Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Leaving Valdris Academy

Chapter 277: Leaving Valdris Academy

Dean Qaylus stared at Rhain for a long moment, the deep lines on his forehead carving even deeper.

Finally, Qaylus let out a heavy, resigned sigh.

"You are truly a madman," Qaylus muttered, shaking his head.

But despite his frustration, Qaylus knew that Rhain’s logic was correct.

If they simply sat behind the walls and waited for the month to expire, a war was inevitable.

Old Dean would never surrender Rhain without a fight.

Qaylus retrieved a tailsman from his spatial ring, and sent a message.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The space rippled, and three figures materialized silently.

Every single one of them was a late-stage Domain Master Realm expert.

These were the highest-ranked Preceptors of the Valdris Royal Academy.

"Dean," the three figures bowed respectfully.

"You will follow Rhain," Qaylus commanded, his voice turning deadly serious. "Follow him closely. Protect him from the Imperial assassins, but you must remain entirely hidden. Only act if it is absolutely necessary to save his life."

The three late-stage Domain Masters nodded silently and vanished back into the space, perfectly erasing their presence.

"I thank you, Dean Qaylus," Rhain offered a polite bow, knowing that securing the aid of three late-stage Domain Masters was the ultimate safety net.

Without wasting another second, Rhain turned and strode out of the grand hall.

When Rhain returned to his secluded courtyard, the heavy wooden doors clicked open.

Standing inside the courtyard, pacing anxiously, were Elara, Seris, and Liana.

And leaning casually against the stone pillar was the 8th-level Domain Master, Commander Zorak.

The moment Rhain stepped in, the Commander uncrossed his arms.

"You called me urgently," Commander Zorak spoke, his gravelly voice carrying a hint of anticipation. "Are you planning to do it today?"

Rhain gave a firm nod. "It is best to strike while the iron is hot. Vaelstrum Clan is desperate. We won’t find a better opening."

Hearing his confirmation, Elara stepped forward, her blue eyes filled with profound worry.

"Young master Rhain... are you sure the Vaelstrum Clan will agree to this?" Elara asked, "You are taking a huge risk by leaving the protection of the Academy. If this gamble fails, the consequences are unimaginable."

Rhain looked at Elara’s anxious face.

"I am not entirely sure," Rhain admitted without any pretense. "But right now, staying in a cage is just waiting for death. All I can do is hope, and try my best to force their hand."

Just then, a delicate, trembling hand grabbed his sleeve.

Seris was looking up at him, her pale purple eyes brimming with fear.

Her mind involuntarily flashed back to that bloody night—the blood soaking his robes, tand his heart completely obliterated.

"Husband... please," Seris pleaded, "You must be extremely careful. The people from the Royal Family must be waiting right outside the gates. I cannot... I cannot see you like that again."

Rhain’s expression softened completely.

He gently wrapped his hand over hers, offering a warm, reassuring smile.

"I promise, Seris. I will be careful."

Liana, standing just behind her, also clutched her emerald dress tightly. "Rhain, please come back safely."

"I will," Rhain gave a firm nod.

His demeanor instantly shifted, the gentle warmth vanishing, replaced by a chilling ruthlessness.

He turned toward Elara and Commander Zorak.

"Let’s go."

--------------------

The bustling streets of Valdris City were as lively as ever. Wealthy merchants, arrogant aristocratic heirs, and rogue cultivators filled the massive stone avenues.

Rhain stepped out of the majestic gates of the Valdris Royal Academy, with Elara and Commander Zorak flanking beside him..

They had only walked for a few minutes in the direction of the Vaelstrum Clan’s sprawling estate.

Suddenly—

BOOM—!!!

An overwhelmingly ferocious aura erupted from the crowded street without a single warning.

A catastrophic killing intent locked entirely onto Rhain.

"AARRGHHH!"

"RUN! DOMAIN MASTERS!"

The ordinary citizens and Spirit Manifestation cultivators on the street screamed in sheer panic, scrambling over each other to flee as the crushing pressure of a middle-stage Domain Master pressed down upon the avenue.

A figure in grey robes shot out from the crowd, a condensed blade of lethal essence aimed directly at Rhain’s neck.

But Commander Zorak merely let out a cold snort.

CLANG!

Zorak raised his muscular arm, casually shattering the assassin’s blade with a bare fist and forcing the middle-stage Domain Master to violently skid backward.

"You dare act so brazenly in front of me?" Zorak sneered.

But before Zorak could counterattack—

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Two more catastrophic auras erupted from entirely different directions.

Two more middle-stage Domain Master assassins lunged from the nearby rooftops, their weapons blazing with lethal intent, converging on Rhain simultaneously in a perfectly coordinated crossfire!

Zorak’s eyes widened in alarm.

He pivoted with monstrous speed, his 8th-level Domain Master essence exploding outward as he punched the air, completely intercepting the second assassin.

But he was too far to reach the third.

The third assassin’s blade, glowing with a venomous, space-tearing light, was mere inches from Rhain’s ribs.

But Rhain did not panic.

In fact, he moved first.

His dark grey eyes instantly ignited with a brilliant golden light.

He didn’t hold back a single drop of his power.

"Origin Domain of Darkness."

WHOOSH—!!!

A pitch-black void erupted from the mark on his forehead.

A staggering 50% comprehension of the Law of Darkness swallowed the surrounding space, heavily suppressing the assassin’s movements.

Red Tribulations Heavenly Flame!

The apocalyptic heat of the Red Tribulations Heavenly Flame coated his right arm.

Boundless Sky Wind!

The howling tempest merged with the blood-red fire, multiplying his speed, and power to an inconceivable degree.

And finally—

Void Fist. Second Form!

Rhain combined every single one of his ultimate trump cards into one devastating, point-blank strike, punching directly into the incoming Domain Master’s blade.

BOOM—!!!

The collision was earth-shattering.

The shockwave tore the stone avenue to shreds.

Under the colossal impact of a middle-stage Domain Master’s all-out attack, Rhain’s Origin Domain of Darkness reached its limit and collapsed.

SHATTER!

Rhain was pushed backward, skidding across the cracked stone for a dozen feet.

But miraculously, aside from slightly numbed knuckles, he wasn’t very injured.

On the other side of the impact, the grey-robed assassin was also pushed back.

The assassin lowered his weapon, his hand trembling uncontrollably from the recoil.

He looked at Rhain, his eyes widening in shock.

It was one of the exact same three Domain Master assassins who had ambushed Rhain at the borders of Stormveil City!

During their first battle, this assassin had completely and effortlessly crushed Rhain, forcing him into a desperate, bloody struggle just to survive.

But this time?

He had launched a sneak attack, going all out, and he couldn’t even gain the slightest advantage!

"You..." the assassin spoke, his voice grim and filled with disbelief. "You have become stronger."

Rhain stood up straight, brushing the dust off his dark robes.

He let out a cold laugh.

"You just have to wait a little more," Rhain mocked, his dark grey eyes staring right through the assassin. "I will soon send you to hell."

As soon as he finished speaking—

BOOM! BOOM!

Two more majestic, earth-shattering auras descended from the sky like falling meteors, landing heavily on the shattered avenue.

A total of five grey-robed assassins had now completely surrounded Rhain’s group.
