Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 333: _Feelings That Were Already ThereThe Next Morning
[Rise and shine, honey buns.]
Ambrose’s eyelids the next morning were so slammed shut that it felt herculean trying to open them.
The first sensation that struck him as consciousness came back was... okay, who’s he kidding?
There was barely any sensation other than the pure desire to fall back asleep. The pillow under his cheek felt extra fluffy this morning.
[I won’t sleep in if I were you. You failed to check in on your stats and mission rewards from last night.]
"Ugh," Ambrose turned to his right—only to quickly realise that there was an arm wrapped around his shoulders from that angle.
His eyes opened wider to take in the person.
Gabriel.
The SS-Rank appeared to have been awake for a while, scrolling through his phone with his other free hand. He was shirtless, but had faint water droplets on his chest and hair and smelt of lavender.
His iridescent orbs moved to Ambrose the second he moved, lips curling. "Good morning, handsome." He leaned forward, pressing a kiss on his forehead. "How’re you feeling?"
Heat instantly rushed through Ambrose’s cheeks.
Images of last night ran through his mind, each one more embarrassing and mind-boggling than the last.
For fuck’s sake, were they all drugged?
"I feel like hidden cameras are documenting the spontaneous craziness that is my life." Ambrose groaned, pushing himself off with his elbows until he was sitting with his back against the headboard. "Gabriel... about last night—"
The bathroom door flew open just then.
Steam rushed out as a figure walked out casually, a towel barely draped around their waist.
Loki.
The lord of chaos had another towel wrapped around their head and hair, a smirk curving their lips when they spotted Ambrose.
"The man of the hour himself." They whistled, waltzing gracefully. "You two were talking about last night?"
"Yes." Ambrose’s brows furrowed. "Let’s be real. Five men don’t just... come together to do what you all did last night." A pause. "I keep forgetting, is it cool if I call you a man or—"
"Gender fluid for a reason, babe." Loki chuckled, a hand on their waist as they got in front of a full-body mirror. "It’s completely okay."
Ambrose nodded. "Right. Well, my point is that last night felt unrealistic. Like a freaky wet dream—but I know damn well it wasn’t a dream. So what exactly was it? Were you guys high? Was I high too? Or—"
"That would be playing on consent." Loki calmly took off the tower on their head, revealing lustrous brown hair. "No, we weren’t high."
The pause like there was more they weren’t telling made Ambrose squint. He swerved to Gabriel, noticing the way the space god brought his attention back to his phone way too awkwardly.
Yeah... every last one of them was definitely in the loop on what happened last night.
"What happened," Loki’s playful tone drifted through the room again, "was that I pulled out the hidden, most ’sinful’ desires of the guys last night. It was Valentine’s idea to ’loosen the mood’ from the bar. And I did."
"You... you manipulated—"
"I merely dug out feelings that were already there." Loki spread out both arms in a shrug. "And no—I didn’t have to touch your desires." The towel around their waist dropped as they walked to the bed. "One thing I’ve found fascinating about you is how open you are about what you want. Even when you try hiding it."
Ambrose’s cheeks reddened. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Before Loki could answer, a quick knock sounded at the bedroom door. Then it burst wide open a couple of seconds later, barely giving the lord of desires enough time to pull the towel back to their waist.
"Daddy, papa said I should check if you’re..." Orion peeked his head into the bedroom, not even giving Loki a second glance. "... Awake. Oh, wow, you are! Can I come in, daddy?"
Ambrose clutched the bed sheets like his damn life depended on it. "No, Orion, you may not come in!" He blinked with disbelief. "Young man, what have I told you about walking into a room without knocking?"
"But daddy, I did knock."
"Did you wait for us to say ’come in’?"
"... I thought I heard you say something."
Gabriel couldn’t stop himself from giggling while Ambrose sank back into his pillows with a sigh.
Meanwhile, Loki, who’d finally knotted the towel properly, made their way to Ambrose’s wardrobe, ignoring the quiet glare pinned on their back.
"Buddy," Ambrose finally muttered, fingers rubbing his forehead. "I’ll be down in a bit, okay?"
"Yay!" Orion clapped behind the door, pulling back his head. "Don’t forget to wear something cool for the Parents-Teachers meeting today."
"Wait, what? That was to—I mean." Ambrose shut his mouth right on time. "Of course, little urchin. I’ll have all of them talking for days, don’t worry."
The second the door slammed shut, Ambrose’s head spun.
A PTA meeting?!
"Who the fuck throws a PTA meeting during summer?" Loki mumbled.
"I’m here asking myself the same thing," Ambrose rolled his shoulders. "I’m just remembering. Blue Diamond wants to discuss safety, especially for parents with kids who are Espers or Guides."
The next movement alone made him wince.
"Oh... gods."
He carefully swung his legs over the edge of the bed, every sore muscle loudly reminding him of exactly how "eventful" the previous night had been.
A dry laugh escaped him despite himself.
’Well,’ he thought, slowly standing upright. ’Good thing I cleaned up before we left for the parade.’
That decision had been made on pure instinct.
At the time he’d only wanted the peace of mind of being prepared—just in case. Looking back now, considering how wildly the night had spiralled, he silently thanked every god willing to listen for that tiny burst of foresight.
After grabbing a towel, Ambrose shuffled toward the bathroom, already looking forward to hot water easing the ache in his back.
His thoughts, however, refused to stay there.
The PTA meeting.
Blue Diamond hadn’t organised it without reason.
He already knew what everyone would be talking about.
Dorothy.
The Void Entity sending her into the school to abduct Orion. The teachers who never made it home. The children whose parents would forever associate that building with grief.
Ambrose’s chest tightened.
He wasn’t sure whether he was more afraid of the meeting or the looks the other parents might give Orion.
Aura let out an exaggerated sigh.
[Hey, can you quit being pessimistic? It’s probably not that...]
