After a moment, the female cultivator standing guard outside the domain fragment suddenly received a message from her companion. She looked shocked and quickly flew to her companion's location.
In a hidden place, the female cultivator flashed inside.
At a glance, she saw her companion and a body lying not far away in a pool of blood, precisely the enemy they had been chasing before and later taken away by her companion.
However, at this moment, the enemy's clothing was torn into pieces, their snow-white body covered with wounds and filth from torture. The wounds mostly showed bite marks, and with eyes wide open, it seemed as though the enemy only had one last breath left, yet was close to death.
The female cultivator turned away in disgust. She had discovered her companion's vile hobby shortly after partnering with them. In other environments, she certainly wouldn't tolerate it, but given the circumstances, she disliked it yet couldn't afford to confront her companion, choosing to ignore the unpleasantness.
"What's going on?" She stepped forward and casually dispatched the humiliated enemy.
The male cultivator enthusiastically gazed ahead: "Look, is there a formation here?"
The female cultivator paused and immediately observed seriously: "There are indeed traces of a formation shrouding this place."
Her expertise in the Array Path was much stronger than her companion, so she could easily discern some clues.
"Take action!" The male cultivator was excited, and as he spoke, he fiercely channeled his Dao force to attack ahead.
If there's a formation, it indicates someone hiding inside. Since he had been troubling outside with no response from the hidden, it undoubtedly meant that the cultivator hiding within had low strength, hence did not dare reveal themselves.
This was an excellent prey!
When he struck, the female cultivator didn't hesitate and followed suit.
Contrary to their expectations, the formation here was pretty decent, yet it seemed not to focus on defense but primarily on vigilance, allowing them to break it open easily.
A dark and elliptic cocoon emerged into their view.
"What's this?" the female cultivator asked in astonishment. She thought a participating cultivator was hiding within the formation, but instead, there was just a cocoon.
The male cultivator hesitated a bit, feeling a bit displeased as things weren't as expected.
He extended his Mental Consciousness to probe but detected no signs of life within the cocoon. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be formed from gathered blood, coagulated and turned dark after drying.
"Could this be some exotic treasure?" The male cultivator thought impulsively, becoming invigorated.
Being rash by nature, once he considered the cocoon might contain treasures, he couldn't help but punch out, shattering the cocoon.
What came into sight made him feel confused.
The cocoon contained no treasure, only a withered corpse!
But why would there be a withered corpse in such a place?
After pondering briefly, the male cultivator strode forward to investigate further, but the female cultivator hurriedly warned, "Be careful!"
Despite disliking her temporary companion's temperament and hobbies, she appreciated his strength. Since they were partners now, she certainly didn't wish him to encounter any trouble.
He waved carelessly and approached the withered corpse, his interest piqued, reaching for the sword at the corpse's waist.
He drew the sword from the sheath, examined it briefly, and furrowed his brows slightly.
The sword felt oddly like a Dao soldier, yet not exactly. Despite years of cultivation, he had never seen such a weapon.
He proceeded to take a storage ring from the corpse's hand and enthusiastically probed.
He thought he might need to unlock a restriction lock or something, but the storage ring contained no such lock. Using his Mental Consciousness to check, he frowned: "So poor?"
The storage ring contained none of the good items, merely worthless miscellaneous objects.
He had never seen such a poverty-stricken cultivator.
Perhaps this one was a native of this stellar space fragment?
Feeling disappointed about gaining no benefits, he reflexively swiped to apparently vent his dissatisfaction and turned to leave.
Two steps out, he noticed his companion glaring behind in surprise.
"What's wrong?" He asked curiously and turned to look, freezing in place.
The withered corpse had fallen to the ground yet remained seated, not shattering as expected. Instead, the dim skin on the corpse's surface shattered under his casual swipe.
Golden light poured out from the shattered area, dazzling to the extreme!
The male cultivator turned and exchanged a glance with his companion, both intrigued as they approached the withered corpse. After some busying, the corpse transformed significantly.
Sitting before them was now an intact skeleton, radiant and splendidly gleaming like it was cast from pure gold.
Strangely, even without any flesh, the skeleton showed no signs of loosening, seemingly held together by an invisible force tightly connecting the golden bones.
The male cultivator marveled but felt more puzzled, unable to fathom why the skeleton didn't fall apart after investigating in various ways.
