Evan POV

I watchedher fall asleep as the movie had just begun. We had chosen the long lounge chair so she could stretch and be comfortable. She wasn’t feeling well and I wanted to make a good impression so I needed to take care of her.

The last time she was here things had started off great and ended with her secret being exposed. My sisters were in utter shock. My mom was somewhat shocked but she told me sometimes you can’t help who you fall in love with.

She didn’t know it yet but I had spoken to Lilly. When I received the email about no encounters I requested a meeting with her, so a few days ago I flew down to New Orleans and met with her.

Cad said she had been in England all this time and Lilly seemed to never age. Even having the heart-attack she still looked good for your age.

Flashback

"Evan it’s so good to see you," she said giving me a hug and I kissed her on the cheek. I always adored Lilly. Although she was in the escort business, she was a good person.

"You look great Lilly. England must have healing powers. Welcome back."

"Thank you it feels good to be back. So what do I owe this visit Mr. McCain?

"I’m here to talk about Cadence."

"Is something wrong?" Her perfectly arched brows moved up in concern.

"No, but I am in love with her and have been for awhile."

"Does she love you back?"

"I think so but she tries to deny it. I think she feels that she doesn’t deserve to be loved."

"A lot of escorts feel that way. Sometimes they come from broken homes, abuse and have nothing or no one there for them. In Cadence’s case, it was because she was left to raise two children."

"I understand."

"Cadence is special to me. People say I treat her differently than the other girls and that may be true but she has a good heart. She’s not selfish unlike so many others. She stills has a conscious unlike some of us."

I nodded.

"She is special Lilly. As long as I have been a member no one has piqued my interest. All your girls are beautiful but none compare to Cad. She’s smart, beautiful and is genuinely a good person. She’s still young but as time goes on I see her maturing in the woman she is suppose to be."

"I agree one hundred percent and that’s why I feel it’s my duty to protect her. I am more lenient with her as I do the others. Don’t get me wrong I care about all the women I employ, but I feel like Cadence is like a daughter to me. I want to see her succeed professionally and emotionally. She hasn’t had the easiest life and the man that captures her heart will need to understand that. Do you?"

"I do. I want to make her life easier. I know she has a future she has already laid out and I support her."

"Good. Most of the women that work for me have future career goals outside this business. Once they leave my protection because of emotional attachments, they have formed with men in the club, I expect the man to keep her protected."

I nodded.

"It’s just like when the father gives away his daughter to the man she loves. He gives his daughter with the intent that this man will provide for her, treat her with the upmost respect, provide protection and most of all to love and cherish her, not to be treated differently because of her past."

"I agree. My family is aware of her current circumstances."

"What did they say?" she turned around and sat in front of me.

"They were shocked of course. My mother actually spoke to Cadence before she left and told her she would accept her into my life. I love Cadence and I think, rather I know, I can provide all her wants and needs if given a chance."

"I know you can." She smiled.

"So what are your plans, your intentions? What about your daughter?"

I should gave known Cadence would mention Kara.

"I know she wants to finish school and that’s her main priority at this moment. Of course I would want her to finish and hopefully we can get married and live a long life. My daughter absolutely adores Cad so I think the blended families would work out just fine."

"But in the meantime do you expect her to stop working for me?"

"Yes. I want her and for her to be with other men while I make this commitment to her would kill me. She feels obligated to you for taking her in and helping her. So I am asking if you would consider letting her out of her contract. I will provide for all her expenses including school."

"Well now, I didn’t see that part coming. So you really do care and love her?"

"I do. So I’m asking you if you would consider it?" My eyes were pleading with her. I had heard she is a shrewd businesswoman so she may not want to consider my proposal.

"I want to see Cadence happy. If she is happy being with you, I am happy. If she wants to break the contract she will have to do it. I will not dissolve it until she tells me so."

"Thank you, Lilly."

"You are a good man Evan. I knew you two would hit off. But you must promise me that you will take care of her and that you will not intentionally hurt her. You have to give me your word or I promise I will ruin you." She looked at me with all seriousness. She wasn’t making an idle threat. With the power and money she had there was no doubt in my mind she could do it.

"I oblige. I asked that she not be given anymore clients past, present or future, unless it doesn’t work out after we have given our relationship a try," I said standing up.

"Agreed. Good luck Mr. McCain. Just remember she is like a daughter and if she needs me I will be there, good or bad."

She shook my hand and we hugged. I was glad that was over and now all I needed was to convince Cadence we were meant to be together.

End of Flashback

I picked her up and carried her to her room. I didn’t want her sisters to get worry and not see her when they got back. I laid her down and grabbed some clothes out the dresser. Lacey had unpacked her things and I wanted to be sure she was comfortable. They were all nighties.

I ran my hand across my head. I could only imagine what she would look like in each one. I closed the drawer and jogged to my room and got a t-shirt. I quickly changed her clothes and put the covers up on her.

"Stay with me Evan," she whispered. I laid next to her and held her in my arms. It felt like old times and the temptation to have her was eating me up inside. As I got comfortable my eyes got heavy and I drifted off to sleep.
