On the surface, Qi Hongxuan and his men didn’t have any severe injuries and should have retained most of their strength. Yet, they were surprisingly submissive toward Zhao Xuanqi, leaving everyone to wonder just what had happened.

"Li Ping and Yang Xun still haven’t returned?"

Zhao Xuanqi’s gaze swept over the crowd, his brows furrowing slightly.

The others then began to ask him what had happened and about the strength of the Neon Martial Artists. He proceeded to give them a brief account.

The more they listened, the more astonished they became.

They were astonished by the strange and powerful abilities of the Neon Martial Artists, and stunned that Zhao Xuanqi had managed to safely drive back three such masters. At the same time, they finally understood why Qi Hongxuan and the others were behaving as they were.

It turned out that the strength Zhao Xuanqi had displayed had completely extinguished their will to oppose him.

SWOOSH!

As they were talking, two more figures leaped into the courtyard from outside. It was Yang Xun and the Beidou Army’s Harmony master, Cao Ying.

However, the two of them were in far worse condition than Zhao Xuanqi and his group had been.

Yang Xun’s clothes were in tatters, his body covered in wounds of all sizes. In some places, chunks of flesh had even been gouged out, making for a gruesome sight.

Cao Ying was in even worse shape. Caked in blood and filth, he bore even more injuries than Yang Xun. Most critically, his entire right arm was gone, severed at the shoulder. The incision was incredibly clean, revealing pulsing flesh and stark white bone.

"What happened?"

Zhao Xuanqi asked, frowning at Yang Xun.

"We ran into two Harmony masters. One was a Neon Divine Transformation Warrior—his palms seem to possess some strange power, and the Gang Qi he projected from them was unbelievably potent. The other was one of the Chengtian Army’s Sixteen Generals, Douluo Hand Ji Zeyuan. It cost me a great deal to get him out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t save the others from the Beidou Army. They’ve all fallen into enemy hands, and I fear their chances are slim."

Yang Xun said, taking a deep breath. His tone was incredibly grave.

The Beidou Army contingent only had one Harmony master, Cao Ying, so they were relatively weak to begin with. It was completely unexpected that the enemy would deploy two masters of the Sixteen Generals’ caliber against them. To make matters worse, Yang Xun hadn’t fully recovered from his previous battle, making the confrontation extremely perilous.

The color drained from everyone’s faces as they saw the pair’s condition and heard Yang Xun’s words. Qi Hongxuan and his men, in particular, felt a surge of relief. ’If Zhao Xuanqi had been any weaker and unable to defeat those three experts, our fate would have been even more tragic than that of the Beidou Army’s men.’

Nearby, Hong Luan’s heart trembled. Only Cao Ying had escaped from the Beidou Army contingent; the others likely hadn’t survived. If she recalled correctly, Yue Shu, a warrior of her same renown, had been part of that retreating unit. That meant...

"Go and treat your wounds," Zhao Xuanqi said. "I fear we’ll have another vicious fight on our hands soon."

Yang Xun nodded. Lu Yuanxiang immediately stepped out from the crowd and led the two into the pavilion. For situations like this, the Martial Arts Association had long since prepared the best Wound Medicine to handle any emergencies.

As everyone watched the two disappear from sight, any joy they had felt from Zhao Xuanqi’s safe and sound return evaporated completely.

Including the three masters Zhao Xuanqi’s group had faced, the enemy had now deployed a total of five masters of the Sixteen Generals’ caliber.

’I wonder how Li Ping’s group is doing?’

Time flew. Another Quarter Hour passed, but Li Ping still had not returned. A knot of anxiety tightened in everyone’s chests.

"I’ll follow their route and check things out."

Zhao Xuanqi said, deciding not to wait any longer and risk something going wrong.

SWOOSH!

However, just as he was about to act, a commotion finally came from outside. Several figures flashed into the courtyard—it was Li Ping, along with Yin Wood Lei Bi Celestial Mansion and the rest of the Shenxiao Army contingent.

Judging by their numbers, Li Ping’s mission seemed to have gone more smoothly than Yang Xun’s, as he had rescued more people. However, when the others saw their faces, they were all horrified.

Li Ping, Bi Celestial Mansion, and the others all had wide, staring eyes, so bloodshot they were almost completely crimson. Thick veins bulged on their foreheads, and blood streamed uncontrollably from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths.

These were signs of damage to the brain and Spirit.

"We ran into two Neon masters. One was the Vice President of the Profound Ocean Society, Wakatsuki Kei. The other’s identity is unknown. Both are experts in Spiritual Secret Techniques. The unidentified Neon man, in particular, was terrifyingly powerful. I had to use a special method to break his Secret Technique, but it took a heavy toll."

"There’s no time to talk. I need to recover quickly and get back to overseeing the Intelligence Department."

Li Ping swept his gaze over the crowd, and without wasting time on pleasantries, walked directly toward the pavilion to begin his recovery.

His duties were heavy, and he couldn’t afford to waste time. He still needed to oversee the work of the Jinmen National Salvation Association’s Intelligence Department and do everything possible to determine the enemy’s next moves.

And on top of that, there was the shifting situation across the entire Divine Land.

It was clear that the Neon’s operation in Jinmen was no rash impulse; they were likely playing a much larger game.

Tonight, an earth-shattering change was sure to befall the Divine Land.

After Li Ping left, Bi Celestial Mansion and the others gave the crowd a slight nod before being led toward the pavilion by a member of the Martial Arts Association.

Everyone understood the situation. To remain in Jinmen and have any hope of survival, they had to be ready to fight with everything they had. Otherwise, the Neon Influence would never let them go.
