Sage of Humanity

Chapter 2220 - 2218: Secret

The armored figure was shattered, leaving behind a dim glow, from which Lu Ye sensed the aura of Dao force!

However, the Blood Race cultivator reached out and grabbed the glow, directly stuffing it into his mouth under Lu Ye's astonished gaze.

Lu Ye pondered thoughtfully.

After completing this, the Blood Race cultivator called out, "Let's go!"

He stepped forward first, though his expression was cautious. Lu Ye quietly followed behind him.

A moment later, the Blood Race stopped, as there was another anomaly ahead. Lu Ye watched as a bizarre figure appeared out of thin air, blocking the way.

This figure's shape was a bit different from the previous armored one; at first glance, it looked like a leopard, a common wild beast in the mountains.

But like the armored figure, it showed no sign of life.

This was undoubtedly another projection of power!

The Blood Race said nothing, stepping forward to engage with the leopard, quickly resolving it. Another glow was left behind, which the Blood Race grabbed and stuffed into his mouth once more.

Lu Ye speculated that the glow might contain pure Dao force. By consuming it, the Blood Race could replenish his own expended Dao force, but the exact amount of remaining Dao force was only known to the Blood Race.

What kind of place was this? Why were there so many anomalies?

As they journeyed on, shadows blocking the path would occasionally appear in the passage. Some were humanoid, others beast-like, and of various races. But the further they went, the stronger these figures seemed to be.

Initially, the Blood Race could easily deal with those blocking the way, but as time passed, it became increasingly tough.

The power he displayed was far beyond an ordinary Beginner Realm, yet he had no Dao artifact.

Lu Ye showed a curious expression.

After more than half a day, and after several tough battles, the two finally reached the end of the passage.

At the end stood a grand, ancient bronze door, extremely thick, with two guardian-like figures standing on either side.

The Blood Race's expression grew extremely solemn; even with his strength, defeating these two guards would not be a simple task.

He turned and cautioned Lu Ye, "Stay back."

Lu Ye effortlessly retreated a hundred steps backward.

The Blood Race nodded satisfied, then turned back, summoning the Blood Sea to charge forward!

In earlier battles, he hadn't bothered to use the Blood Sea because it wasn't needed, but this time was different. He had confidence he could defeat one, but not two without the Blood Sea as support.

Lu Ye watched from a distance, somewhat bored.

The battle lasted for half a day. When the Blood Sea finally dispersed, the Blood Race's tired form emerged, covered with numerous wounds.

Originally blood-red, his skin had turned slightly pale from the enormous exertion.

He directly sat cross-legged on the ground, silently recovering.

Quite a while later, he stood up and looked towards Lu Ye from afar, waving, "It's done!"

Lu Ye stepped towards him.

Shortly, both figures stood before the bronze door, and the Blood Race exerted force to push it open.

A grand hall came into Lu Ye's view.

The Blood Race entered first, with Lu Ye closely following.

Looking around, the hall was empty, with only a central elevation that looked like the altar Lu Ye had seen before.

"Let's go!" said the Blood Race, leading Lu Ye toward the altar.

Lu Ye's eyes flickered as he followed, stepping onto the altar, looking down to find a network of intricate, complex lines crisscrossed across its surface.

The Blood Race stood beside him, Dao force beginning to surge, infusing into the altar beneath them.

The intricate lines began to glow slowly.

"What is this place?" Lu Ye suddenly asked.

The Blood Race paid no mind, continuing to concentrate on channeling Dao force. If not for the Insect Matriarch's orders, he wouldn't be putting in so much effort. He couldn't understand what was so special about this human that the Insect Matriarch would throw him in here and have him rescued.

"I'm talking to you," Lu Ye's voice was calm.

However, the Blood Race seemed to be hit by lightning, as the surging Dao force seemed to be smoothed out by an invisible hand, causing him to involuntarily kneel.

The immense pressure came and went quickly, as if a mere illusion.

Kneeling on the ground, the Blood Race finally realized his clothes were soaked. He turned to gaze at Lu Ye with a strange expression, puzzled and unsure.

Lu Ye stood quietly beside him, looking down with his usual calm demeanor.

It seemed the recent changes had nothing to do with him.

The Blood Race cultivator rushed to his feet, staring at Lu Ye for a moment, "What... did you do?"

"First, answer my question. I asked you several times already."

The Blood Race's expression darkened as he snorted coldly, "Putting on an act, I'll knock you out first!"

The task given by the Insect Matriarch was paramount, knocking him out would be enough to take him away.

At an extremely close distance, he threw a punch.

With a loud crash, a figure flew up like a ragged sack, hitting the wall of the grand hall hard, rebounding a bit, and falling to the ground.

The Blood Race was stunned!

Though he hadn't used his full strength just now, he wielded the power of sixteen Dao. Yet, with a mere wave of Lu Ye's hand, his power instantly dissipated.