Conversely, the female cultivator seemed to think of something, her expression suddenly became solemn, softly murmuring, and her eyes reflected disbelief.
"What did you say?" The male cultivator didn't catch his companion's words, so he asked.
The female cultivator steadied her mind before speaking: "Fellow Daoist, this is likely a Dao corpse!"
The male cultivator was taken aback. Though not as knowledgeable as the female cultivator, he had at least heard of secrets from higher realms. He was startled, "Are you saying this was left behind by someone after reaching Dao Harmony?"
"Not just that, at the very least, Peak Dao Harmony!"
This was already a complete Dao corpse, without any deficiencies, undoubtedly a sign of Dao Bone Great Perfection, achievable only at Peak Dao Harmony.
Neither could understand why a Dao corpse left behind by someone at Peak Dao Harmony appeared within this stellar space fragment used for Star Abyss Heirs to compete.
The female cultivator felt uneasy: "Fellow Daoist, we should leave quickly. I feel something is off."
The male cultivator wholeheartedly agreed: "I'll take him first!"
There's no telling how much Dao force this Dao corpse retains. Just from the pure gold light emanating from the Dao corpse, one can infer that the Dao force within it is abundant.
This was undoubtedly very valuable to the two of them.
The male cultivator tried to store the Dao corpse in his storage ring, but was unsuccessful.
Taking it away directly was even less realistic; such a Dao corpse would surely attract attention if brought out.
"Let's disassemble it together!" The male cultivator called out, immediately taking action.
The female cultivator hesitated, still uneasy but clearly unwilling to abandon the Dao corpse. She promptly helped.
Their power was quite formidable. Working together, they soon succeeded in removing a rib from the Dao corpse.
The male cultivator was delighted, about to store it away, when he sensed something amiss. Looking up, he met the empty eye sockets of the Dao corpse.
Though there was no flesh nor eyeballs, he suddenly felt a spine-chilling sensation, as if the Dao corpse was staring right at him!
"Watch out!" The female cultivator shouted in alarm, and her figure immediately drifted backward.
The male cultivator also instinctively reacted.
The next instant, both froze in mid-air, faces filled with terror, as the lifeless golden skeleton strangely began to move at an incredible speed.
Both were grabbed by the large hand extended by the skeleton, lifted in mid-air like two chicks.
Their 6th Order Dao Fusion power was useless despite all struggling and resistance; the golden skeleton's hand was immovable, holding them firmly!
More terrifying to them was the faint essence of life suddenly emanating from the skeleton.
This person... was not dead!
"Senior... spare us!" The female cultivator's face reddened, struggling to plead for mercy.
Regret filled her heart; she had long felt unease but was blinded by the temptation before her. Had she known the outcome, she shouldn't have stayed.
Now, facing a powerhouse at least Peak Dao Harmony cultivation, she and even fifty thousand Dao Fusion cultivators combined likely wouldn't stand a chance.
She was slightly puzzled because while the senior's power was beyond her resistance, it didn't feel as overwhelming as imagined...
No time to ponder further, as the skeleton's hands suddenly exerted force, sending her and her companion to Huang Quan.
Two Star Abyss Blessings almost simultaneously descended.
Lu Ye felt a bit strange...
As he hadn't yet figured out what happened.
After some thought, he remembered that after reaching Dao Bone Great Perfection, the Blood Race's Bloodline inheritance erupted, followed by some changes on his body.
Previously, he had entered a state of emptiness, unaware of the external world, until disturbed by some anomaly which brought him back.
With one "look," he saw the two cultivators before him, not understanding the situation; he acted first, killing them.
After dealing with the two cultivators, Lu Ye had time to examine himself. What he saw surprised him...
How did he end up like this?
Without flesh, only a body of Dao Bone remaining, enough to impersonate the Bone Race without anyone doubting.
Moreover... he noticed a rib missing.
It was where the male cultivator's corpse had disappeared.
He finally understood the anomaly that disturbed him, finding it laughable that even while alive, someone sought to disassemble his bones.
He lifted his hand, drew in the rib, placing it back in the abdominal cavity, integrating perfectly.
Despite the bizarre appearance, Lu Ye felt no discomfort; compared to before, he felt even more transparent within.
Fortunately this oddity was temporary because Lu Ye could sense a huge vitality rapidly forming within his bone marrow, flowing throughout his body.
