She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 162 - 129: Because You’re Ugly (2)At the beginning, she was still acting arrogant and domineering, threatening and cursing the trusted aides. But the aides completely ignored her.
Moreover, the aides were now mountain bandits. So they disregarded her noble status and often mocked and ridiculed her.
Over time, her arrogance dissipated. To escape from here, she pleaded, cried, and tried every trick in the book.
Once a person’s will is worn down, they become pessimistic about everything.
Gradually, Princess Changle became as humble as she is now, starting to wag her tail and beg for mercy.
When Princess Changle mentioned her noble status again, Scarface laughed scornfully.
"Ha! Always clamoring that you’re the Commandery Princess, who would believe that you are? Do you know why our chieftain has never wanted you?"
There was a flash of confusion and hope in Princess Changle’s eyes: "Why? Big brother, tell me, why?"
Scarface reappeared outside the window. He looked Princess Changle up and down with a mocking smile.
"Because you’re ugly. No matter who you are, the chieftain said he likes beauties, unless there’s truly no woman left in the camp, it will never be your turn, you ugly freak."
On hearing this, Princess Changle felt as if struck by lightning, the little pride she had was shattered.
Am I really that ugly? Can’t even the noble status of a Commandery Princess cover it?
Always believing herself to be the pride and joy of heaven, Princess Changle was utterly crushed. She wanted to rush out and beat the two bandits at the door, but she couldn’t get out.
She looked down at her dirty clothes and messy hair, a sense of indescribable humiliation surging in her heart, as if a blunt knife was cutting at her heart repeatedly.
She used to be a high and mighty Commandery Princess, admired by countless people, but now she had fallen to the point where even bandits despised her.
Unwilling to give up, she raised her head, still wanting to say something, but saw that Scarface had already left the small window, leaving only a cold "stay put" echoing in the air.
Princess Changle slid powerlessly to the ground, tears rolling down her cheeks.
She scanned the spider webs, chamber pots, clay bowls, and dry hay around her, recalling her former glory and nobility. Remembering those who flattered and circled around her.
But now, all this has become fleeting memories. She was trapped in this shabby wooden house, living a life worse than death.
She didn’t know how much longer she could hold on, nor if she would ever see the light of day again.
Princess Changle sat dispiritedly on the pile of hay, staring blankly at the hardened steamed bun in the clay bowl before her.
In her daze, Princess Changle didn’t realize that Mr. Ping, whom she had once met, had appeared outside the wooden house.
"What’s the situation?"
Ping Chuan came over and asked in a low voice, with a hint of caution in his tone.
Scarface tilted his head, "Inside."
"Hmm!"
Ping Chuan nodded, then leaned close to Scarface’s ear and whispered a few words, upon which Scarface gradually showed a wicked smile.
A sudden sound of chains rattling came from the wooden door.
Clatter, clatter, clatter!
Princess Changle turned her head woodenly to see that the wooden door, which only opened once every morning, had been opened. Scarface and a bandit with a sleazy manner appeared at the door.
In Princess Changle’s eyes, a glimmer of hope flashed.
"Big brother, is it that the chieftain is willing to take me?"
Her voice trembled slightly, filled with joy yet full of expectation.
She quickly stood up, using her fingers to wildly comb her hair, trying to make herself look a bit more beautiful.
She would soon have the chance to leave this wooden house. Her heart was pounding so fast as if it were about to jump out of her chest.
The two bandits slowly walked towards her, Scarface tilted his lips, his gaze scanning over her body, and then showed a mocking smile.
"You’re overthinking it. The chieftain said, seeing an ugly woman affects his appetite, you have no value to us. Let’s go, we’ll take you down the mountain now."
As Scarface’s words fell, Princess Changle only felt darkness before her eyes. A large sack suddenly dropped over her, enveloping her completely.
"Hey, hey! What are you doing? Weren’t you going to take me down the mountain?"
Princess Changle cried out in panic, struggling desperately. Then, she felt herself being lifted up, her bones painfully pressed.
