The group acted in perfect concert. Qi Hongxuan confronted the Neon Warrior cloaked in flames, while Huo Ming chose the other, who was clad entirely in black. The last of them, Ghost Spirit Sword Ning Yuanchen, was left for Hong Luan and the other experts to tie down.
Divine Transformation Warriors possessed strange and unpredictable abilities. Anyone who didn’t understand their opponent’s powers, even if only slightly weaker, risked being killed in an instant. Conversely, while the renowned Ghost Spirit Sword Ning Yuanchen was fearsome, his abilities had at least been well-documented over the years. Leaving him to Hong Luan gave them a chance to at least hold him off.
SWOOSH!!
Of the three, Qi Hongxuan was still the fastest despite his injuries. In an instant, he was before the flame-wreathed Warrior. A red glow burst from his body as his magnetic field flared to life, causing the temperature to rise rapidly.
He swung his arms in a continuous flurry and, as he unleashed his Force Release, used a Secret Technique to stimulate his brain, pushing his Spirit to its absolute limit.
PFFT!!
Blood trickled from his nose and mouth as an invisible spiritual influence spread out. His figure blurred as his slashes split apart, transforming into a sky full of descending red feathers. Time itself seemed to warp; the feathers would speed up and slow down unpredictably, making it impossible to judge their trajectory. Combined with the terrifying killing power of the Vermilion Bird Sect’s Secret Transmission, a single hit meant severe injury or even death.
This was Feathered Spirit. Its power lay in its Spiritual Power, which distorted an opponent’s sense of space and time.
This was the strongest technique Qi Hongxuan could currently muster.
It was called Sparrow’s Cry Universe.
But the Neon Martial Artist showed no fear in the face of Qi Hongxuan’s technique, the corner of his mouth twisting into a cold sneer.
A red light flared in his eyes. With a surge of Intent, he instantly shattered the illusion warping his perception of time and space.
He then thrust out a palm. The pores on his hand opened, expelling a large volume of gas, which was then controlled and compressed by the incredibly skilled muscles in his palm. As he pushed forward with his Palm Technique, the gas was suddenly ignited by the flames engulfing his body.
The combination of Palm Force, Gang Qi, and the explosive power of the ignited gas sent the terrifying might of this palm strike soaring.
Secret Technique—Flame Break!
BOOM!!
A terrifying inferno instantly engulfed a huge area, the deafening explosion leaving everyone dizzy and their ears ringing.
In an instant, Qi Hongxuan’s attack was utterly dispersed by the fiery Force, and the terrifying blast sent him flying backward.
As one of the Sixteen Generals, Qi Hongxuan’s greatest strength was his Spiritual Power—the ability to manipulate the perception of time and space. However, he had recently been injured by one of Li Ping’s Secret Techniques, leaving his thoughts muddled. He was a tiger without its claws and fangs, unable to fend off a true master.
Meanwhile, Huo Ming faced off against the Neon man clad entirely in black.
A red light shot from his eyes. Instead of expanding, his blazing magnetic field compressed rapidly, concentrating entirely within his palms.
For a moment, his palms seemed to merge completely with the red magnetic field, turning a ghastly shade of crimson. In the red glow, his skin and muscles became so translucent that one could even see the shapes of his blood vessels and bones.
At the same time, the violent convergence of the magnetic field brought the temperature of his palms and the roiling of his Qi and Blood to their absolute peak. Wherever his hands passed, the heat was intense enough to blast the air apart, vaporize moisture, and even distort space.
Huo Ming was known as the "Blood Jade Hand," and his greatest strength lay in the terrifying power of those hands.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
He slashed at the Neon man again and again, unleashing attacks so terrifying they could shear through special-grade steel.
Yet, the Neon man made no move to dodge or block Huo Ming’s attacks, simply continuing his reckless charge.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Huo Ming’s attacks struck the man, producing the sound of metal on metal. The terrifying slashes that could cut through special-grade steel left only a few scratches, none deeper than half an inch. They couldn’t inflict any real damage.
’What kind of defense is this?!’
Huo Ming’s pupils shrank. But he had no time to think. The man had already broken through his flurry of slashes and was right in front of him. With an arch, a press, and a ram, an unimaginable force exploded forth. The man’s Gang Qi practically solidified, binding Huo Ming in place and leaving him with no way to dodge.
BAM!!
With a tremendous bang, Huo Ming was also sent flying, his internal organs instantly displaced as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
CLATTER!!
Finally, a series of screams rang out as figures were sent flying, one after another, before crashing violently to the ground. It was Hong Luan and the other masters of the Phoenix Army, all defeated by Ning Yuanchen’s phantom-like Swordsmanship.
Hong Luan, their leader, was covered in bloody wounds. Fresh blood dripped from her body, soaking her white robes and leaving her face deathly pale.
A Half-Step Harmony expert was said to be able to contend with a master of the Harmony Realm, but that only applied to ordinary ones. The likes of the Sixteen Generals had already surpassed that level and reached another plane entirely. How could a mere Half-Step Harmony expert possibly block an all-out, unrestrained attack from such a being?
’They’re just too strong.’
Hong Luan scanned her surroundings. When she saw that Qi Hongxuan and Huo Ming had also been defeated, her face grew a shade paler.
"I’ll give you one last chance. It’s not too late to change your minds."
Ning Yuanchen’s expression was cold as he spoke in a flat voice.
TAP... TAP... TAP...
The sound of their footsteps echoed slowly as the three figures drew closer. Under the moonlight, their shadows merged into one, blanketing the members of the Phoenix Army.
Under the terrifying, oppressive aura, a flash of despair crossed Hong Luan’s eyes.
’Surrender? Pledge my life to the Neon People?’
Her pride as a Martial Artist would never allow her to do such a thing.
For a Martial Artist of the Divine Land, it was the ultimate disgrace.
"Ning Yuanchen, even if I fall here today, the Military Commander will avenge me!!"
Qi Hongxuan’s expression was grim. He was preparing to make a final stand.
Martial Artists, especially those who had reached the Harmony Realm, were not without backbone.
Within the Divine Land, they schemed and fought amongst themselves, vying for power. But that was a struggle between their own people, who were connected by blood.
But some lines could not be crossed.
To hand over the Divine Land and serve an Alien Race like a dog—he, Qi Hongxuan, could not do it!
"So, the people of the Phoenix Army do have some backbone. I underestimated you. This trip wasn’t a complete waste, then."
But just then, a calm voice suddenly rang out, rolling like muffled thunder high in the sky.
