Chapter 681: Chapter 682: My Trouble Is Your Trouble

Yunze Cave-Heaven.

Despite the name containing "cave-heaven," this residence was not built inside a cave.

It was nestled among towering mountains, flowing streams, and lush, branching trees.

Elegant courtyards seemed to grow naturally from the forest, with stone-paved paths connecting each courtyard together.

In the distance, a waterfall had been diverted, channeling a stream directly into the residence.

In the center, several spiritual fish splashed about in pools of spring water, with spiritual energy continuously bubbling up from the fish pond, nourishing what appeared to be carefree spiritual fish.

The architecture contained no luxurious or expensive materials—the basic building material was simply these great trees.

Yet each of these great trees emitted a faint sandalwood fragrance.

The scent was light and calm, barely perceptible.

A single word—elegance—ran through this entire grotto-heaven.

Yunze held fish food in its fingers, personally scattering it, its eyes calm as it watched the fish below compete for food, their bodies colliding and splashing water everywhere.

It scattered slowly, only a little at a time.

Only when the fish grew too exhausted from competing would it drop a little more, rekindling their energy.

These fish were fed personally by Yunze, never delegated to anyone else.

Yunze’s gaze was calm yet contemplative as it watched the fish resume their fighting.

"Master, Zheng Zhaoling requests an audience."

Beside it, a pitiful-looking little demon girl reported in a soft voice.

Yunze’s gaze solidified. It placed the fish food on a nearby table and chuckled self-deprecatingly:

"I can’t refuse to see her anyway. Drop the ’requests’ part next time."

"Yes."

The little demon acknowledged and turned to leave.

Only a moment later.

Zheng Zhaoling stepped in, walking directly toward Yunze.

Yunze’s face still wore that gentle expression, with subtle waves flowing between its brows and eyes. Its voice was soft:

"It’s been a while since we last met. Has everything been well?"

Zheng Zhaoling’s expression remained unchanged, her tone indifferent:

"If things were well, I wouldn’t be here to see you."

Hearing this, Yunze lowered its gaze slightly. Noticing the change in Zheng Zhaoling’s tone and manner of speaking, it spoke even more softly:

"Has something displeased you? Our humble household can’t compare to Yunmeng Pavilion’s generosity. If there’s anything unsatisfactory, just say it and we’ll change."

Zheng Zhaoling glanced at the fish pond beside her, her tone carrying a hint of displeasure:

"Change? Change you, or change me? Or change me back to Yunmeng Pavilion?"

Yunze looked up, understanding that Zheng Zhaoling was planning to make a big scene this time.

When a smart person decided to act, their way of speaking would change completely—everything was groundwork and preparation for their goal.

Whether it was caring words or angry accusations.

"Naturally, we will change." Yunze’s tone was no longer so soft. "But you at least have to tell me what the matter is."

Zheng Zhaoling looked at the competing spiritual fish and said:

"A lot of people who shouldn’t be here have come to Yunmeng Marsh lately. Do you know about it?"

"Which ones are you referring to?"

"Any cultivator not from Yunmeng Pavilion shouldn’t be here."

Yunze did not immediately respond. It gently adjusted its long white sleeves.

Yunze naturally understood who the outside cultivators referred to, but it also believed that Zheng Zhaoling understood what she should understand.

The elders of Yunmeng Marsh would certainly have relayed this information to Zheng Zhaoling as well.

By now, Zheng Zhaoling had been here for over two months. Why was she suddenly picking on this issue out of nowhere?

Yunze sighed lightly before slowly responding:

"Some matters, your sect’s elders in Yunmeng Marsh know in more detail. Besides, Yunmeng Marsh is so large, and our cultivation is so low—it’s naturally impossible to completely prevent cultivators from sneaking in."

"Making things difficult for me won’t help."

"If you don’t like it, you could request an order to set up a grand formation around Yunmeng Marsh. We can’t get out, and outsiders can’t get in—that would be fine."

"Anyway, the outside world is harsh, and Yunmeng Marsh is our only way to survive. Do as you please, just let us live. Even if we end up like the fish splashing in this pond, it would be fine."

