Hearing Ji Yan’s words, the anger Yu Huannian had just suppressed flared up again.
Yu Hongqian stepped forward to break up the fight, but a second later, he took a punch to the face.
"It’s no use even if you beat me to death," Ji Yan said, looking happily at Yu Huannian.
’This is great. Absolutely fantastic!’
All those twenty-odd years of pent-up frustration were completely released in that one moment.
"Haha, hahaha, COUGH, COUGH!"
The more happily Ji Yan laughed, the harder Yu Huannian hit him.
Seeing Yu Huannian’s ferocity, Yu Hongqian was genuinely afraid he would kill the man. They could turn a blind eye to him venting his anger.
But if he actually killed him, that would change everything.
Yu Hongqian and his men restrained Yu Huannian.
"Calm down!"
"How can I calm down? That’s my sister!" Yu Huannian fought back like a stubborn bull.
"COUGH, COUGH. Xiao Nian, I’m okay," Jiang Li said, running over with a face covered in soot.
Yu Huannian stared at her, stunned. He shook off the men holding him and walked toward her. "Sis, are you really okay?"
Jiang Li shook her head. "It’s all thanks to Commander Yu and his men."
Only then did they notice a group of people following behind Jiang Li.
Yu Zhen Guo had arrived in a great hurry with his men, flanked by two bomb disposal experts.
When Jiang Li had run out just moments before, she had run right into Yu Zhen Guo and his approaching team, which had saved her life.
The more Yu Zhen Guo looked at Jiang Li, the more he liked what he saw. This girl was brave and tough—just the kind of person his Yu Family appreciated.
Seeing that Jiang Li was safe, Lu Xingye’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground.
"SOB, SOB, SOB... Jiang Li, you scared me to death! Please don’t go running off like that again, okay?"
"It’s okay, it’s okay. See? I’m fine."
Jiang Li pulled Lu Xingye into her arms to comfort him, her gaze shifting to Ji Yan, who was on the ground a short distance away.
’In the end, I still won.’
Seeing Jiang Li appear again, Ji Yan was half-dead with rage.
"This is Hua Country airspace. Leave immediately, or we will take compulsory measures!"
A voice boomed from overhead. The group looked up to see several unidentified aircraft in the sky.
Ji Yan saw the planes arrive and a smile touched his lips. He rolled over and lay flat on his back.
"They must be here to rescue Ji Yan," Jiang Li murmured. ’Are we really going to let him get away just like that?’
’All those lives he took...’
"Don’t worry. This isn’t a place you can just waltz in and out of," Yu Zhen Guo said, patting Jiang Li’s shoulder.
Jiang Li looked at Yu Zhen Guo and nodded. "Okay."
"Leave the rest to us. We will make sure you heroes get a satisfactory resolution."
Yu Zhen Guo looked at Yu Hongqian. "Hong Qian, take Miss Jiang and the others to get some proper rest."
The area was completely cordoned off. Residents of the villa complex were evacuated, and for safety, they decided to sweep for explosives.
"I want to see Ji Yan’s base," Jiang Li said, turning back to ask Yu Zhen Guo.
’I could never find it.’
"Ji Yan’s base is well hidden. We’ll notify you the moment we find it," Yu Zhen Guo said, looking at Jiang Li with approval.
Only then did Jiang Li nod and get into the car.
Yu Hongqian took them straight to the Yu Family estate.
"Mrs. Chen, please help arrange some rooms and have someone make some food. Quickly."
After speaking, Yu Hongqian turned to look at the six of them, his gaze finally resting on Jiang Li.
’She really is surprising.’
Jiang Li met his gaze. "Mr. Yu, is there something else?"
"No, nothing. Please, sit and rest for a while."
Yu Hongqian smiled, then turned to arrange for someone to take care of them before hurrying out to help again.
As Jiang Li sat in the Yu home, she idly felt her pockets and realized her phone was gone.
"Hello, would you like me to turn on the television for you?" Mrs. Chen asked politely, approaching with a smile.
