Anna awoke groggily to beeping hospital equipment.

Her senses returned, and Stefan’s face swam into view.

"W-what happened?" asked Anna, her throat dry.

"You came home, acting strange, and then you passed out. I rushed you here to a hospital, and they pumped a nasty cocktail of methamphetamines and hormone blocking drugs out of your system. I want an explanation. Now," said Stefan, his voice low and hard.

Anna realized she was in psychiatric restraints, and turned her face away from him.

"Anna. I’m not angry with you. I just want to know where you got the drugs," said Stefan.

"I’m not Anna. I’m Blue Kitaro, pronouns they, them," said Anna resolutely, as the memory of the last few hours came rushing back:

She had come home from school, and had decided to come out properly to Stefan and Maria about her new identity.

Stefan had refused to acknowledge it, and had grounded her, pending a transfer to St. Ignatius Academy, as Maria tried to calm him down.

Her memory after that, was gone.

"I see. I don’t want to do this, but you leave me no choice," said Stefan, rising and opening the door.

A tall priest, with silver hair and a black cassock entered the room, while Stefan left.

"Who the fuck are you? A shrink?" asked Anna.

"Oh no my dear. I’m not a shrink, as you call them. I’m something far worse," said the priest in a German accent, with an ominous sparkle in his gray eyes.

Anna recoiled in fear, as Fr. Viktor Goering set a sleek black leather briefcase on the bed, and pulled out a leather-bound bible, a large silver crucifix, a large glass bottle of holy water, and several smaller medicine bottles and syringes.

"What’s all that for?" asked Anna, eyeing the items suspiciously.

"This here is truth serum. Less fun than beating the truth out of you in a torture chamber, but far more effective," said Fr. Viktor, loading up a syringe.

"No! No! Help!" screamed Anna struggling against her restraints.

"Oh, hush! This thing is painless, and doesn’t have any nasty side effects, unlike those pills you were taking. That is unless you lie," said Fr. Viktor, injecting the liquid into her IV drip.

"You’re killing me! Daddy! Help!" screamed Anna.

Fr. Viktor waited until Anna stopped screaming, and settled for crying.

"Now then. Where did you get the pills?" he asked her.

"Not telling," sniffled Anna.

"Do you know what those pills are?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"They’re hormone blockers," sniffled Anna.

"Who told you that?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"Not telling!" said Anna.

"How many have you taken, Anna?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"Been taking a strip a week! I’m Blue Kitaro!" screamed Anna.

"Do you know what this is?" asked Fr. Viktor holding up the crucifix.

"A cross?" asked Anna uncertainly.

"This is a special crucifix, used to treat demonic possession," said Fr. Viktor.

"Fuck you! There’s no such thing!" shouted Anna.

In response, Fr. Viktor touched the crucifix to Anna’s hand.

Anna screamed as electricity coursed through her fingers.

"Now, then. I wish to speak to Anna Stanislaus, not Blue Kitaro. Who gave you the pills?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"Ester," sniffled Anna pathetically.

"I see. Now, let me inform you of what exactly you have been taking, in an attempt to delay the inevitable. Those pills were methamphetamines mixed with chemicals that block human growth hormones, but regulate estrogen and progesterone. They are designed be addictive, and to keep you looking like a child permanently, but you will eventually still get those pesky periods," said Fr. Viktor.

"So they don’t work?" asked Anna.

"Not in the way you think. They don’t stop you from becoming a woman, but they will stop you from looking like one. You’ve seen what a fully grown woman looks like haven’t you? They have breasts, they are taller than you, and they have wider hips. That’s what those pills are stopping, not your periods or the ability to give birth," said Fr. Viktor.

"But I don’t wanna be a woman," sniffled Anna.

"And why not? Your friend Mikaela is becoming one, and she’s not making a fuss. Your teacher, Ms. Washington is a woman, and she’s not complaining about a perfectly natural process. Do you stop eating and drinking because you don’t want to go to the bathroom?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"But I’m gonna bleed!" screamed Anna.

"We all bleed! We are flesh and blood! And what you’ll soon find, is that process is not as cracked up as you think it is," thundered Fr. Viktor.

"Fuck you! I’ve read what happens. I don’t wanna deal with cramps, and pads, and mood swings every month!" screamed Anna.

"That is what growing up is about. This isn’t Neverland, Anna. People grow, plants grow, animals grow. You cannot stay in denial. Just as you learned how to speak that foul language, think, and manage yourself in a bathroom, you’ll learn to manage this. Besides, it has its perks as well," said Fr. Viktor, softening, and adopting a more gentle tone.

"What perks?" asked Anna, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"The superpower to create a living being, right inside you. You’re old enough to know that babies don’t just magically appear. Have you ever heard of a man giving birth? But more than that, you get to be a woman, fall in love, and be loved. Have you heard of the story of Helen of Troy?" asked Fr. Viktor.

"No, I haven’t heard," said Anna.

"Helen of Troy, is also known as the woman whose face launched a thousand ships. She was considered the most beautiful woman in all of Ancient Greece. Her husband, the king of Sparta in Greece, found out that she was cheating on him with the prince of Troy, and so he and the rest of the Greek kings started a war that lasted ten long years, and resulted in the destruction of Troy, all to get her back. Now do you see what womanhood does? Not only does it give you the power to create a life, but it can also drive men mad. It is a beautiful and dangerous force of nature, the very essence of what preserves and continues the human race. Yes, you can avoid childbirth, and be a career woman these days, but that power is still very much in you. Waiting to be unlocked," said Fr. Viktor.

"B-but gender theory says there’s a spectrum," protested Anna.

