Chapter 1257: Chapter 1257: Let’s Break Up

Watt Bennet followed the address and drove to the apartment where Summer Sutton lived.

When he arrived, the door was tightly closed.

Watt knocked on the door, and Summer Sutton opened it.

She must have looked through the peephole to see him outside first, in a place where a single woman lives alone. It’s natural to make such a move when someone knocks on the door.

Before opening the door, Summer already knew it was him outside.

What surprised Watt was that she didn’t avoid him this time.

When she saw him, her expression was calm, without any surprise.

As if his arrival was within her expectations.

This side of her actually surprised Watt.

Watt stared at her for a while and was the first to break the silence, "Summer..."

"Come in!" Summer stepped aside to let him in, and closed the door behind him.

Her reaction was so calm from start to finish, so calm that it suddenly made Watt a bit uneasy.

This demeanor of hers seemed like she had already decided how to face him.

And the way she chose was probably not what Watt wanted.

After entering the room, Summer didn’t pay much attention to his presence and went back to the kitchen to continue preparing lunch.

She hadn’t eaten yet, and after drifting outside for so many days, it was the first time she was having a meal cooked in this home.

Lunch was prepared for two.

This side of her surprised Watt once again.

Given their current situation, he thought she would simply not let him in.

Summer’s reaction now didn’t make Watt feel delighted; instead, it deepened the unease in his heart.

Summer set the two portions of lunch on the dining table, sat down, and quietly started eating her own.

Though Watt also hadn’t had lunch yet, he had no appetite and just watched her eat.

Once she finished her portion, he explained his purpose for coming, "I’m here to take you back. I know you can’t accept what happened with Lorraine Hughes, but there are other ways to punish me; leaving doesn’t have to be one of them."

Summer was silent for a long time after his words.

After about ten full minutes of quiet, she slowly lifted her face.

Meeting his gaze, her tone was calm, "Adrian Walyon, what you’re saying isn’t right. This has nothing to do with punishment. Leaving is just about wanting a change of environment, so I don’t think of this matter every time I see you or Lorraine."

"I don’t harbor any resentment towards you because of this incident; I just can’t accept that such a thing happened in a marriage. During my time away from the country, I’ve had a good life. A new environment and a new beginning, I can also take good care of myself, so you don’t have to worry about me."

"Let’s just be like this for now, separated for a time, giving each other space to calm down. Maybe one day I will come around, but for now, I truly can’t accept it, nor do I know how to face you. If you still love me, respect me this once and give me this bit of freedom, okay?"

She said a lot in succession, and her eyes flickered slightly as she looked at him.

Watt quietly listened to her finish speaking, with his chest aching as if it were being pierced by needles.

Is this what she had prepared to say to him?

If he loves her, then let her go?

Ha, Watt suddenly found it a bit funny.

If from the very beginning, when he first met her, he hadn’t forcibly insisted on marrying her, would he and she have come this far?

If he let her go, would there still be a future for them?
