Outside the Yuan Mansion.
Amid the sounds of cannon fire and slaughter, the defensive circle formed by the Divine Land’s masters was being relentlessly compressed. They were forced back toward the Yuan Mansion, its tall courtyard walls now looming right before their eyes. They had been pushed to the brink, with nowhere left to retreat.
"Stop this pointless struggle. Surrender peacefully. All of you are rare talents. To have cultivated the Martial Dao to this level is no small feat. It would be a true shame to die here in a futile last stand. If you cooperate with our empire, we can not only guarantee your lives but also promise to protect your status and interests in the Divine Land."
"The Divine Land will soon establish a new nation, and you can still be the masters of this land. You could even wield greater power than before."
Mitsuro, leading the other three restricted-level masters, approached slowly and spoke calmly to the Divine Land warriors before them.
"Masters? More like your puppets and lapdogs! Who doesn’t know of your Neon Nation’s vile ambitions? How could we ever agree to the destruction of our nation and our people?!"
"Jiang Feiyu, I once respected you as a true hero. When the Saint Sha Empire invaded the Northern Territory, you single-handedly stormed the enemy camp and suffered sixty-seven blade wounds. With a single call to arms, you rallied countless heroes of the Northern Territory and led them to a great victory over the Daqian army. Have you now betrayed your ancestors and become someone else’s slave?!"
Chi Zhenyun sneered. Blood was trickling from his seven facial orifices, and his eyes were so bloodshot it looked as if they might fall from their sockets at any moment.
The continuous battles had pushed his Spirit and Physical Ability to their absolute limits.
"There are some things you wouldn’t understand. What I am doing is for the sake of this Divine Land."
Jiang Feiyu said calmly.
"Look at the horrific state of Shangjing! Is this what you call ’for the sake of the Divine Land’?!"
Li Wanhong roared in anger.
"These are merely growing pains. Throughout history, which change of dynasty has not been accompanied by rivers of blood? If you know what’s good for you and surrender, we can talk things over."
Jiang Feiyu said.
"Surrender? In your wildest dreams! A person’s life is but a fleeting hundred years. Today, I, Xie Yunhe, will die in battle in Shangjing. Future generations will surely sing my name and call me a hero! That is the path to eternal life, a glory that will never fade. What is there to fear? Today, we fight to the death! We will trade your lives for our everlasting fame!"
Xie Yunhe’s eyes blazed with fury, his hair and beard standing on end as he roared.
"Well said. In that case, it is a shame you will all have to be buried along with this thousand-year-old capital of the Divine Land."
Shinkawa Yue said with extreme indifference, stepping forward.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
With every step the four masters took, the many Neon experts and soldiers behind them stepped forward in unison. The sound of their footsteps merged into one, like a death knell, bringing with it an suffocating pressure.
’Still no movement?’
The group glanced back toward the Yuan Mansion, then clenched their jaws and turned to face the advancing Neon army, their expressions resolute.
They had no path of retreat left.
However, at that very moment!!
ROAR!!
A massive roar suddenly erupted from within the Yuan Mansion. The sound seemed to shatter some kind of barrier, growing from faint to overwhelming until it drowned out every other noise within a radius of ten li.
The colossal roar shot straight into the heavens, seeming to shatter the heavy clouds that filled the sky, causing them to break apart and scatter.
The advance of the four restricted-level masters and their soldiers came to a sudden halt. Amidst the immense roar, the ordinary soldiers began to tremble uncontrollably for reasons they couldn’t comprehend, as if some deep-seated instinct was screaming a warning about the hidden danger ahead.
Even the four restricted-level masters and the other Neon experts felt a sense of fear instinctively rise in their hearts.
It was as if a Divine Dragon had awakened, its draconic might suppressing all living things.
’What happened inside the Yuan Mansion?’
’Could it... have something to do with Yuan Tianhao?’
Watching the battle from a distance with a spyglass, Seiichiro Shintani’s expression shifted slightly as he looked toward the Yuan Mansion. He saw the ground of the inner courtyard crack and explode, leaving a massive crater. The terrifying roar was emanating from that very hole.
’An underground chamber?’
A full thirty seconds passed with no one emerging from the crater. Then, Seiichiro Shintani saw a light, as dense and brilliant as liquid silver, burst forth from within.
He could faintly make out a human figure bathed in that silver light, leaping up from the underground chamber. But at that moment, the light was so blindingly intense that it completely obscured the person’s form, preventing Seiichiro Shintani from discerning their shape or face, even with his special spyglass.
’Who in the world is that?!’
Meanwhile, outside the Yuan Mansion, everyone had turned to look in its direction.
VMMMM!!
A silver pillar of light shot into the sky, connecting heaven and earth. Like a celestial column, it seemed to single-handedly prop up a section of the heavens.
Before the astonished eyes of the crowd, the silver pillar of light suddenly expanded. The mercury-like radiance swelled and transformed, taking on the Holy Beast Form of an immense creature.
It stood dozens of meters tall, covered in lifelike silver scales. A pair of deer-like antlers stretched toward the sky, and draconic whiskers on either side of its face drifted in the night air. Its massive eyes were wide open, as if to illuminate and destroy all the Demon Tribulations and chaos in the world.
The Holy Beast roared at the heavens, and a light of auspicious fortune radiated outward, dispelling the terrifying, baleful killing intent of the Neon army.
Then, the Holy Beast lowered its head. Its enormous eyes seemed to blaze with an infinite rage, ready to incinerate everything in their sight.
