Chapter 45. Sad And Unwilling

Her face stayed pressed against the door, eyes tightened together, teeth gnashing together as she shook her head rapidly, like she was trying her best to erase the thoughts.

Ish, Rosa, she thought to herself. Oh my God!

She pushed away from the door in frustration, squeezing her face. She needed somewhere to bury her head—anywhere, even if it was a very big sink hole. She had totally neglected the fact that her brain had blanked out. A far more dangerous situation was at hand.

She could clearly remember the moment her bra fell from her hand. He clearly saw her nakedness. He definitely saw every bit of her body.

The heat wouldn’t leave her head. The embarrasment about what she saw when his towel dropped made her face heat even more. It felt much like it was about to combust. The blood that had packed itself in her cheeks was enough to fill up a pint. She shook her head quickly, raking her fingers through her hair in frustration, not caring how rough it was.

She crashed back against the bed, staring at the ground. Her face grimaced, breathing hard, her heart thudding so fast in her chest. She blew out a huge breath, blowing away strands of hair that fell over her face.

This is the most embarrassing day of my life, she thought.

She tilted her head to the side. She remembered his teasing remarks, the way he kept trying to rile her up.

Well, he sure got what he wanted. She was totally riled up. She couldn’t think of anything else.

He is shameless, she thought to herself. How the hell am I ever—how the hell am I ever going to feel comfortable enough to face him again?

She gnashed her teeth together. She groaned and raked her fingers through her hair once again in frustration.

Good Lord, she thought. She swallowed hard. He’s a pervert, a fucking bloody pervert. I never expected him to be like this. Since when did he become like this? When did he? Is this how he is?

Jeez, I should have taken my time to get to know about his personality before even thinking of trying to associate with him or whatever. If I stay too long with him, he’s probably going to corrupt my memory, she thought to herself, her face squeezed.

Like you are not already corrupted, that wicked voice in her head whispered, making her flinch.

"Shut up, conscience!" she snapped.

She crashed back against the bed, staring at the ceiling for a few minutes, then she sat up quickly.

Hell no, Rosa. There is no fucking way I’m staying with him. This alone has already proved the amount of wrong that could happen, the potential risk of staying with him. If he could be so shameless to tease her this way, to do only God knew what he did when her mind blanked out after her bra fell, a lot could go down.

A sharp image flashed in her mind: the image of her and Mr. Don entangled together, covered in sweat, breathing hard against his bed. Her eyes widened, her face turning an even darker shade of red. She flinched.

Rosa! she screamed internally. What the fuck are you thinking?!!!!!!!

I should have known. It’s a potential danger for you, a very frightening, terrifying risk.

She glanced down at the room, saw her luggage in various sections.

I am so freaking leaving.

She rushed over towards where her big traveling bag was. She took it out of its neat space and dropped it against the bed. She quickly unzipped it as fast as she could, spreading it open and reaching for the few clothes inside as quickly as she could.

Then she turned around and moved over towards the dull, large wardrobes. Her fingers moved rapidly, swinging each wardrobe door open wide, glancing at the countless clothes, dresses, and accessories she had. She began to take them out one by one as quickly as she could: clothes, underwear, wristwatches, accessories, cosmetics. She bunched them neatly inside her traveling bag.

She stood at the foot of the bed, placing her hand against her waist with a frown, tapping her fingers against her chin. Then she looked around. Am I missing something?

She moved to a cabinet, swung it open, and saw her own separate collection of shoes—the few she had managed to get during the one month she had worked in this villa. She smiled to herself, tilting her head to the side. It had actually felt great to afford nice things for herself for once.

She didn’t waste any more time. She cleared the wardrobe, cleared the reading table, and wiped and erased every single existence of herself in the room. Then, when she was done, she zipped the bag closed quickly, pulled it down from the bed, settled it, and pulled out the handle.

Then she breathed out and looked at the room, her eyes raking everywhere, after ensuring she was dressed.

Well, definitely no two ways about it, she thought to herself. You’re going to miss this place, Rosa.

I will, she told herself. I would be a very huge liar if I told myself I won’t miss this place. But I can’t stay here.

She turned around, tugging at her shirt and pulling it down over her waist as she looked at her exposed thighs sticking out of the denim shorts she was wearing.

Should I wear something that would at least cover myself very well?

Those soft brown eyes of his that stared at her teasingly flashed in her mind. She shook her head.

I can’t have him staring at my body like he wants to have a second round.

She frowned, then pressed her palm against her forehead like she was having a headache.

I can’t imagine this right now. My image of him has already been tarnished, she thought to herself. I freaking can’t believe it.

She rushed out of the room, shut the door as gently as she could, then quickly managed to rush down the stairs, adjusting her backpack against her shoulders and trying to avoid letting her travel bag clatter too much against the stairs.

The moment she got down, strolling casually into the living room, her head darted left and right like she was waiting for Don to appear out of nowhere. She felt a movement and flinched.

She turned and saw him slowly getting up from one of the sofas, a calm, serious expression she did not expect to see on his face. She saw his eyes notice the travel case in her hand. His eyes raked over her body, and an expression she couldn’t explain immediately that resembled sorrow settled on his face.

She frowned, scrutinizing him as she gently stepped closer, standing before him. He was completely dressed now in casual housewear: blue denim jeans trousers and a plain black shirt. His eyebrows instantly furrowed together as he looked at her.

She looked up at him. Neither of them said a word.

Then she breathed out. She extended her hand towards him.

"Here," she said.

Don’s eyes moved towards her hand and saw that she was actually indeed handing over the keys to him. He frowned, staring at the keys before diverting his focus to look back at her.

"So you are leaving for real?" he said.

Rosa tilted her head to the side, a sharp crease on her forehead. There was something about the way he was staring at her—like he didn’t want her to go, like he was reluctant. It was just like the way he had been fighting earlier, pleading with her that he would be lonely with nobody to stay with him.

She thought, Is he really so sad and unwilling to let me go?