"Yes, please. Thank you," Jiang Li nodded. She wanted to know what was happening outside.
The moment the TV was on, a news report appeared. It was about today’s incident.
To her surprise, though, many of the details from the previous night had been suppressed, and their faces were pixelated.
Jiang Li watched as experts swarmed the scene and began their search.
"Ji Yan’s father is an Earl in Russia. The two planes intercepted today were sent by him.
Ji Yan is his only son, and the Earl has cancer, so he wants to bring him home."
Lu Xingye said, looking at the latest news on his phone.
Jiang Li looked up at him. "You mean he might get away?"
Lu Xingye opened his mouth but didn’t know how to answer. He didn’t know either.
Seeing Lu Xingye’s reaction, Jiang Li understood. Ji Yan might actually be taken away.
"I should’ve just beaten that bastard to death!" Yu Huannian muttered, grinding his teeth.
"Miss Jiang, the bath has been drawn. Please, everyone, return to your rooms to wash up. I’ll have the family doctor come by to check on you shortly."
Jiang Li nodded, stood up, and went upstairs.
After they had all washed up, the family doctor, who was already waiting, cleaned their wounds. Once they had eaten, they each went to their rooms to rest.
Lying in bed, Jiang Li thought about the past few days. ’Money really can buy you anything.’
She sighed, rolled over, and went to sleep.
"Can’t get out? Useless trash!"
Jiang Li opened her eyes. She was choking a police officer, her hands in cuffs.
The moment she understood her situation, she violently tightened the handcuffs around the officer’s neck.
She dragged him for a long distance until the man in her grasp stopped struggling.
Jiang Li was filled with a towering rage. ’Human life is worthless to him.’
Jiang Li’s rage erupted again, and she began to slam her head against the wall frantically.
Ji Yan’s pupils trembled. His eyes bloodshot, he spat out two words through gritted teeth, "Jiang Li!"
At that moment, Jiang Li had lost all reason. She only wanted Ji Yan, this murderous monster, to die!
"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
The sound of the impacts echoed through the cell as a long streak of blood ran down the wall.
"Captain Zheng, it’s bad!"
Zheng Qichuan and his team were in the middle of a heated argument when a colleague brought over the surveillance footage.
In the video, Ji Yan was slamming his head against the wall like a madman. Zheng Qichuan looked up at his colleagues, who stared back at him in utter confusion.
"Captain Zheng, does Ji Yan have a history of mental illness?"
Zheng Qichuan, dumbfounded, shook his head. The files they had on Ji Yan showed no history of mental illness.
"So... should we stop him?" one of them asked cautiously.
Zheng Qichuan’s eyes returned to the monitor. Ji Yan was now lying in a pool of his own blood.
Zheng Qichuan cleared his throat. "COUGH, COUGH. You, go inform Commander Yu and the others. You, call for an ambulance. I’ll go check on him."
Zheng Qichuan gave his men a subtle look, then walked toward the cell. ’He’d better have bashed his brains out!’ he prayed inwardly.
Hearing the news, Yu Zhen Guo shot to his feet and looked across at Ji Yan’s father, Ivan.
A bad feeling instantly gripped Ivan. He spoke in heavily accented Mandarin.
"What’s going on? I’m telling you, if anything happens to my son, you’ll all regret it!"
Yu Zhen Guo silently rolled his eyes but forced a smile. "Duke Ivan, please remain calm. We’ve just received word from our people... your son may have attempted suicide."
"Impossible! My son would never commit suicide!" Ivan roared, pointing an accusatory finger at them.
"It was you! This must be your doing! Since you have no regard for the relationship between our two countries, then don’t blame me for being merciless!"
Yu Zhen Guo scoffed. "This is Hua Country’s sovereign territory. Your son harmed countless innocent people. He should, by all rights, be held legally responsible.
Besides, your son tried to kill himself!"
"And what evidence do you have that my son tried to commit suicide?!"
