Seeing Crime Scenes in My Sleep

Chapter 191 - 187: One Dream, Three Cases

"Ah, no, not at all." Cheng Xiangyu laughed awkwardly and lowered his head to continue eating.

Jiang Li didn’t press the issue. After she and Wu Ming had eaten their fill, they returned to their room and immediately fell asleep.

"You damn bitch, how dare you criticize me! I’ll beat you to death!"

Reeking of alcohol, she raised her fist and brought it down on the silent woman beneath her.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The scene suddenly shifted. The familiar sound of chopping bones rang out. "Hmph, that’ll teach your whole family for looking down on me!"

Before Jiang Li could get a clear look, the scene changed again. Several children were locked in a pitch-black room.

All at once, several scenes flooded her mind: domestic violence, murder, human trafficking...

Jiang Li’s brow furrowed in pain. She screamed internally, ’Stop, stop, stop! Can’t you just come one at a time?’

’This is too much!’

In the end, Jiang Li woke up because the headache became unbearable.

"What’s wrong? What’s wrong? Demons and ghosts, go away! Demons and ghosts, go away..."

Startled, Wu Ming sat up drowsily, her hands forming a sign as her eyes fluttered open in a daze.

"What is it, Jiang Li?"

"Cough, cough, it’s nothing, it’s nothing." Jiang Li put an arm around her and patted her on the back.

Hearing that everything was fine, Wu Ming flopped back down and went back to sleep.

Jiang Li picked up her phone and glanced at the time: 6:00 PM.

She glanced at Wu Ming, then got out of bed and went next door to knock on Cheng Xiangyu’s room.

KNOCK... KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK... KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...

Feng Dong tremblingly pulled the door open. When he saw Jiang Li standing expressionlessly outside, he nearly gasped for breath.

"Um, Miss Jiang, next time... could you not knock like that? And maybe say something instead of just knocking?" ’That was terrifying,’ he thought.

Because of what Cheng Xiangyu had said, he’d even had a nightmare. Waking up to such a rhythmic knocking had scared him into a cold sweat.

"Sorry. I’m here because I need to talk to you about something."

"Come on in." Feng Dong casually pulled the door wide open. After all, they were traveling, so they just slept in their clothes.

"Captain Cheng, Captain Cheng, Miss Jiang is here for you. Wake up."

Feng Dong walked to the bed and patted Cheng Xiangyu.

Cheng Xiangyu rebooted instantly, his eyes opening in a daze. "What?"

"Miss Jiang is here. She said it’s important."

Cheng Xiangyu’s eyes flew open. He instinctively looked down, then remembered he wasn’t at home and breathed a sigh of relief.

He turned to look at Jiang Li, who was sitting nearby. His throat was uncomfortably dry. "Cough, cough, just a moment."

Cheng Xiangyu went into the bathroom, quickly washed up, and came out after hastily wiping his face.

"Miss Jiang, go ahead."

Jiang Li looked at them. "Do you have a notebook? I don’t think I can explain this clearly in just a few words."

Writing it down would help her organize her thoughts.

"We do, we do." Feng Dong went to his bag, took out a notebook and pen, and handed them to her.

Jiang Li drew three lines and wrote something next to each one. Only after she finished did she look up at the two men.

"I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but I have to say it. I dreamed about domestic violence, a murder, and a kidnapping."

Jiang Li circled a few key points. "These are some of the clues I saw."

Then, Jiang Li flipped to a new page and began to draw, giving them time to process everything.

Feng Dong excitedly tugged on Cheng Xiangyu’s shirt. ’This is great, this is great! A heaven-sent achievement has finally landed in our laps!’

RIIIIP!

The shirt Cheng Xiangyu was wearing was torn open.

The two men froze. A vein bulged on Cheng Xiangyu’s forehead in anger. Glancing at the focused Jiang Li, he grabbed Feng Dong by the collar and started dragging him outside.

