Chapter 62. Not Adding up

"Oh my God, Don." Her murmurs, soft whispers of ecstasy, flooded his mind.

He felt the strength that he had always held onto—the strength that usually tethered him to reality and pulled him back whenever he was diving deep into his own doom—snapping this time. He was losing it.

"Oh my God," he groaned. His lips traced against her neck, moving down toward her chest as his hands gripped her skin of her bosom.

She arched her back against the bed, her eyelids fluttering. She moaned.

"That’s it. Show me just how much you’re craving me," he whispered into her ear.

The memory just wouldn’t stop.

" Quit it, Don!!" A sharp voice in his mind kept shouting at him. "You are going too far!!"

He squeezed her even more, grinding himself down harder. The heat all over was so intense that his mind felt ready to combust.

Oh God, he thought.

"I have waited so long," he murmured against her skin, sliding his lips to the space between her mountain peaks. He grabbed the straps of her clothing and pulled them down with intent, kissing her skin and tasting the sensitive flesh of her breasts.

Her eyelids fluttered. She grabbed his hair, pressing his face down against her chest. "I need more," she whispered.

"Oh my God," he groaned. His hand slid underneath the hem of her gown, caressing her bare skin beneath.

"Oh my God... Don... Mr. Don..." Her voice suddenly shifted, becoming weirdly odd.

He frowned.

"Mr. Don," she cried. It was shaky, trembling, filled with a mixture of fear, anticipation, and arousal. "Mr. Don, what are you doing? Please, wait."

The memory instantly vanished, disconnecting. It felt like a heavy snap deep down within him, and he froze all of a sudden.

His eyes snapped wide. He jerked, now realizing at that his face was just a few inches away from her exposed breast, staring him right in the face. He flushed for a second, unable to understand. He blinked, then slowly traced his eyes up to look at Rosa’s face.

Her face was painted bright red. Her eyes were hazy, wide, and cold sweat dripped down her glistening skin. Her mouth hung slightly open as her chest heaved heavily, panting like she had just run a marathon. She stared at him in sheer disbelief, as if she couldn’t process what he had just done.

His eyes finally moved downward, realizing he had actually pulled down the straps of her dress. Her breasts were completely exposed, her pink nipples glistening with his saliva—hard, erect, and begging for more.

Oh my fucking God, he thought.

He faltered and trembled, his eyelids fluttering as embarrassment hit him square in the chest. He quickly began to pull away from her. "Um, I... I just..." He stumbled over his words. "I will... I will go. I will go and get your luggage," he stammered, scrambling to pull himself back.

That was when he realized her legs were wrapped tightly around his waist. He blinked.

She realized it at the same moment. Quickly, she untangled her legs from his waist and dropped them to the side.

He tried to pull away again, but froze once more. There was still one tiny detail.

Both of them turned their eyes down to see her hand still gripping his shirt tightly, holding onto him as if she didn’t want him to go. She noticed, her face flushing an even deeper shade of red. She quickly jerked her hand away from his shirt and brought it down to her side, her eyes darting left and right in confusion to avoid his gaze.

"I’m so sorry," she said quickly, her breathing still hoarse. She avoided his eyes and scratched at her neck.

Don froze for a few moments, his eyes lingering on her face. He frowned.

Oh, fuck you, Don.

Then his eyes caught her expression—the embarrassment, the deep red on her cheeks, the way her hairline flushed, and the redness painting down her neck. He couldn’t keep the amusement away.

Oh my God, this amazingly, devastatingly beautiful little thing, he thought. Just...

He stopped his thoughts in their tracks. Enough thinking, Don. Get the fuck out of here, his consciousness snapped at him.

He shook his head, pulled away completely, and rushed out of the room, slamming the door shut without caring if it broke off its hinges.

The moment he was gone, Rosa quickly dug at her clothing, pulling the straps back up over her shoulders and covering herself. Her eyes remained wide as she stared to the side, panting hard. Her heart wouldn’t stop—it maintained a painful rhythm, thumping against her ribcage like it was desperate to escape. It genuinely ached.

She turned to her side, wrapping her arms around her chest, finding it excessively hard to breathe.

Oh my God, she thought. One would assume she had just run three miles nonstop without catching a break.

What the fuck? What the fuck was that? She squeezed her eyes shut, wrapping her arms even tighter around her chest.

Oh my God. Why is my heart still beating so fast?

