him hurt her."

"The bond is incomplete. Rhen does not have the anchor you have. He could lose control."

Nicholas looked at him.

Really looked.

Lucian’s eyes were solid gold.

His breathing uneven.

His whole body vibrating.

This was not about Lilith’s safety.

This was about Lucian wanting what Sebastian had.

Wanting to be the one with her.

Wanting his own bond complete.

Nicholas stepped closer.

Dropped his voice.

"She chose to go into the woods. She chose to stay when she saw him shift. She did not run until after the transformation was complete and even then Sebastian said she is where she wants to be."

"You are taking his word for it?" Lucian asked looking at Nicholas.

"I am trusting our brother."

"Our brother just told us to fuck off so he could rail our mate."

"Yes. He did."

Lucian stared at him.

"And you are fine with that."

"No. But I am not going to interrupt it either."

"Why the fuck not?"

"Because she needs this."

Lucian went still.

Nicholas continued.

"She needs to see what we are. All of us. Not just me with Kael on a leash. She needs to see the wolf. She needs to feel it. She needs to know what she is bonding herself to before the next marking happens."

"And if he loses control?"

"Then we go in. But until I feel her fear through the bond again we stay here."

Lucian’s claws retracted slowly.

His breathing evened out.

Zev pulled back.

He looked toward the woods.

"I hate this."

"I know."

"I should be the one there with her."

"I know."

They stood in silence.

The bond was still open on Nicholas’s end.

He could feel Lilith.

Arousal.

Confusion.

Anticipation.

No fear.

Not anymore.

Lucian felt it too.

He closed his eyes.

"Fuck!" Lucian said.

"Yeah." Nicholas replied.

Then Lucian turned and walked back toward the estate.

Nicholas stayed outside.

Watching the tree line.

Kael pacing inside his chest.

He was Jealous, being the eldest of them, he was more possessive of their mate.

He Wanted to be the one with their mate right now.

Nicholas pushed it down and waited.

The bond flared again.

Pleasure this time.

It was Sharp and Overwhelming.

Hers and Sebastian’s tangled together.

Nicholas turned and walked back inside the house.
