Chapter 42: Chapter 42. Bloody Perv
Chapter 42. Bloody Perv
He couldn’t help the snicker that escaped his mouth, clamping his hand tight against his jaw as he watched her with squinted eyelids, still leaning against the archway entrance, watching her.
Her eyes remained closed. He saw the way she trembled. He watched her slowly move her hand to peek at him. But when her eyes finally noticed him, she used her hand to cover her eyes once again.
She stamped her foot against the floor. "What are you doing, Mr. Don?" she exclaimed. "You are naked right now, put on some clothes," she said.
He smirked. "But I’m not naked," he said all of a sudden.
He heard her gasp.
"I’m wrapped around with a towel. You are not seeing anything," he said.
"Oh my God!" he heard her grunt.
He chuckled and pushed himself off the wall. Then slowly began to step towards her. "Come on, don’t be shy," he said.
Rosa flinched when she felt him getting close. He stood before her and held her hands.
"Let me go," she said.
He tried to remove her hand away from her eyes. "Come on," he said in a coaxing, childish voice. "Let it go," he said. "Stop being so shy. There is nothing wrong to see. I mean, it’s not like you’ve never seen a naked man before."
Rosa felt her face swell. He pulled her hand away from her eyes. She glared up at him. He saw the redness in her cheeks and grinned.
"Jesus," she said and pulled her hand away from him, stumbling to the side, rubbing her hand vigorously against her shoulders.
What the hell is wrong with him? she thought, blinking rapidly, tilting her head to the side and scratching her neck.
Don chuckled and folded his arms.
"Please just put on some clothes."
He scoffed. "Relax, girl. It’s no big deal," he said. There was seriousness in his voice this time.
Is he kidding me right now? she thought.
"So what are you doing here?" he asked.
"Why do you care?" she asked.
He chuckled. He saw her square her shoulders. She turned around to the side, still avoiding his gaze and walking sideways in a way that she wouldn’t have to gain contact with him. She walked around the chair and began to go in that same manner towards the staircase.
He squinted his eyelids and stared at her, with his head tilted to the side. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"What do you think I’m doing?" she replied to him.
He chuckled and shook his head. "So you really made up your mind, huh?" he asked.
She stopped halfway towards the staircase, but she still didn’t turn around to maintain eye contact with him at all. "What are you talking about?" she asked, with her back to him.
He folded his arms. "I remember you clearly getting angry with me and saying you were going to come back here and, you know, get your luggage. So I was asking, have you made up your mind? Or have you decided to stay?" he said.
She scoffed and shook her head. "You really think too highly of yourself."
"What are you talking about?"
"Never mind," she replied. "I’m here to take my luggages. I meant what I said. I have no intention of staying with you."
He didn’t know why that sentence sent a sharp, piercing jolt through him. The smile on his face faltered.
She’s right, Don, he told himself. You’re supposed to let her go. Just freaking let her go. You’re not supposed to be fighting this.
He swallowed, watching her walk towards the staircase, still avoiding him.
She really meant it, huh? he thought to himself.
He opened his mouth, but then he closed it. Don’t do it, Don, he thought to himself.
He traced her footsteps, saw her finally face the staircase and walk briskly towards it, like she was in a hurry to get out of his sight. The moment her feet stepped onto the first landing of the stairs, he flinched.
"Wait!" he said.
She froze.
Then he closed his eyes and ground his teeth together. Yep, you really couldn’t help yourself, he thought.
He breathed out and looked at her. She didn’t move. Neither did she say anything.
"Any problem?" she asked, with her back to him.
He chuckled and scratched his neck. "I, uh... I was just thinking." He paused. Jeez, what is your problem? Don’t waste your fucking dignity trying to plead with a university student to stay with you. He breathed out.
"I understand. I mean, it’s your choice. You can do whatever you want, but, can’t you just consider it and stay with me? It’s going to be really lonely," he said.
He squinted his eyelids and watched her back. She didn’t say a word. She remained still, like she must have probably been considering it.
Then he saw her flinch and shake her head.
"No," she said quickly.
She continued climbing, and then he stretched both of his hands. "I will buy you brownies," he said all of a sudden.
She froze. She still didn’t turn back to him, but he heard her scoff. "Yeah, right. Not gonna work this time," she said.
She was about to move again.
"How can I make it right?" he said.
He saw her inhale and exhale, her shoulders heaving.
"Please just quit it, Mr. Don. You can’t make anything right."
It should end. Obviously it should. He shouldn’t even be bothering her anymore. But a blood-curdling sensation rippled through him, one he had never been able to control right from time. He clenched his fists tightly. The teasing smile died away from his face. He frowned and clenched his teeth.
"You are not going anywhere," he said all of a sudden.
Rosa froze against the staircase. She felt something hot blustering against her skin. She looked around. The air felt very, very wrong.
The thought to turn around and look at him hit her very badly. But she shook her head.
Why am I having this feeling that a dangerous, dark being is standing behind me? she thought to herself.
For a split second, she twitched her head to turn around. But she closed her eyes and clenched her teeth. No. Don’t do it, Rosa. She kept her focus ahead.
"Watch me," she said.
Then she continued walking, rushing up the staircase without even bothering to look at him.
The sentence felt like a spear through Don’s chest. He flinched, raised both of his eyebrows, with his jaw dropped.
The moment she disappeared from the top of the staircase and walked across the corridor where the rooms were, he chuckled. He closed his eyes and then scoffed, turning his head to the side, shaking his head with disbelief.
"God, fuck!" he groaned and ruffled his fingers through his hair.
That stupid, sharp mouth of hers. That same spirit. That same spirit that has always got me, he thought to himself.
He glanced back at the staircase. Jeez, so fucking hard.
He looked down and saw the tent that was visible through the towel. The visual of her hips when she was climbing the staircase flashed in his mind, the way it swayed against her flay skirt. He blinked.
You are one stupid bloody perv, Don, he thought to himself.
He looked up at the staircase. He shook his head. No, don’t do it.
He crashed back down against the sofa, resting his elbows against his knees, plastering his palm against his forehead. Don’t you even fucking do it. If you do it, you will lose your sanity. You will lose the control you’re supposed to be holding on to. You will lose the battle you’ve tried so perfectly to organize.
He gnashed his teeth together. I can’t believe it. Even after trying my best to avoid her all these years, I just came back and I am still feeling this way. Is it really so inevitable? Do I still have to continue with this torture forever and ever? I can’t keep up with this.
He crashed back against the sofa, tilting his head back and gazed at the ceiling, staring into space and swallowing hard, like he was praying to some divine being with his eyes for guidance. Please just freaking help me, he thought to himself.
Suddenly, a loud thud sound came from upstairs, followed by Rosa yelling.
He jolted up from the seat, his heart racing, his eyes wide. "Rosa!" he called out.
Without caring, he rushed up the staircase with a speed that no human could match. He got to her door and then slammed the door open.
Rosa stood there in only her bra, with her clothes off. Her eyes widened.
His eyes widened as well as shock hit him so hard like a freight train. His face flushed.
"Oh my God!" He quickly turned around.
She grabbed a shirt and wrapped it around her chest, hugging herself tightly.
"What the fuck?" she exclaimed.
