Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 316: _Adults Failed HimHale-Ferguson Residence
Outside the gates, the number of zombies had begun to thin. Most got discouraged by Loki’s seemingly impenetrable illusory wall and simply dragged themselves to other houses.
The ones that remained could either only slam aimlessly against the invisible wall or walk around weakly.
Suddenly, the air shifted.
The crimson skies rumbled with a thunderstorm, lightning cracking through the clouds. A huge bolt of lightning landed on the ground some meters away from the zombies, two figures emerging from it a couple of seconds later.
"So we’re sure Loki is here?" Wukong grunted, swinging his staff onto his shoulder. "Hm. This house doesn’t look half bad."
The glow in Yemoja’s eyes dimmed as she scanned the area. "This place is heavily infected."
"Tell me about it," Wukong whistled. "That’s a lot of zombies for the suburbs."
"We need to check on Loki fast," Yemoja mumbled, about to begin moving.
That’s when the growls from the zombies became more violent.
Hungrier.
They all turned to the two SSS-Ranks, their grotesque features twisting with something predatory. One by one they began approaching, cutting off any space they could use in escaping.
"You all must have a double death wish." Wukong’s grip on his staff tightened, a grin curving his lips. "Never had the pleasure of battling undead humans before. Although it’s hardly going to be a battle—"
"Could you shut up and focus?" Crescent water blades began forming around Yemoja, that glow from earlier returning to her eyes. "They might seem weak, but their bite packs a punch. From reports we’ve seen, not even high-rank Hunters are safe from being turned."
Wukong scoffed. "Okay, Mom. But trust me, they won’t be able to turn me."
"I better hope not." She muttered, gathering more water from the air. "Before now all I’ve had to do was restrain zombies. But if it were a member of the Pantheon?"
She didn’t have to finish because even Wukong was aware of the implication.
When the first group of zombies charged, waves of water erupted around the SSS-Ranks while Wukong readied his stance.
The monkey king soon leapt past the waves, raising his staff in an overhead arc.
CRASH!
Rocks and dirt exploded outward when he crashed at the very middle of the horde, sending several zombies flying and others stumbling as the earth shattered.
Meanwhile, Loki watched this unfold from Orion’s windows. They shut the curtains, cursing under their breath.
"You guys," the lord of chaos hurried to the bed, connecting with the dreamscape and the consciousnesses of every last one of them, "if you’re hearing this... you’ve got to hurry."

Back in the Dreamscape
The world around them flickered, enough for the castles in the distance to blur before snapping back into focus.
Before anyone could begin questioning what the heck was going on, Loki’s voice crashed into every one of their minds.
’Guys! If you can hear me, we’ve got company!’
Gabriel stiffened while Viktor nearly jumped. Even Valentine looked up instinctively.
’Wukong and Yemoja just arrived. If they figure out what’s happening in this room and connect Orion to the plague—’
The connection crackled.
’You need to finish this NOW. I don’t know how much longer before they’re able to get in—’
The warning vanished. A deafening silence swallowed the dreamscape.
Ambrose’s pulse lurched.
His grip instinctively tightened around little Orion before his eyes found the older one again.
"What is it?" He asked quietly. "What are you trying to accomplish with all this?"
Older Orion let out a humourless laugh.
His golden eyes drifted toward the trembling sky. "It seems you all are running out of time." Then he looked back at them. "I don’t want anything, Dad."
Everyone frowned as his gaze settled on the child in Ambrose’s arms.
"I only want him safe. Emotionally, mentally. Physically—in every way the world failed him." His smile disappeared. "You all think I imprisoned him. But I didn’t. Far from it, actually. I am... protecting him. Protecting us."
His voice became quieter.
"I was born the day we stopped believing adults could give us that protection."
Ambrose froze as his mind swam to events from a month ago.
Dorothy. The Void Entity. The kidnapping and every other crazy shit that a six-year-old had no business being exposed to.
One horrific memory after another flashed through his mind until his stomach twisted.
"No." He whispered. "Orion, that—"
Older Orion nodded once. "That’s when I came into existence."
Nobody spoke. Not even Viktor, whose guilt was reaching a new peak.
Slowly... Ambrose lowered little Orion onto the grass.
The child instinctively caught his father’s hand. "D-Daddy?"
"It’s okay." Ambrose squeezed his tiny fingers reassuringly before walking forward alone.
Immediately, Older Orion’s expression hardened.
"Don’t." The warning echoed across the frozen kingdom. "Don’t try anything funny. It’s pointless."
Ambrose stopped a few steps away. "I’m not." He took a slow breath. "I... agree with you."
That caught everyone—including Older Orion—off guard.
"Adults failed Orion." His voice cracked with a bitter laugh. "I failed Orion. Again. And again and again."
Behind him, little Orion’s frightened voice trembled. "Daddy..."
Ambrose glanced back with a soft smile. "No, buddy." He gently shook his head. "I’m only telling the truth."
When he faced Older Orion again, there wasn’t a trace of defensiveness left.
"I understand why you were born."
For the first time, Older Orion’s confident expression faltered.
"But listen to me." Ambrose took one final step closer. "If you never let him wake up. If you never let him leave this place... He won’t ever get hurt again."
He paused.
"...But he won’t ever get to live either."
The words landed between them like stones.
"What you’re doing has stopped being protection for a while now." His eyes stung. "It’s become a prison."
For one endless moment, nobody moved.
Then—the entire dreamscape shuddered.
A deafening crack split the heavens as the floating castles lurched, dragons screamed overhead, and fractures of blinding white light tore across the sapphire sky like broken glass.
Aura glanced up with wide-blown eyes. "Dear gods, what now...?"
