Chapter 94: Is She Unhappy Because He Won?Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Is She Unhappy Because He Won?
Shen Yue looked at the five men staring intently at her and thought, ’This is a real pickle.’
On the surface, they said she could pick any of them.
But if she actually picked one, the other four were guaranteed to be upset.
And they would undoubtedly start fighting right in front of her again.
Looking at these five gorgeous men, all with such hopeful eyes, how could she possibly be the bad guy?
So, to avoid offending anyone, she decided to treat them all with perfect fairness.
She cleared her throat.
"Well... to be honest, each and every one of you is exceptional. I’m very pleased with you all—you’re practically flawless."
Upon hearing this, all five men puffed up with pride, as if they’d just been personally acknowledged and praised.
But then Shen Yue’s tone became pained.
"But if I absolutely must choose only one of you, I feel it would be unfair to the other four. After all, you’re all willing to make such a great... contribution for me with your bodies. How could I bear to make any single one of you heartbroken?"
"If any of you were heartbroken, I’d be heartbroken too."
As soon as she said this, the five men’s hearts began to race with excitement.
’So Shen Yue, who always seemed so indifferent to us, actually cares this much?’
’She’s worried about us being heartbroken?’
’If we were heartbroken, she’d be heartbroken too?’
They could hardly believe it. They never thought they’d actually succeeded—she had feelings for them!
And how could they bear to make things difficult for someone so wonderful?
At once, the men exchanged glances.
Mu Silin spoke first.
"Choose with an easy heart. No matter who you pick, I won’t utter a single word of complaint."
Ye Lüqi nodded as well.
"The same goes for me. As long as I know you truly care for me, I won’t pester you or cause a scene."
Bai Chaosi listened, his handsome, gentle face softening with understanding.
"Don’t worry, I won’t make this hard for you. Whatever you decide, I’ll respect it. If need be, my one hundred techniques can simply wait a little longer for you. I can afford to be patient."
Lan Cangyue glanced at the others, one of his bewitching eyebrows arching. Not to be outdone, he said magnanimously,
"I have no objection to whomever Master chooses."
That single word, "Master," sent a thrill through Shen Yue that nearly made her bones melt...
Huang Ziyue listened to the other four, seeing right through them. Their faces might have projected an air of nonchalant generosity, but their eyes told a different story—each one was more full of drama than the last.
He simply said:
"Just pick me."
The other four were instantly struck speechless.
"You Flood Dragon! Still trying to snatch her away?"
"After everything she said, you’re still being this blunt? Are you trying to force her hand?"
"She just said she doesn’t want to break our hearts! Can you stop making things difficult for her and let her choose on her own?"
Shen Yue’s lips twitched.
’I knew it,’ she thought. ’They talk a big game about having "no objection," but the moment one of them actually asks to be picked, they all flip.’
’But this Flood Dragon really doesn’t have a single subtle bone in his body. He’s so blunt.’
Hearing this, Huang Ziyue swept his gaze over the other men.
"You have no complaints. You have no objections. Therefore, if she picks me, there’s no difficulty for her."
’Using their own words against them. Perfect!’
Mu Silin: "You!"
Lan Cangyue: "Despicable! Shameless!"
Shen Yue hurriedly cut in before they could completely lose it.
"Ahem, I actually have a better idea."
All five men immediately turned to look at her.
Shen Yue said, deadpan,
"Has it never occurred to you that the most difficult choices can be settled with the simplest methods? Like... rock-paper-scissors. Or drawing lots!"
Hearing this, the men had a sudden epiphany.
That’s right! Since Shen Yue couldn’t choose, why not let them decide among themselves?
Victory or defeat would be in their own hands.
Seeing the expressions on their faces change, Shen Yue knew they were on board. She breathed a sigh of relief.
’The heat is about to blow the top of my head off,’ she thought. ’Damn it, I urgently need to find a man to... use.’
’If they keep bickering, this will never end!’
’Right now, these five are the only ones available. Although... since the original owner of this body was with them, using them now feels a bit like I’m getting her sloppy seconds.’