Zheng Zhaoling did not respond. She looked at the fish pond before her and said:

"I hear the fish here are all fed by you personally?"

"Just a hobby."

"You’re not raising these fish very well. They’re thin, their scales are cracked, and they’re covered in scars." Zheng Zhaoling looked back at Yunze and said, "I know where the problem lies."

Yunze’s expression showed surprise as it quickly asked:

"Please enlighten me."

Zheng Zhaoling picked up the fish food bowl Yunze had set aside and dumped the entire bowl into the pond at once.

Instantly, the pond erupted with splashing water as the fish swam frantically.

"You feed them too little." Zheng Zhaoling smiled. "If you’re too busy to feed them, assign someone specifically to do it."

"If you don’t feed them and don’t let others feed them either, naturally you won’t figure it out."

The Yunze God’s originally gentle expression instantly froze, and it tried hard to suppress the surging emotions within, staring at Zheng Zhaoling with confused eyes.

Zheng Zhaoling slowly placed the bowl back in its original position:

"You always think I’m targeting you, but have you considered—I’ve never known you before. Why would I specifically come to Yunmeng Marsh to target you?"

"Some things, I don’t spell them out because I can’t spell them out—and also for your own good. But clearly, you don’t appreciate it."

"You always say Yunmeng Marsh has been this way for thousands of years, but some principles have been this way for thousands of years, even tens of thousands of years—and they’re far greater than your Yunmeng Marsh’s principles."

"Before I came to Yunmeng Marsh, you should have heard the news—Chu Xingchen personally invited me to the Tianyan Sect, nominally for a Prodigy Gathering."

"Then, I returned to my sect and immediately rushed to Yunmeng Marsh."

"Do you think these two events are connected?"

"Do you think Chu Xingchen really chatted with me about prodigies?"

"Some things—if I don’t spell them out, you won’t know, Yunmeng Marsh won’t know, and when something happens, there will be an explanation."

"Once I spell it out, are you expecting Yunmeng Pavilion to stand up to the only living True Immortal of the Tianyan Sect on your behalf?"

Yunze’s expression could not hide its shock. Its fingers lightly gripped its sleeve as suspicion and confusion flooded its heart.

Why would Chu Xingchen focus on a small corner of Northern Julu Continent?

As for demons, Yunmeng Marsh naturally wouldn’t dare to contact them—after all, Yunmeng Pavilion above wouldn’t tolerate such a glaring issue.

As for evil cultivators, Yunmeng Marsh had always been extremely restrained.

The world was vast, and there were plenty of places far more outrageous than Yunmeng Marsh.

By any logic, Chu Xingchen couldn’t possibly be coming after it.

Zheng Zhaoling watched Yunze’s expression and softened her tone as she continued:

"Looks like you still don’t understand. You think I’m here to make trouble for you, pushing against pressure from my own elders?"

"If I wanted to make trouble, wouldn’t it be more convenient to do it later?"

"If you really don’t understand anything, I could just tell you everything and make you understand properly."

Yunze quickly shook its head gently:

"What I shouldn’t know, naturally I cannot know."

Only then did Zheng Zhaoling nod in satisfaction:

"Don’t think I’m here to make trouble for you. I came to solve your trouble."

"For now, seal off Yunmeng Marsh. No one in or out."

Zheng Zhaoling emphasized:

"I won’t make things difficult for you. We won’t arrest people or demons, we won’t investigate people or demons—we’re just putting on a show."

"I don’t care about future matters, and I don’t like managing them. Your tacit rules have nothing to do with me."

"But right now, you need to understand one thing."

"My trouble is actually your trouble."

"Yunmeng Pavilion truly doesn’t want other forces intervening in Yunmeng Marsh."

"But that applies to everyone except Chu Xingchen and Bai Xuanling. That’s also true."

"Do you understand now?"

Yunze was silent for a moment before forcing two words from its throat:

"Understood..."

Only then did Zheng Zhaoling turn away in satisfaction, not lingering any longer.

What Cui Hao had said was indeed effective.

It was just that she would inevitably face questioning and punishment from her own master in the future.

But so be it. Doing something always required paying a price.
