Chapter 1263: Chapter 1263: Standing Her Up
Summer Sutton now realized even more clearly that he was sticking to their promise by not wanting to see her.
She felt inexplicable emotions, thinking about leaving, right as Watt Bennet’s assistant came up to the floor.
They bumped into each other at the elevator entrance, and the assistant paused, surprised.
He knew Summer Sutton; the relationship between Watt Bennet and Summer Sutton had been in the news so many times. Among the people around Watt Bennet, few didn’t know Summer Sutton, even the new assistant.
"Miss Sutton, why are you still here at this hour?" The assistant looked at Summer Sutton, seeming quite puzzled.
Summer Sutton was suspicious, clueless about what he meant.
"Didn’t Mr. Bennet tell you? He received a call last-minute and had to fly to London. It seems that something happened with the company over there." The assistant clarified her confusion.
Summer Sutton was stunned.
Watt Bennet really hadn’t told her about this.
Her expression clearly showed she knew nothing about it.
Afraid she’d feel awkward, the assistant continued to explain for Watt Bennet, "It happened so suddenly, Mr. Bennet left in a hurry, didn’t have time to tell you."
After thinking, he added, "Or maybe Mr. Bennet didn’t expect you to come back to see him?"
Summer Sutton was stunned once more.
Summer actually understood the assistant was offering her a way out.
But the latter part of what he said might be the real truth of tonight.
Watt Bennet probably wouldn’t have imagined she’d come to see him because of work after she initiated their separation, right?
The address Summer Sutton received from Watt Bennet wasn’t given to her personally, but was provided to Summer Sutton’s company.
Maybe just as the assistant said, he hadn’t truly expected her to come?
Pushing aside the disappointment in her heart, Summer Sutton’s mood lightened quite a bit at this point.
"When will he be back?" She looked at the assistant and asked.
The assistant didn’t know the specifics either, so he could only say, "Not sure at the moment, but if Miss Sutton wants to see him, I can inform him in advance. Once we know the time, I’ll let you know separately?"
Summer Sutton had no other choice now, and could only temporarily agree.
"Thank you, I’ll head back first." Politely bidding farewell to the assistant, Summer Sutton left the hotel and took a car back to her apartment.
The assistant didn’t dare delay reporting Summer’s visit to Watt Bennet.
As soon as Summer Sutton stepped out of the hotel, the assistant immediately made a phone call to Watt Bennet.
...
This program was a task given to Summer Sutton by the company; without the interview with Watt Bennet, the show’s ratings wouldn’t be guaranteed.
Summer Sutton was the one who understood both the company and Watt Bennet; without her, there was genuinely no one else to replace her.
The assistant quickly answered Summer Sutton. After she returned to the apartment that evening, the assistant scheduled a new time for her to meet Watt Bennet.
They set it for eight days later at eight the next evening, with Watt Bennet flying back from London tomorrow evening, after which Summer Sutton would go to the hotel to interview him.
Having received a definite answer, Summer Sutton felt a bit more assured.
That night, she slept peacefully, and the next day she worked as usual. Around six-thirty in the evening, she set off for Watt Bennet’s hotel.
Thinking about yesterday’s events while on the way, Summer Sutton’s heart started to feel nervous again.
Would he stand her up again?
If he did, even if work required her to come, Summer Sutton felt she wouldn’t have the face to come a third time.
Arriving outside Watt Bennet’s room, she took several deep breaths and "knocked" on the door.
