Chapter 63: How on Earth Did She Hold On?Chapter 63: Chapter 63: How on Earth Did She Hold On?
Mu Silin looked at the unconscious woman in his arms, his heart in his throat.
His eyes turned red with disbelief.
He had finally found her.
He pulled Shen Yue tightly into his embrace.
He felt her body heat and the beat of her heart. Only after holding her to his heart’s content did he slowly release her.
He looked at the wound on her shoulder and the bloodstains on her body.
His heart ached for her.
’Such a small, fragile female... How on earth did she manage to hold on?’
’She fell into such a deep abyss, and yet she’s still alive!’
’He’d thought that when he followed her into the closing chasm, he would find her immediately and protect her.’
’But he never expected the abyss below to be like an unimaginably vast maze.’
’Those who fell from above were scattered, landing in random locations.’
’After he landed, he could sense her presence and her location. She felt so close, yet he just couldn’t navigate the labyrinthine caves to reach her directly.’
’Thank heavens. God only knew how terrified he had been.’
’Terrified that she wouldn’t be able to hold on until he could rescue her.’
’But she did. She held on. She waited for him!’
Mu Silin felt as if he had recovered a lost treasure. He carefully scooped her up into his arms.
This was the moment he had dreamed of so many times—to be this close to her, face to face, feeling the warmth of her body.
He never thought the first time he held her would be under such dire circumstances.
Just then, he sensed movement from behind—something was in pursuit. His gaze darkened.
’He was going to see exactly what kind of beast had dared to hurt her.’
But when he saw the Lizardmen crawling toward them, he froze.
’These are... Mutated Beasts?’
’She’d been fighting Mutated Lizards for this long?’
’How in the world did she manage it?’
He looked at the puncture wound and claw marks on her shoulder. ’Were these from their claws?’
His heart sank, and a murderous aura emanated from him.
.....
Shen Yue woke up burning. She was hot and miserable, feeling as though a fire raged within her.
The fire made every bone in her body ache with an unbearable itch.
Her heart felt restless, as if ants were crawling over it.
She desperately wanted to rub against a log and sink her teeth into it.
She slowly opened her eyes. Her face, flushed and dazed from the heat, was alluringly beautiful.
The hot air she exhaled seemed capable of igniting the entire cave.
She looked dazedly at the man before her, who was cloaked in a black robe.
His well-defined features, his incomparably handsome face, that incredibly sharp, smooth jawline, and his thin, sexy lips.
His robes were slightly open at the chest, revealing firm, hard pectoral muscles.
’So handsome. So beautiful to look at!’
’Just looking at him felt like it could cool her down.’
’I really want to pounce on him.’
Her gaze met the man’s deep, dark green eyes. She licked her parched lips:
"It’s so hot... I feel awful!"
Mu Silin’s ears burned under her hazy gaze. His mouth went dry.
He tore his gaze away, unable to look at her.
’How could he not know how much she was suffering?’
The Mutated Lizardman’s poison was notoriously potent; it induced the most primal, beastly desires in its victims.
It started by making its victim dazed and listless, then sapped the strength from their limbs, and finally, it ignited a fire of lust within them.
Shen Yue was now consumed by this fire of lust. Only sexual union could serve as the antidote.
Otherwise, the fiery poison would attack her system. In mild cases, it would lead to permanent disability; in severe cases, it would be fatal.
But how could he dare take advantage of her vulnerability to "help" her with the antidote?
Shen Yue slowly sat up, asking in a daze:
"Who are you? Where am I?"
She remembered... falling into a chasm of immeasurable depth, being chased by Lizardmen, and she thought she’d been poisoned...
Mu Silin watched her, unsure of how to respond.
But after a moment’s thought, he said,
"You don’t recognize me. My name is Mu Silin. I’m also... I’m also Er Bao’s Father."
Shen Yue lowered her head, rubbing her temples and murmuring,
"Er Bao’s Father."
’Who was Er Bao’s Father?’
’Her memories were a fragmented, hopeless mess!’
Mu Silin watched her expression intently, afraid she might suddenly erupt and attack him, just as she had the fox and the Flood Dragon.
’He knew she didn’t want them around!’
A bitter feeling welled up in Mu Silin’s heart. If only he had gotten to know her sooner, if he hadn’t listened to the rumors, if he had honored their betrothal and married her...
’Then how could she have ended up suffering like this!’
Shen Yue seemed to have completely lost her senses to the fiery poison. Even from a distance, Mu Silin could feel a frightening heat radiating from her body.
Her hazy eyes were fixed on him.
Feeling a pang of guilt, Mu Silin quickly added,
"Before... when you were caught in the rockslide, and when the Ancient Bear Clan People were hunting you... I was the one who saved you and Er Bao from the shadows. I know you don’t like..."
But he was only halfway through his sentence.
...when Shen Yue tackled him.
Mu Silin’s eyes flew wide as he fell to the ground. Instinctively, he cushioned the back of her head with his hand, afraid she would get hurt.
They tumbled to the ground together.
Shen Yue clung to his chest like a parched desert finding an oasis.
She buried her face in the crook of his neck:
"So cool... so comfortable."
Her scorching lips pressed against his neck, making his breath hitch.
Her bonelessly pliant body was pressed entirely against his.
His heart began to pound:
"Shen Yue, you... you need to snap out of it."
"Do you know who I am?"
Right now, Shen Yue was like a drowning person clutching a lifeline, a raging inferno that had found a cooling spring.
She was in no state to wonder who he was.
She only wanted to strip the man before her and quench the fire in her heart. And in fact, that’s exactly what she started to do.
In her feverish haste, her scorching hands were already eagerly slipping inside his robes, against his chest.
Mu Silin froze instantly. A wave of heat surged from his lower abdomen.
His breathing grew ragged. He grabbed her wandering hand:
"Shen Yue, look at me. See who I am."
The man’s cool skin, the firm and defined muscles of his abdomen... just the touch was enough to soothe the maddening itch deep in Shen Yue’s bones.
But just touching him wasn’t enough for her.
So she straddled his strong waist, bit down on his neck, and began to lick the spot.
BOOM!
Mu Silin felt his entire body ignite.
Her tongue sent a tingling jolt through him, like an enticing flower bud slowly blooming, teasing his senses.
His entire body went rigid. The muscles of his chest were so hard they seemed to pulse with every breath he took.
Shen Yue poked his pectoral muscle:
"So hard..."
Mu Silin sucked in a sharp breath.
His throat tightened, and his voice was hoarse as he said:
"Shen Yue, you’d better not regret this."
’Even if she did, it was too late.’
’He didn’t want to hold back any longer.’
’Even if she woke up clear-headed and hated him for this, despised him, loathed him.’
’He would cling to her and never let her go, not for the rest of his life.’
Mu Silin tangled a hand in her hair, locking her in place as he brought his mouth down on hers.
The man’s kiss was dominant and searing, like rain after a long drought, finally quenching the fire within Shen Yue.
He held her tightly, his tall, solid frame completely enveloping her.
She arched her neck like a cat, accepting his fierce kiss.
A rich fragrance began to emanate from Shen Yue’s body, a scent so intoxicating that Mu Silin wanted to devour her whole right then and there.
But he was afraid of hurting her, of causing her pain.
He couldn’t bear the thought.
So, with great effort, he restrained his own beastly desires and kissed her gently.
