Chapter 1254: Chapter 1254: A Special Wedding (2)

The group of people were speaking French; as if afraid of disturbing the atmosphere of the church, they deliberately kept their voices very low.

But the sound of footsteps coming and going never disappeared.

Summer Sutton’s hands were stiff as she held the bouquet, her heart pounding nonstop with nerves.

Manuel Ink stood at the other end of the red carpet, quietly looking at her, his gaze as gentle as a summer night breeze.

He didn’t urge her to do anything; he just looked at her like that, waiting for her to make her own decision.

Summer was still struggling; she knew very clearly that the decision she made now would directly affect the lives of two people.

If she just stood there rigidly, without any reaction, and the people who’d rushed here noticed something off, both she and Manuel could end up in danger.

Summer had no time to think extra thoughts, and she had no other choice now; for her and Manuel to safely get out of this place, she could only go through with this act.

She slowly lifted her face, looked at Manuel at the other end of the red carpet, then, holding the bouquet, walked toward him step by step.

The church they were in actually wasn’t big, and the distance of the red carpet wasn’t far.

Yet to Summer, it felt like she could never reach the end.

She walked very slowly, each step heavy.

Behind them, the people pursuing them still hadn’t left; their gazes seemed to sweep in her direction, as if they were staring at her.

Summer didn’t dare look back; she kept walking toward Manuel.

On both sides of them, guests were still scattering flowers nonstop; the drifting petals made her facial features not so clearly visible at this moment.

The people chasing her and Manuel let their gazes linger on her for quite some time, as if distinguishing what was different between her figure and that of the woman following Manuel.

Summer felt the gaze from behind, her heart so tense it felt like it would jump out.

The red carpet still wasn’t finished; just as she was about to reach Manuel, he suddenly took a large step forward, yanked her into his arms, pressed her head against his chest, and wrapped his arms tightly around her.

"I’m really happy today!" His face close to her ear, his voice carried obvious joy.

The expression on his face was no different from that of any other newlywed.

For a moment, Summer couldn’t tell whether what he said was an act or his genuine thoughts.

The petals raining down over them after that grew even denser, the shower of flowers falling in a flurry, covering the two of them from view.

Manuel’s arms stayed around Summer, and his raised arm cleverly blocked her face from sight.

Summer had originally wanted to pull away, but she understood what he was doing.

He was shielding her, afraid that group behind them would recognize her.

Summer had always been quick-witted; she could basically read the intent behind anything Manuel did.

Quietly resting in his embrace, Summer didn’t push him away.

The image of the two of them holding each other looked no different from that of a real bride and groom.

The group that had been chasing them searched back and forth in the church for a long time, but, suspecting nothing, finally all went out.

Once the sound of their footsteps had receded into the distance, Manuel grabbed Summer and ran out, heading in the opposite direction from that group.

He hailed a cab, pushed her into it, and gave the driver the name of the airport.

The driver then drove them straight to the nearest airport.

After arriving at the airport, Manuel didn’t linger at all, and went directly to buy plane tickets to M Country.