"Hey, Mmph! Mmph!" Before Feng Dong could beg for mercy, Cheng Xiangyu clamped a hand over his mouth and dragged him out.

When the two returned, they brought some food with them. By then, Jiang Li had already finished drawing.

"These are the children I saw. They should still be in this location." Jiang Li handed the notebook to them.

Feng Dong quickly took it. "Okay, thank you, Miss Jiang. We bought some food, you should eat something. Captain Cheng and I will go contact the local police station to get more information."

Jiang Li nodded, took some of the food, and went back to her room to find Wu Ming.

After sitting down, she felt as if her bones had turned to jelly. This was the first time she had dreamed of so many cases at once.

Wu Ming smelled the food and sat up in bed.

"You’re awake. Go wash up and eat."

Wu Ming nodded, got up to wash her face, then sat down at the table and began to eat.

"Wu Ming, we might have to stay a couple more days before we go back." Jiang Li looked at Wu Ming. If nothing had happened, they would have left, but since she’d encountered this, she had to see it through.

"Okay, I’ll listen to you. I’m fine with it." Wu Ming chuckled. ’Though, the two back home are probably going to raise a fuss.’

Jiang Li was a bit baffled by how happy she looked.

「Three hours later, there was a knock on the door.」

Jiang Li went to open the door. Feng Dong was standing outside. "Miss Jiang, based on your clues, we’ve found the kidnapped children. They’ve all been sent home.

"As for the domestic violence case, the wife is determined to get a divorce. The man was detained for a disciplinary hearing, and the wife is now suing him with a lawyer.

"Regarding the murder you mentioned, we were a bit too late. All that’s left is a crime scene, and we haven’t found the killer yet."

Feng Dong said all this in one breath before looking at her. "Miss Jiang, would you like to come back to the station with us?"

Feng Dong had looked into it. In the past, Jiang Li had spent most of her time at police stations. It made sense; the station was safe.

"How long does it take to get back from here?"

"Not far, just three or four hours."

"Uh, let’s see." ’If nothing else happens in my dreams, I’ll just go back,’ she thought.

"Okay." Feng Dong felt a pang of regret. ’I really wish I could convince her to stay at the station a while longer.’

Cheng Xiangyu was swamped. In all his years on the force, he’d never been this busy. His ears were sore from taking so many calls.

Feng Dong dejectedly returned.

After seeing Feng Dong off, Jiang Li updated Yu Huannian and the others on the situation here.

"Sister, I’m coming to find you," Miao Anji said, anxious to go look for Jiang Li after hearing she wasn’t coming back yet.

"It’s fine, it’s fine. A few days won’t make a difference. You guys just stay put at home. If you get restless, go help out at the police station."

Jiang Li looked at the two people on the screen and tried to soothe them.

"Jiang Li, since we’re just sitting around, let’s play a game."

Wu Ming pulled Jiang Li into a premade match. Wu Ming played jungler, and Jiang Li was support.

Following the marksman for less than a minute, she was cursed out three times. He yelled if she moved, and he yelled if she didn’t.

Annoyed, Jiang Li went to support the mid-lane mage instead. She used her ultimate to buff the mage, and in no time, the two of them had scored several kills.

That was when the marksman got pissed and turned on his mic to rage.

"Support, do you even fucking know how to play? Goddammit! What’s the fucking point of a support following the mage instead of the marksman?"

Jiang Li had just turned on her microphone when Wu Ming beside her had already started yelling back.

"You have the nerve to blame someone else? With how much you’re feeding, you should be a delivery driver!"

The two sides cursed at each other nonstop as they played. Meanwhile, Jiang Li and the mage had already pushed to the enemy’s high ground.

"We actually won? I wasn’t done cussing him out."

Just after she said that, Wu Ming gasped. "This guy has no shame. He actually dared to send me an invite."

"You bitch, give me your address. I’ll fucking come over there and deal with you for real."

"Fu La Hotel! Come on, you think I’m scared of you?!"
