Their injuries had been so severe, he’d thought he would find their corpses when he came back.

She looked at the chopsticks he offered her and nodded.
"You did a great job. They’ll work perfectly!"
Mu Silin, holding a bamboo tray, shot Gu Fangqi a look.
Then his eyes shifted to Si Bao in Shen Yue’s arms.
He understood everything in an instant and went straight for the jugular.
"I thought you left. What are you doing back here?"
Gu Fangqi: "..."
’I came back to claim my son.’
Ye Lüqi put down the bamboo stalk he was holding and chimed in,
"You left, and now you’re back. Don’t tell me you’re here to snatch the kid!"
Lan Cangyue looked at Gu Fangqi and commented coolly,
"So, you’re Si Bao’s Father? You certainly took your sweet time getting here. I was starting to think you wouldn’t show up at all."
’We’ve been here for so long, and this man is only just now tracking them down. Looks like aside from some flashy fur, he’s not all that impressive!’
Gu Fangqi was hit with a barrage of sarcastic remarks and hostile glares. He was annoyed, but also momentarily baffled.
’Judging by their tone, did they come looking for her too?’

’I’m the one who saved them, for crying out loud!’
’No, wait a minute. That means last night I saved my own son... and my own woman!’

’If I hadn’t shown up, would something have happened to them?’ A sudden wave of fear washed over him.
’Hang on... The reason they’re being so hostile... could it be they’re afraid I’ll compete with them for her?’
He froze. ’Could it be that these men, like me, aren’t her Beast Husbands? Are they just the children’s fathers?’
After Gu Fangqi had rescued Mu Silin and the others at Shen Yue’s request, they had fallen unconscious from their severe injuries.
When they woke up, Shen Yue simply told them that their rescuer had already left.
They had also gathered from what Shen Yue said that this man was likely Si Bao’s Father.

"What are you talking about? My child and my child’s female mother are both mine. It was only a matter of time before I came for them!"

Mu Silin scoffed.
"Yours? You’re the newcomer here. Did you ask our opinion?"
Ye Lüqi raised an eyebrow.
"I’ve been here much longer than you, yet I wouldn’t dare claim her as mine. You, on the other hand, have no humility at all!"
Gu Fangqi retorted,
"With a face like mine, why would I need to be humble? Besides, we have a child together. That makes me hers, which means she’s mine!"
Shen Yue: "..."
’That line sounds so familiar. Where have I heard that before?’
Lan Cangyue glanced at Ye Lüqi and twisted the knife.
"The last person who said that ended up with a swollen face."
He was talking about Ye Lüqi. Ye Lüqi had said the exact same thing, trying to use a child to define their relationship. He was dreaming!
Ye Lüqi knew the comment was directed at him, and he flushed with embarrassment.
Mu Silin shot a look at Ye Lüqi before turning back to Gu Fangqi, his words laden with meaning.
"Exactly. Be careful you’re not the next one to be put in your place."
Seeing that a fight was about to break out, Shen Yue quickly interrupted,
"Hey, uh, why don’t we eat first? The food’s going to get cold!"
At her words, the men stopped bickering.
They all worked in unspoken agreement, placing the dishes Shen Yue had prepared onto the stone table.
The five men stared, their eyes wide, at the table laden with food. They had smelled the fragrant aromas while building the bamboo house earlier and knew Shen Yue was making something delicious.
But they hadn’t expected such a massive feast.
They had never even seen some of these dishes before.
Shen Yue brought over a basket of sweet potatoes and corn and looked at Gu Fangqi.
"What are you standing over there for? Come on, eat with us."
Gu Fangqi had already been captivated by the aroma of the food.
So, without any hesitation, he sat down.
The little cubs gazed at the dishes piled high on the table.
"Wow, so much food!"
"Female Mother is so amazing!"
"Er Bao is so, so hungry! I wanna eat!"
Mu Silin looked at Er Bao and said soothingly,
"Be a good boy, Er Bao. Wait for your Female Mother to sit down before we eat."
After adapting over the past few days, the men had all learned to use chopsticks and had become more familiar with table etiquette.
After bringing out the last dish, a small baked pumpkin, Shen Yue sat down.
"Okay, everything’s ready!"
She began, "I made this meal to celebrate us surviving that close call. Let me introduce the dishes. This one is a cold eggplant salad, this is a cucumber salad, and this is broccoli."
"This is iron-pot braised pheasant. This is fish with Sichuan peppercorns. This is grilled capelin, and this one... well, you can probably guess. It’s a whole roasted lamb."
"And over here, we have pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and corn."
Everyone at the table followed her introduction, their gazes moving from one dish to the next.
They were all utterly amazed.
Gu Fangqi, in particular, could barely contain the shock on his face.
Now that the lids were off every pot, the sight of the colorful food and the rich aroma that wafted toward him was overwhelmingly tempting.
He had never seen dishes like these, nor smelled anything so fragrant. He asked in astonishment,
"You... you made all of this by yourself?"
’How does she know how to make all this?’
Seeing Gu Fangqi’s stunned expression, Ye Lüqi puffed up his chest with pride.
"Don’t be so surprised. My Female Master is capable of many things. Cooking is nothing; this is just one of her many talents."