"What do you know about gender theory, little one? Gender may be a spectrum, but raw biology says otherwise. Regardless of what you think you are, your body is that of a girl, and it is growing into a woman. Yes, there are procedures and even legitimate medicines to change that. But you need to go into those knowing full-well about yourself, and with the maturity to know that those procedures are irreversible. Gender identity isn’t like a costume or a piece of clothing you can put on or discard on a whim. That is why you need to be a full-grown adult to make that decision. Until then, enjoy your growing years, and don’t worry," said Fr. Viktor.

"So what? I’m supposed to just let shit happen?" asked Anna.

"For now? Yes. Anna, you’re terrified of the pain. I understand that, but the cure for that are painkillers prescribed by your doctor, not mystery pills given to you by your peers. Yes, changes in your body and appearance can be terrifying, but it is something that must be faced, not run away from. Once you have gone through the process of growing up, if you still feel that you are Blue Kitaro, and not Anna Stanislaus, then, and only then, can you apply for gender-affirming treatments. Like I said, those are permanent, so you need to be sure, from a place of calm, and not from fear," said Fr. Viktor.

"What’s wrong with doing them now?" asked Anna.

"You not being a full grown-up is what is wrong with doing them now. Those are meant to change you after you’ve fully grown, and decided that you are not a woman. You can’t decide something like that without knowing what it will feel like. I didn’t wake up one day and decide to be a priest. It was something that I had to think long and hard about, and then I couldn’t just go out and buy a cassock. I had to undergo years of rigorous training and rituals to ensure that it was what I really wanted. That is the same principle that gender theory is based on. You may decide that you are not a woman, but only after you have experienced what it is to be a woman first," said Fr. Viktor.

"Ugh! Fine! I’ll be Anna, for now," grumbled Anna, sinking back into the bed.

"Good girl. I shall inform your father," said Fr. Viktor, packing up his briefcase.

---

"Well?" asked Stefan, as Fr. Viktor came out of the room.

"She’s accepted to wait until adulthood to transition, for now. But you still need to tackle the source of her influence," said Fr. Viktor.

"Who gave her the drugs?" asked Stefan, a dangerous glint in his eye.

"A peer named Ester. However, that doesn’t prove malice. Teenagers are gullible to a fault, which is why they can’t make such decisions in the first place. We need to trace those drugs to their source. I’ve seen such medications in circulation before. This smacks of a grooming network. They groom young girls into sex slavery and prostitution for those with more unsavory tastes," said Fr. Viktor.

"I’ll get the SZPD to investigate," growled Stefan.

"Later. Right now, Anna needs your support as a father," said Fr. Viktor firmly.

"OK," said Stefan, and he calmed down with deep breaths, and opened the door.

---

"Daddy?" asked Anna, as Stefan came into the room.

"It has been a while since you called me that. How are you feeling?" said Stefan, sitting by Anna’s bed, and gently stroking her arm.

"Lousy," said Anna.

"Well, the good news is the doctors say there has been no permanent damage. They flushed out the drugs, and they’ve given you treatments to get your body to heal itself," said Stefan.

"That scary-ass priest said they didn’t work. Was he lying?" asked Anna.

"No, Fr. Viktor wasn’t lying. Those pills were indeed dangerous. The doctors confirmed it," said Stefan.

"I just wanted to stop from getting periods," sighed Anna.

"I know. I know you have been scared about them, and I’ve tried to comfort you, but it came to this mess," sighed Stefan.

"Yeah, well, they still sound scary, but Fr. Viktor was way scarier," said Anna with a shudder.

"He does have that effect on people. But he’s not so bad once you get to know him" chuckled Stefan, which caused Anna to giggle.

"Daddy? I’m sorry. I know I’ve been driving you crazy lately," said Anna.

"It’s OK. Part of that is my fault too, for prioritizing Ivan’s and Mikaela’s case like that," sighed Stefan.

"Wait, what’s the date? Isn’t it Mikaela’s birthday today?" asked Anna.

"Yes. I told Ms. Washington to go, and pass on our regrets for not attending. Besides, you tore up the invitation because it said you had to wear a dress, remember?" asked Stefan.

"Oh yeah, I remember now. I can’t believe I got so angry over that. Ugh! Now I feel even worse, thinking about how dumb I was," sighed Anna.

"Yes, well. We all go through things, don’t worry," said Stefan, unlocking Anna’s restraints, and giving her a warm hug.

After what seemed an eternity, Stefan let go.

"Get some sleep. I’ll see if we can get out of her tomorrow," he said, and left.

---

"OK, Fr. Viktor. I’m not complaining, but what did you do to my daughter?" asked Stefan.

"A little therapy, that’s all. By the way, she is deficient in vitamins D and B12. I injected them under the guise of giving her truth serum," said Fr. Viktor, showing Stefan the reports.

"Yeah well, that’s thanks to her damn veganism," grumbled Stefan.

"You’ll need to give her oral supplements in that case. It explains a good deal of her acting out," said Fr. Viktor.

"How so?" asked Stefan.

"Those vitamins aid in the production of regulatory hormones. Deficiency in them can cause depression, anxiety and other messiness," said Fr. Viktor.

"I see. Well, thank you for your help, Father. I’m truly grateful," said Stefan.

"From a theological perspective, I also recommend regular Sunday Mass, and Sunday School. For the daughter of a practicing Roman Catholic, she is woefully ignorant of her own religion. She barely recognized the crucifix and the bible," said Fr. Viktor.

"She’s refused to come to church," sighed Stefan.

"A trend I’m all too familiar with. However, it is something I strongly suggest in her case if you don’t want to deal with further complications. Religious conviction can be useful to fill the void in her, instead of the kind of indoctrination that pushed her into this mess the first place," said Fr. Viktor.

"I’ll try, Fr. Viktor. Thank you once again," said Stefan.
