Seven Cubs, Seven Fathers, Zero Days Off

Chapter 97: Are There Bad Guys Outside?

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Are There Bad Guys Outside?

Startled by the loud noise outside, Shen Yue tightened her grip on Huang Ziyue’s arm.

In the next second, her vision went dark, and the scene before her eyes shifted.

She saw plumes of black mist darting into the bamboo house, like a pair of invisible, ghostly hands reaching for her seven children.

The little ones were instantly jolted awake by the commotion. Terrified, they burst into tears, running around in a panic and crying out for their female mother.

During the chaos, Dabao tried to use his spiritual power to fight back and save his younger siblings.

Sanbao also stepped forward, his small body glowing with red light as he shielded Qibao and Liu Bao.

But the black mist coalesced, growing larger and larger like an unseen phantom, and lunged at the children in an instant.

Dabao and Sanbao were completely unable to resist or dodge. The black mist pierced through their bodies on the spot, and they collapsed into pools of blood.

Seeing this, the other children screamed in terror.

They were about to rush toward Dabao and Sanbao, who lay in pools of their own blood.

But the black mist coiled around them, constricting the bodies of the remaining children all at once.

By the time Shen Yue rushed out of the cave, the children had been dragged out of the bamboo house by the black mist in an instant.

They vanished into the night.

She dashed forward to grab them, but it was too late. She could only watch as the little ones were swept away by the black mist.

She fell to her knees, looking at the breathless bodies of Dabao and Sanbao, and her sobs became heart-wrenching.

And then, through the void, she saw a figure wreathed in black energy standing in the distant mid-air.

The person stood amidst the darkness, releasing a plume of black mist from his hand.

With a slight lift of his hand, the children were all caught by the mist and delivered into his grasp.

She couldn’t see his face. She only saw him grab the children before his figure flickered and vanished from sight.

Just then, Huang Ziyue, who was holding her, noticed something was wrong.

"What’s wrong?"

After the vision in her eyes faded, Shen Yue’s face was as pale as paper.

Her eyes were bloodshot, and a sharp pain stabbed at her chest, nearly taking her breath away.

"Save... save the children!"

"The children are in danger."

Huang Ziyue watched her gasp for air, her expression one of extreme agony. She even clutched her chest as tears streamed down her face.

His pupils constricted violently.

"Stay here."

As soon as the words left his mouth, he wrapped his long robes around himself and flashed out of the cave.

The moment Huang Ziyue emerged, he saw several people surrounded by dark shadows and heavily injured.

Even his own subordinates and the attendants of Ye Lüqi and the others, who had been hiding in the shadows, were now in the courtyard, working together to fend off the shadows’ assault.

His eyes narrowed. He gathered his immense spiritual power and struck out with his palm.

BANG!

The blow instantly knocked back the shadows that had been relentlessly attacking the group.

The group immediately turned to look, all letting out a collective gasp of air.

Mu Silin clenched his fists, staring at the repelled shadows.

His arm was wounded. He looked at Huang Ziyue.

"What took you so long!"

Bai Chaosi’s once immaculate robes were now stained with blood.

"Where is she?"

He was asking about Shen Yue.

Huang Ziyue’s figure flashed, and he appeared in their midst, his gaze turning toward the bamboo house.

Seeing this, Lan Cangyue watched the darting shadows warily but didn’t forget to ask a question.

"So, how far did you two get? Did the clothes come off?"

Huang Ziyue shot him a cold glance, his face darkening as he remained silent.

Ye Lüqi, surrounded by a golden aura, scanned the area and sneered.

"Looks like you didn’t get to sleep with her. As expected, not even the heavens are on your side!"

The temperature around Huang Ziyue plummeted. He didn’t want to deal with him.

He turned his cold gaze to the shadows circling them.

"Wu Huo, what’s going on?"

His subordinate, Wu Huo, stood back-to-back with him.