What was all that for? Why did he do that? The lingering feeling of his wet lips against her nipples stayed. And it didn’t feel like it was leaving anytime soon.

FUCK!!!!

Meanwhile, outside the room, Don was leaning against the wall beside the door, his back pressed against it. His eyes were wide, staring into space as his conscience knocked endlessly against his skull.

You are failing, Don, he exclaimed to himself in his thoughts. You are freaking failing.

"Jesus," he muttered, pressing his palm against his forehead as an intense headache surged through him. He crashed back against the wall, resting his head against it with his eyes closed, facing the ceiling.

"Breathe," he told himself softly. "Breathe. Fucking breathe." He tilted his head to the side, his chest heaving.

The image wouldn’t leave his head. Oh my God.

He lifted his hand and grabbed his hair. I can’t believe I did that. She must think I’m a stupid, psychotic pervert.

He groaned and slapped his palm repeatedly against his forehead. You are stupid, Don. You are fucking stupid. Oh my God.

He turned around, pressing his face against the wall. What the hell is she going to think of you now?

He pushed away from the wall with a frown, staring straight ahead.

Okay, I’m glad it didn’t go too far, right? he thought. But the image of her exposed breast flashed in his mind, and though the sensation running through him was powerful, a wrong feeling lurked in the pit of his stomach.

He pinched the bridge of his nose for a few moments. "You are so stupid," he murmured.

He turned around and began walking down the hallway toward the staircase. He stepped down the stairs slowly, the thoughts continuing to invade his mind and torment him over and over.

When he reached the living room, he stopped, raking his fingers through his hair. Sweet Jesus!

Just as he was about to walk back toward the sofa to grab her stuff, he heard his phone vibrating across the room. He stopped and looked around, spotting it on the dining table.

Changing direction, he walked over to the dining table and stood before it, a deep frown creasing his forehead. He stared at the screen to see an incoming call from his assistant.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down, picked up the phone, and swiped the green icon to answer.

He placed the phone against his ear.

"Hello, Mr. Don?" his assistant’s voice came through the speaker—composed, official, and clipped.

"Yes, what is it?" he replied, maintaining the authoritative tone he always used with his employees.

"So, I did everything you requested. Um, I’ve gotten all the info you need concerning miss Rosa Lin."

"Okay," Don murmured. He rested against the pillar in the archway that separated the living room from the dining room, folding his arms as he kept the phone pressed to his ear. "Go on, I’m listening."

"Okay, so from what I can see here," his assistant continued, "Miss Rosa Lin as an orphan, was sponsored by the Lee Foster Foundation upheld by the Lee family. You should know them, right?"

"Of course I know them. Go ahead," Don said.

"Okay, so the Lee family are also the top major sponsors of this institute. They’ve been upholding the school financially and manipulating most of its educational policies for quite some time now. They stipulated a new sponsorship program aimed at boosting the standard of the institute. And well... it brought about a reduced deadline for the payment of school fees to the first week of every semester. It was previously the first day of the second month. And it also brought about an increase in the school fees—to over six hundred thousand dollars."

Don frowned the moment those words were spoken. "Six hundred thousand dollars? I thought it was one hundred and fifty thousand dollars previously."

"Of course it was."

"Why go that high?" Don asked.

"I don’t know, sir. We can’t question the Lee family; they are the ones in charge of these things. We can try to question their motives, but one wrong move could make them withdraw, and if that happens, a lot of things could go bad in the school. The Lee family are sponsors the school can’t afford to lose, so we’re at a dead end here," he explained.

Don’s frown deepened. "Hmm. I ses. That’s very weird. But anyways, keep telling me more about Rosa Lin’s school fees. I want to ask something. Has her fee for this semester been paid?"

"Concerning miss Rosa Lin’s school fee, we would have expected that since she was being sponsored by the Lee family, her school fees would have been paid by now—especially since the deadline was moved up. But I’m surprised to see that it hasn’t been paid yet."

Don blinked. "It hasn’t? Why?"

"I have no idea, sir," his assistant replied.

Don tilted his head to the side, his brow furrowed. Something wasn’t adding up.

This was completely off. Why hadn’t they paid her fees up to this moment? It was supposed to have been paid even before the semester began, before anyone even thought of resuming.

A sudden thought flashed in his mind. Could they be planning something big ? He wondered, raising an eyebrow.

What’s with the sudden increase in school fees and shifting the deadline to within two days? Nothing was adding up.
