Chapter 105: Chapter 105: A Chilling Realization

She wasn’t one to be scared off or beaten down by just a few words.

Come what may, she’d handle it. She refused to believe she couldn’t protect her little cubs.

The man was taken aback by the determination flaring in her eyes.

Then he sneered.

"You’re overestimating yourself."

Shen Yue wasn’t one to take an insult lying down. She strode back, stood before the Electric Shock Stick, and glared at him.

"You’re right, I am overestimating myself. So while I still have the energy, I’m going to give you a proper taste of torture!"

The man flinched in the water.

"What are you doing?"

Shen Yue slammed her foot down on the Electric Shock Stick’s button.

"What am I doing? I’m giving you a little jolt, to show you just how I ’overestimate myself’!"

Instantly, a massive current surged through the wires and into the water. The man immediately began to dance as if his feet were on fire!

He convulsed, his limbs flailing wildly.

The sound of CRACKLING and POPPING filled the air as sparks flew from his body, which began to emit wisps of acrid smoke.

The man didn’t last more than a few seconds before his body went rigid and he collapsed, foaming at the mouth.

Still not satisfied, Shen Yue set the Electric Shock Stick to deliver a jolt automatically every five minutes before turning to leave.

She had previously set it for once every half hour.

This time, she was going to fry him to a crisp!

As Shen Yue walked out, she surveyed the cave. She had converted it into a special electric water prison just for this man.

She knew from the start it would be difficult to make him talk, and she hadn’t really expected him to say anything.

All she wanted was to pry a few useful tidbits of information from him.

...to confirm her suspicions about the original owner of her body.

From the looks of it, the original "Shen Yue" had indeed been playing dumb all along and had offended some mysterious, powerful figure.

The identity of this powerful figure was still a mystery.

But it was clear this person had many subordinates and led an extremely secretive and powerful organization. Everyone in it was likely as formidable as the man in the water.

Their goal seemed to be to harm the original Shen Yue’s children and get revenge on her—a relentless, to-the-death vendetta.

The original Shen Yue had acted crazy and played the fool, earning herself a notorious reputation, most likely as a cover to escape this organization’s pursuit.

These were the general conclusions Shen Yue had drawn so far.

But as for why the original Shen Yue went to Beastification City and had that wild night, so coincidentally sleeping with six of her seven fiancés, leading to her exile and eventual death on Wilderness Mountain... that was something she still couldn’t figure out.

She couldn’t help but review the facts in her mind again, checking if she had missed anything.

Then, something suddenly struck her...

’Wait a minute. The man in black recognized me as Shen Yue the moment he saw my face.’

’But the original Shen Yue had been using a hideously ugly face while she was playing the fool. This man in black saw my current face and wasn’t shocked at all. In fact, he recognized me instantly. Something’s not right about that.’

’And the most crucial point of all: the original Shen Yue was diagnosed as infertile. Yet these people’s goal is to kill her children. How could they have known she was able to get pregnant?’

’What is going on? If the fertility test results were accurate, how could she have given birth to seven cubs at once?’

’Could it be... that the original Shen Yue’s fertility test results were fake?’

’Or did she know all along that she had a rare SSS+ fertility constitution?’

’Did she know from the start that these people were after her, trying to prevent her from conceiving?’

’Did she use a fake fertility diagnosis as a smokescreen, then run off to Beastification City to "borrow a seed"?’

’Then she secretly got pregnant and used her exile as a pretext to escape to the barbaric land and give birth in secret?’

’All to escape from these people??’

The thought stunned Shen Yue!

’Heavens!’

’If the original Shen Yue was truly that calculating—if even the fake fertility diagnosis was part of a deliberate plan...’

’...then it means she intentionally went to Beastification City that day, precisely selected those men to get pregnant by, and successfully orchestrated her own exile, all so she could have her cubs in secret.’

’So her coming to Wilderness Mountain was also deliberate! She was protecting herself and the children in her womb!’

’Oh, my god.’

Shen Yue felt as if she had just uncovered the original owner’s earth-shattering secret.

Goosebumps erupted all over her skin!!

’If that’s the case, it means that even Huang Ziyue and Ye Lüqi were part of her plan!’

’The children weren’t an accident from a one-night stand. They were the result of a meticulous, long-term plan. She had them on purpose. They were the children she had longed for and was willing to die to protect!!’

Shen Yue tried to calm herself.

For now, it was only a theory. But the mere possibility was enough to make her tremble with shock!

It was the only way to explain all of the original Shen Yue’s past actions!

’What kind of woman was the original Shen Yue? Could she really have been capable of all this?’

’But then why did she suddenly die on Wilderness Mountain?’

She took a deep breath. Her thoughts drifted to the night before last, when she had fled with her children while facing Gremu. Only then did she truly understand how debilitating the weakness caused by her heat cycle was.

With her advanced medical knowledge, she had managed to hit several of her own pressure points in a desperate move to suppress the internal fire and regain control.

’But the original Shen Yue... her fiancés had been unwilling to marry her for years. She must have gone into heat at least four times a year, right?’

’With a scent as potent as hers, how could she possibly have hidden it from everyone in the Royal City?’

’So the original Shen Yue must have used some method to conceal her special constitution, or to suppress her heat cycles?’

The more she thought about it, piecing everything together from start to finish, the more terrifying the implications seemed.

Deciding it was better not to dwell on it, she focused on regulating her breathing. For now, all she could do was prepare for the dangers she already knew about.

The many mysteries surrounding the original Shen Yue would have to be unraveled over time.

Shen Yue suppressed her roiling emotions and returned to the children’s cave.

After the terror of that night, the children had been especially clingy these last two days. They grew anxious if she was out of their sight for even a moment.

So, the moment she returned, Er Bao latched onto her leg.

"Female mother, Er Bao woke up and didn’t see you! Where did you go, female mother?"

Little Qi hugged her too.

"Female mother, Xi Xi dreamed about the big bad man from that night again! Xi Xi is scared!"

Thinking of her recent theory, Shen Yue’s heart ached, and she scooped Little Qi into her arms.

If these children were something the original Shen Yue had risked her life for, then she would do everything in her power to protect them in her stead.

Her voice was low and gentle.

"My poor Xi Xi had a nightmare, huh? Don’t be afraid. Female mother is holding you now. Female mother has already chased the bad man away. He won’t dare bully my Xi Xi again!"

She sat on the ground, her heart stirring as she looked at her little ones.

"Female mother just went to check on something outside. I didn’t go anywhere. Don’t be afraid, I’m not leaving. If you’re still sleepy, you can go back to sleep for a while. Female mother will watch over you, okay?"

Hearing this, the little ones snuggled happily into Shen Yue’s embrace.

"Wubao isn’t sleepy! Wubao wants to go out and build our house!"

"Dabao wants to help too!"

"Liu Bao wants our home to go back to the way it was."

Their bamboo house had been destroyed, and the entire mountaintop had been practically leveled, so for the past two days, the little cubs had been forced to live back in their old cave.

Thankfully, Si Muye had dug the cave to be sturdy, or else they wouldn’t have even had a cave to sleep in.
