Seeing Crime Scenes in My Sleep

"My daughter’s name is Shi Anno. She’s twelve years old and in the ninth grade.

The day before yesterday, she told me she was going to a classmate’s house, but she still hasn’t come back.

I called her classmate and found out she never even went there. I’m afraid something’s happened to her.

As Shi Xingchao spoke, his eyes reddened. He pulled up a photo of Shi Anno on his phone.

"Mr. Shi, do you remember what clothes, shoes, or backpack your daughter had on before she left?"

"Yes. My daughter loves pink. Her backpack is pink. The day she left, she was wearing a white top, a pink houndstooth jacket, black pants, and leather shoes."

As he spoke, Shi Xingchao took out his phone, his fingers trembling as he looked for photos.

"This is the backpack, and these are the clothes and pants."

Looking at the photos he’d found, Tang Wen quickly asked him to send them over.

Tang Wen couldn’t help but think, ’He’s a good father to remember everything so clearly.’

Lu Xingye sat to the side, looking at the photos as they were transferred to the computer.

Tang Wen nodded. "Alright, Mr. Shi. We’ll contact you as soon as we have any news."

Shi Xingchao looked at her. "Okay. Thank you, Officer."

Shi Xingchao stood up and turned to leave with his men.

As he passed Jiang Li and Miao Anji, he noticed them staring at him and paused.

"Is something the matter, you two?"

"It’s nothing. You just look a bit familiar," Jiang Li said with a smile.

Shi Xingchao gave Jiang Li a puzzled look, then realization dawned after a few seconds. "Oh, I remember now. I think I saw you in passing last time I was discussing a partnership with the Jiang Family."

Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. Now, they found Shi Xingchao more suspicious than ever.

"Hahaha, don’t get the wrong idea. Things escalated so suddenly back then that it wasn’t convenient for me to leave, so I just stuck around to watch the drama unfold."

Shi Xingchao forced a smile, but it quickly faded, and the corners of his mouth drooped in exhaustion.

"Ah, I see. I think I vaguely remember that."

"I still need to ask around for news about my daughter, so I won’t keep you," Shi Xingchao said, heading for the exit.

Jiang Li watched Shi Xingchao’s back as he left.

After getting into his car, Shi Xingchao immediately shot a look at the man beside him.

The man immediately checked him over and, just as suspected, found a Gu Worm on his body.

"Boss Shi, it’s a tracking Gu."

The man glanced back toward the police station, then took out a small jar and placed the worm inside.

"The Gu Worm is connected to its master. If we kill it, they’ll know we’ve found it."

Shi Xingchao nodded, annoyed. ’That kid from Miaojiang really knows how to use Gu.’

"Lure them over there. We’ll wipe them out in one go."

The car started. Shi Xingchao glanced outside. He was using his daughter as bait. ’The results,’ he thought, ’had better not disappoint me.’