’It’s a really gross feeling, like two different people in the same body sleeping with the same men, one after the other.’
’But I can’t just let myself suffer!’
’I’m not a fan of second-hand men, but what choice do I have?!’
’After all, I’m the one who inherited her body!’
Just then, Ye Lüqi spoke up.
"I think this is an excellent idea!"
Mu Silin: "I, too, find this plan acceptable."
Lan Cangyue also nodded.
"Fine, I agree as well. Let’s draw lots, then. But you all have to promise: whoever gets picked, that’s it. One chance. And you have to be a good sport about it!"
Ye Lüqi: "Do you even need to say that? We’re all men here. You think we’d be sore losers in public?"
Bai Chaosi glanced at Shen Yue’s little, flushed face and said unhurriedly,
"It’s too easy to cheat at drawing lots. Let’s do rock-paper-scissors."
Huang Ziyue: "Fine."
One word.
An agreement was reached.
And so, the most ridiculous scene in history unfolded in the courtyard.
Five grown men stood ramrod straight, each one exuding an imposing aura.
Yet, like little children, they all put their hands behind their backs.
Then, they all held their breath, preparing to throw.
Shen Yue’s lips twitched as she watched.
’Rock-paper-scissors has an element of luck,’ she mused. ’So who wins and who loses isn’t up to me, and it isn’t really up to them either.’
’They’ll have to accept the final outcome, whether they like it or not.’
Meanwhile, in the shadows, the men’s subordinates had also grown tense.
Although watching their masters play rock-paper-scissors looked rather childish and comical, who was to say it wasn’t a good solution?
And so, the subordinates all prayed silently for their respective masters.
Hoping they would win it all in one go!
When all five men threw at once, and their hands, gleaming in the moonlight, were all fists, Shen Yue paused.
’Well now, all rocks.’
Mu Silin: "Again!"
The second round.
All paper!
Lan Cangyue: "Come on!"
The third round.
All scissors!
Shen Yue: "..."
’Are they really this in sync?’
The fourth round.
Still all paper...
Ye Lüqi: "Keep going!"
The men’s expressions were grim, as if they were playing rock-paper-scissors to save the entire world.
The fifth round.
Finally... Lan Cangyue threw scissors, while the other four threw rock.
Lan Cangyue froze in place.
’Unbelievable,’ he thought. ’I’m the first one out?’
Shen Yue stole a glance at his expression, trying to stifle a laugh.
’Too bad, my poor fish,’ she thought. ’Looks like luck isn’t on your side!’
Next up, Ye Lüqi was the second one out.
Just like Lan Cangyue, the confident smile on Ye Lüqi’s face instantly froze, leaving him looking completely dumbfounded.
"How could I lose?"
Lan Cangyue, still smarting from his own loss, retorted mockingly,
"If I can lose, what makes you think you can’t?"
Ye Lüqi sneered.
"You flirty fish. Are you even in the same league as me?"
Then, in the next round, Mu Silin and Bai Chaosi both threw paper...
...while Huang Ziyue threw scissors.
Mu Silin’s eyes widened, his heart filled with indignation.
"This...!! How could I possibly lose to you?"
The gentle warmth vanished from Bai Chaosi’s face as well. He lowered his gaze, looking deeply disappointed.
With both of them eliminated at once, the winner was decided.
Huang Ziyue: "A bet is a bet."
With that, his gaze shifted, landing directly on Shen Yue.
When Shen Yue met his icy stare, the heat coursing through her body seemed to instantly cool by several degrees.
’Good heavens!’
’Why did it have to be this human popsicle?’
’How is his luck so good?’
’Just one look from him was enough to cool me down. The effect is... really something else.’
She wanted to roll her eyes at the heavens, but she had to be a good sport.
This had been her idea, after all. So, steeling herself, she met Huang Ziyue’s gaze and forced an awkward laugh.
"Uh... Cong-rats... uh, congrats!"
Huang Ziyue’s eyes narrowed. "Hm?"
He didn’t understand.
At the same time, he sensed that Shen Yue didn’t seem happy.
’Is she unhappy because I won?’