He felt as fragile as an egg hitting a rock, utterly unable to withstand the blow.

His whole body ached. From just this one blow, he felt he had sustained severe injuries.

As he was about to get up, a figure appeared beside him.

The Blood Race cultivator looked up, astonished: "Dao Fusion?"

Only a Dao Fusion cultivator could injure him so easily!

But he quickly called out, "No, you're not a Dao Fusion. This relic prohibits Dao Fusion from entering!"

"Relic?" Lu Ye raised an eyebrow, "What kind of relic is this?"

The Blood Race seemed not to hear, utterly horrified and unable to think, blurting out, "Who are you really?"

This human seemed very suspicious, no wonder the Insect Matriarch was so concerned.

Lu Ye frowned. He had many questions, but this Blood Race seemed in no state to answer, his responses were erratic.

As the intensity of the saintliness surged, the Blood Race's eyes widened, feeling the prior pressure again. He slumped to the ground, his initial terror now mixed with deep awe, his lips trembling, but he couldn't utter a word.

Lu Ye looked down at him, his expression indifferent, like a deity gazing at an ant from above.

The terrifying saintliness suddenly withdrew.

The Blood Race gasped for breath, struggling to regain his composure.

Lu Ye waited for a moment before speaking, "Can you talk now?"

The Blood Race slowly got up, giving him a timid glance, "What does my lord wish to know?"

He obviously misunderstood Lu Ye's identity, assuming him to be a Blood Race, as disguised as a human, which wasn't uncommon. What puzzled him was the terrifying saintliness of Lu Ye's.

He had experienced the saintliness of several Dao Fusion Blood Races, but compared to Lu Ye, theirs was not even worthy.

Since Lu Ye could appear here, he couldn't possibly be Dao Fusion.

"Tell me everything you know."

The Blood Race cultivator steadied his mind and then slowly began to speak.

After one incense stick's time, Lu Ye gradually understood the current situation.

"So, this is an ancient relic, possibly hiding a way to leave Banlan?" Lu Ye's expression was strange.

Since entering Banlan, he had been searching for a way out, but to no avail.

He hadn't expected to learn some clues from a Blood Race today, truly finding water without effort after a long quest.

"It's just a legend, no one has confirmed it to this day," the Blood Race cultivator replied respectfully.

The reason no one had confirmed it was that the way out supposedly lay deep within the relic. But with the Blood Race's strength, he could only explore up to this grand hall. To go deeper, his strength was insufficient, and where exactly the deepest part was, he had no idea.

Not only the Insect and Blood Races were exploring this relic, but the human battle alliance and the Giant Race were also involved in the exploration.

Because Dao Fusion cultivators couldn't enter this relic, only Enter the Path cultivators were eligible to explore it.

Not ordinary Enter the Path cultivators, but those possessing giant ants, as the figures within the passageway wield powers beyond average Enter the Path cultivators, even those armed with top-grade Dao artifacts.

This Blood Race had a giant ant on him.

Lu Ye had speculated that the Blood Race's displayed strength far exceeded the Beginner level, which was obviously abnormal.

Besides possessing giant ants, Lu Ye couldn't think of any other Enter the Path cultivator that could wield such power.

This reminded him that Zi Ying had told him, there were currently five giant ants with a clear belonging: one with the humans, one with the Giant Race, two with the Insect and Blood Races, and the one Lu Ye had taken was drafted by the Yan family, giving the humans two.

But her understanding of the five was incorrect because the one Lu Ye took was seized from an Insect Race cultivator, so there were actually only four.

The Insect Race's giant ant was taken by him, and the Blood Race's giant ant was now right in front of him...

Lu Ye recalled that Zi Ying said the giant ants weren't merely ancient relic Dao artifacts but were tied to something bigger, which is why the top families valued them so highly.

At the time, he didn't understand what this entanglement was, but now he did.

The entanglement with the giant ants was evidently the eligibility to explore this relic.

And that Huang Zhihuan from the Huang family, though exceptionally gifted, trapped himself at the Entering Tao Realm for hundreds of years without advancement, not because he couldn't ascend to Dao Fusion.

It's either self-restraint or orders from the Huang family.

Because advancing to Dao Fusion meant he couldn't continue exploring the relic, he aimed to find a way out within it.

Yan Hong was the same; he could have already begun preparations for ascending to Dao Fusion, but after acquiring a giant ant, he gave it up, likely to explore the relic.

Within this grand hall, besides the altar at the center, there were only two large doors. One door was where Lu Ye and the Blood Race entered, and directly opposite was another tightly closed door.

Lu Ye turned his gaze in that direction, "What's there?"

The Blood Race responded respectfully, "Another passage, but the tests there are much stricter. I tried, but I'm not a match."

Lu Ye understood, knowing that with the Blood Race's strength, even possessing a giant ant, he could only explore up to here and couldn't go any further.