"Great Emperor Master, these shadows appeared out of thin air. They have no physical form and move silently. They’re elusive, like ghosts, yet they possess immense power. When I attack with my spiritual power, it’s like punching cotton. It has no effect on them at all."

Mu Silin stared at the shadows.

"Their goal is to get into the bamboo house. We can’t let them in."

Just now, this thing had turned into black mist and tried to seep into the house. Luckily, they had stopped it in time.

Huang Ziyue’s eyes narrowed.

’Into the bamboo house?’

He recalled Shen Yue’s sudden look of pain and terror in the cave.

A terrifying aura erupted from him. With a wave of his hand, a surge of dark red power shot toward the shadows.

The shadows were instantly split apart by his power, scattering into several pieces.

But in the next second, they reformed at a visible speed.

This bizarre scene stunned them all!

Then, the reformed shadows launched a ferocious attack on the group.

Meanwhile, the man in black standing in the void let black mist seep from his hands. Like a mastermind in control of the situation, he watched the scene in front of the bamboo house from afar.

Seeing Huang Ziyue emerge from inside, a chill erupted from his unusual violet eyes.

"The Flood Dragon King?"

The subordinate beside him was also stunned.

"I didn’t expect all of them to be here either."

A frigid aura emanated from the man.

"That woman really did lie to us."

His gaze shifted, and he spoke with viciousness.

"You go. Seize all the children in the house. I’ll deal with these few."

"Yes, my lord."

The subordinate at his side instantly sped toward the bamboo house with excitement.

As the man swirled the black mist in his hands, the shadows below, as if under command, launched a fierce assault against Huang Ziyue and his group.

Inside the house, Shen Yue fought through her discomfort and rushed out after Huang Ziyue left the cave.

She then woke up the seven little ones, who were still deep asleep.

Dabao rubbed his eyes drowsily, his sleep-tousled hair standing on end.

"Female mother, what’s wrong?"

The little ones were all very sleepy.

"Female mother, Wubao is sleepy. I want to keep sleeping!"

"Er Bao too!"

Shen Yue listened to the sounds of fighting outside, her heart pounding with fear.

"My babies, do you remember what your female mother taught you? What do you do when danger comes?"

The little ones instantly became more alert.

"When danger comes, the first thing to do is run."

"Second, if you can’t run, you hide."

"Third, if you can’t hide, you calm down, find the right moment, and take the bad guy down with a single, fatal blow."

Listening to them, Shen Yue took a deep breath.

"That’s right. And about that fatal blow, do you remember the three spots your female mother told you about? You must only strike when you are certain you will succeed."

As she spoke, Shen Yue handed the silver needles she was holding to the little ones.

"Take these and hold them tight. If—and I mean if—anything dangerous happens later, don’t be scared. Just run for your lives, understand?"

By now, the little ones could also hear the noises from outside.

They were all frightened.

"Female mother, what’s happening outside?"

"Er Bao is scared!"

"Are there bad guys outside?"

The little ones all clutched the silver needles Shen Yue had given them, their small hands tense.

Shen Yue forced herself to calm down. For some reason, she felt a primal fear at the memory of the black figure from her vision.

It was as if that figure was a deep shadow buried in her heart.

’I don’t know where this feeling is coming from, but it must be related to the original owner of this body. And there’s a coldness spreading from the bottom of my heart.’

’I understand now. It’s a feeling produced by this body’s instincts.’

’It’s fear. It’s resistance.’

She swept the little ones into her arms.

"It’s okay. Your female mother will protect you. No matter what happens, your female mother will protect you."

The little ones cowered in her embrace, terrified.

But Dabao, though he was scared, bravely tried to comfort Shen Yue.

"Mhm, Dabao will protect our female mother, too! Dabao wants to be with our female mother forever and ever!"

"Si Bao will protect our female mother too!"

Hearing this, Shen Yue’s eyes stung with tears.
