Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 173: _The World Is ChangingLater that evening, just when Aurelia city drew into its bustling nightlife—every news station got to talking about a major topic that’s been going increasingly viral worldwide.
And that was the Chicago Mass Erasure Event... a name coined mere hours after the disaster.
"As those who’ve been evacuated from the city of Chicago and beyond are accounted for," a male reporter spoke for the BBC, "new estimates on how many people lost their lives have been confirmed. The current number is three hundred and fifty-two thousand people. Gone in what many call the second-worst disaster in American history since the Emergence."
"No bodies. No injuries. No signs of their existence at all except for what we have in their records. And even till now half of the city is covered in nothingness, completely inaccessible."
"Yet despite the severity of this... the United States Federation appears to be quiet. Sure they’ve reassured citizens and the government that everything is ’under control’ as always..."
"... But if a Cataclysm Level entity can just break out of a Rift and eliminate tens of thousands in its wake—it begs the question on if the world’s strongest Hunters Federation are going soft."
"As the search for the Void Entity continues, our team here at the BBC are going to bring coverage live from the city darkness claimed. And we’ll also be speaking to our dungeon beasts and Rifts experts on what this means for America. And indeed... the world."
Out of the millions of people who watched this live from all around the world, Orion happened to be one of them. He sat with his legs pulled into a sofa, his eyes glued to the screen.
The living room was dark save for the light coming out of the TV.
"Orion?" Ambrose called out from his bedroom as he pulled the door open.
He was donned in a short-sleeved black shirt with a sharp collar—matched with form-fitting white trousers. On his wrist was a watch and a diamond band he hadn’t touched since transmigration.
His eyes darted to Orion who swung his head to him with a bright smile.
"You look so handsome, daddy."
The Guide smiled. "Thanks, little urchin." He walked to the little guy and gave him a gentle pat on his head. "I’ll be off now. Papa should be here with you any minute."
Then his eyes slid to the television. "Don’t you ever get tired of watching the news?"
"But I’ve told you... It’s fun!" Orion giggled. "They’re talking about the Void En... en..."
"Entity, buddy."
"Yeah! All the kids in my class were talking about it today. There were these two kids whose parents built underground houses for them to live in. Like in those apocalypse movies."
All Ambrose could offer as a response was an awkward smile.
Truth be told, he didn’t feel comfortable talking about this Void entity. He still got chills anytime he remembered it went straight for the city he lived in during his past life.
"You know," Orion continued, hugging one of the throw pillows to his chest, "some people on the news think the world is ending."
Ambrose snorted softly. "People also think the Earth is flat. Doesn’t mean you should listen to them."
That earned him another giggle from the little boy.
Still, as Ambrose looked back at the television screen—the endless footage of Chicago’s erased skyline and frightened civilians—his smile faded slightly.
The world really was changing.
Fast.
"Daddy?" Orion tilted his head. "Where are you going?"
Ambrose blinked, quickly dragging himself from his thoughts. "Hm?"
"You dressed all fancy." Orion narrowed his golden eyes suspiciously in the cutest way possible. "Are you going on a date?"
That nearly made Ambrose choke on air.
"What? No!" He rubbed the back of his neck with an awkward laugh. "I just... have somewhere important to be tonight."
The boy puffed his cheeks. "With papa?"
"No." A pause. "But I’ll be back later tonight, alright? So don’t worry too much."
Orion stared at him for a few seconds before eventually nodding.
"Okay..." he mumbled. "But if you don’t come back I’ll call Papa and tell him you’re missing."
Ambrose barked out a laugh. "Oh, so now you’re threatening me?"
"Mhm." Orion nodded proudly.
"You’re too smart for your own good." The Guide pinched his cheek gently before straightening up again. "Now go easy on the snacks. And don’t open the door for strangers."
"I knowwww."
Ambrose smiled faintly and turned toward the entrance.
Only for his steps to halt midway.
Devon had just walked into the living room.
The S-Rank adjusted his sleeves the moment he stepped in. His sharp eyes landed on Ambrose almost immediately—briefly taking in his appearance before flicking back to his face.
An awkward silence stretched between them.
Ambrose parted his lips slightly. Part of him almost wanted to explain where he was going. Hell—part of him wanted to bring up everything from earlier and somehow force them into talking things out properly.
But Devon beat him to speaking first.
"Good luck," he said simply.
Ambrose blinked. "... That’s it?"
A tired smile tugged at Devon’s lips. "You look like someone about to walk into trouble." He shrugged lightly. "So... good luck."
Something warm and painful twisted in Ambrose’s chest all at once. "Thanks."
Neither of them pushed further.
And maybe that somehow hurt more.
With one final glance at Devon and Orion, Ambrose stepped out of the suite.

Morozov Private Manor
The ride there alone was enough to make Ambrose feel like he was heading toward an execution ground.
The manor itself looked even more intimidating at night.
Tall gates. Endless white stone. Grand architecture glowing beneath soft golden lights.
Everything about it screamed old money.
The moment he stepped out of the Uber, several maids were already waiting near the entrance.
"This way, Mr Hale." One greeted politely.
Ambrose resisted the urge to flee.
Instead, he followed them through massive hallways decorated with expensive paintings and crystal ornaments until they arrived at an enormous dining hall.
And there she was.
Irina Morozov sat elegantly at the far end of the grand dining table, one leg crossed over the other as she sipped from a wine glass.
Her icy silver hair cascaded over her shoulders beautifully.
The moment she saw him, her lips curved into a graceful smile.
"Ambrose." She gestured toward the empty seat across from her. "You’re just in time for dinner."
His throat tightened slightly.
"Please," she added smoothly. "Join me."
Ambrose hesitated for only a second before pulling out the chair and sitting down carefully.
Almost instantly, maids moved to serve him.
The silence between him and Irina barely lasted five seconds before footsteps echoed from the entrance of the dining hall.
Ambrose turned instinctively. And froze.
Those footsteps belonged to none other than Viktor.
The Ice Prince looked freshly showered, his snowy white hair still slightly damp. But the moment his icy blue eyes landed on Ambrose, visible confusion spread across his face.
"Ambrose?" He frowned slowly. "What are you doing here?"
