Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 136: _Burning IceIn a rented out villa somewhere in downtown Aurelia—someone stood silently on the balcony. She held a cup of soothing jasmine tea in one hand, hugging herself with the other arm.
Her silky white night robe blew into the night wind, the silver moon accentuating her skin and lush black hair.
Han Ji-Hoon stared at the night sky, particularly at the waning moon. It was supposed to be a peaceful evening. She’d already been thinking about how she would crash into bed once the tea had soothed her nerves.
Alas—fate had other plans. That’s if she could pin this anomaly on the strands of fate.
"What’s... this?" She frowned, head tilting when a faint crimson thread suddenly glowed to life in front of her.
The thread whipped softly in the wind, connecting to the skies far north while simultaneously reaching to her. Her brows knitted as she carefully grabbed the thread.
"Oh." She froze. Before her eyes the thread began disappearing, first starting from the trail away from her.
Then—it was gone faster than it had appeared. Ji-Hoon’s fingers tightened around the handle of her teacup. That thread... belonged to Ambrose.
People’s fate threads don’t just vanish like that. Unless they died.
"Jae-won you idiot," she was tempted to smash the cup to the ground but instead pulled out her phone. "You’d better not have done anything to him."
As she strode into her bedroom, ready to question her brother on any new developments—little did she know that the Guide in question was far from dead.
Well... at least, not yet...

Ambrose skidded below an elevated branch, narrowly avoiding the claws of the beasts chasing him. He didn’t dare look back. Didn’t even dare stop, only occasionally flicking his wrist backwards in a desperate effort to hold them off with his frost and flames.
The beasts in question were tall bipedal creatures with rough, light brown skin and muscles larger than boulders. The skin from their head to their thick tails was covered in a tough, armadillo-like shell.
As Ambrose made a turn around a tree, he thought about his tactics so far. The creatures were higher B-Ranks but somehow managed to make him struggle.
Apart from their overwhelming numbers, it was also thanks to those stupid shells of theirs.
It kept them shielded from every normal attack he flung their way.
"I can’t continue like this." He stared anxiously at the system screen hovering in front of him.
The timer showed he had an hour and five minutes left. At this rate, he wouldn’t be able to clear even a damn city park of dungeon beasts.
He paused at a point, gaze landing on a branch hanging low enough for him to reach. He leapt, catching it with both hands.
He lifted his lower body, avoiding being struck by the charging beasts. As they rushed past him, however, it didn’t take long for them to realise what had happened.
They all paused like a unit, spinning their tank-like bodies to his direction. Ambrose squatted on the branch, a hand pressed against the bark. While another clutched one of his Dragon Fang blades tightly.
Stabbing the blade into the bark, Ambrose stretched out his palms. One ignited with blue fire while a foggy white frost surrounded the other.
He charged his aether into both elements, ready for one burst... when he noticed something.
"What the..."
The frost and fire didn’t appear to react negatively with each other. Frost didn’t snuff out his flames. And the flames didn’t melt the frost in turn.
His palms were inches apart too.
Mesmerised, he brought both hands together. The piercing frost and consuming flames licked over each other for a couple of seconds.
At this point, the beasts roared, crouching low. He was no expert but they looked like they were about to jump at him.
Gradually, the frost and flames merged into a concentrated whitish-blue beam. The beam pulsed between his palms, almost alive.
And hungry.
[ALERT: Abnormal convergence of elemental abilities detected.]
’Oh, I know.’ he smirked. His aether rushed through his cells like never before, spiking a high that made his mouth curve wider.
The moment one of the beasts made the first move to jump at him—he let go of the thermal blast.
BOOM!
The force from the blast was enough to fling him backwards from the tree. He quickly caught his blade before his descent, yanking it off the tree with everything in him.
He crashed into the forest below, earth and dust shooting out in an explosion of pure force. He rasped, gritting his teeth as he struggled to push himself off the ground.
Meanwhile, the elemental blast dealt actual damage to the beasts. They were locked within a blinding surge of pale blue light—frost blooming across their shells while flames seeped through the cracks like something alive.
For a split second... nothing happened.
Then—a sharp, unnatural crack rang out. Not from the outside.
From within.
The beasts froze mid-charge, their massive bodies trembling violently. Frost spread across their limbs in jagged patterns, encasing them in ice. Yet beneath that frozen layer, their bodies bulged and distorted.
Heat expanded, clashing against the sudden drop in temperature.
Another crack followed—louder this time—like stone fracturing under pressure.
Their armoured shells began to split open along glowing seams, thin lines of white-blue light leaking out. Steam hissed violently from their joints as the opposing elements tore through them from the inside out.
Ambrose’s eyes widened as one of them let out a guttural screech—cut short when its entire frame convulsed.
It collapsed, neither in flames nor ice.
But in pieces.
Chunks of hardened shell and scorched flesh broke apart, crumbling as if their structure had completely failed. The remaining beasts staggered, their movements crippled as the same internal destruction spread through them.
Frost locked their limbs. Fire consumed their core. And caught in between—they also shattered.
Silence stretched through the forest as Ambrose stared at the aftermath. His body shook with a mix of surprise and excitement as he lifted a palm to his face.
"... Burning ice." He muttered, conjuring a tongue of the thermal blast.
Before he could get carried away or get a moment to catch his breath, the air shifted. Chills ran down his spine as the system rang:
[WARNING: A-Rank entity incoming!]
