Skyrim: Orebane

Chapter 123: Annihilation

Unlike that pathetic single burst of flame that you could use in the game my fire breath shout was just like a dragons. A prolonged expelling of white hot pressurized flames that rolled over the soldiers rushing into the passage like water rushing into an absence. The stone walls of the passage and sands of it's floor melted into molten rock and glass while the soldiers simply burnt away before they could even scream. The flames then rushed out of the far end of the passage in a violent expansion and dissipation that cut off after only about fifteen seconds as my lungs were emptied and I gasped for air.-

I cast a [blizzard] spell to rapidly cool the passage again while I regained my breath. The soldiers, what was left anyways, did not dare enter the passage after witnessing about sixty of their comrades get turned to ash in a split second. Instead they split into two groups and blocked the entrances to the passage. They were going to starve me out. Or that was the commanders idea more likely than not. I wasn't going to play along. -

Using my now roughly half regenerated magicka pool I started sprinting but with my legs lifted far higher than needed. Or at least it appeared that way until I started putting [levitate] platforms under my lifted feet making me run vertically over the stone walls of the passage. I spun as I rushed over the mouth of the passage and while letting my momentum carry me backwards launched a full power she` hai slash at the bunched up soldiers at the mouth of the passage. The world seemed to scream as the rainbow blade tore through the air and erased everything for roughly twenty meters after hitting the sand and stone behind the soldiers.-

'I understand.' I thought as a flash of enlightenment hit me.

A moment later another metaphysical chain popped loose as I felt my swordsmanship reach completion and push beyond it. Into the realm of skill that existed only for those legendary existences. It was not as simple as just fully mastering a skill but touching upon the very concept of the idea. A step towards the divine with it past the threshold that a peak mortal may reach normally.-

Instantly the she` hai of my blade stopped humming violently and started to settle into a dull ordered thrum very much like that of the one I felt on the blade of the other sword singer in my possession. I finally understood why my own felt so rough by comparison. I was creating it through sheer spiritual strength and the fact part of my soul was a literal blade. I hadn't reached it naturally so I couldn't exert it in the way someone who had would be able. Now however I had reached it. I had reached level one hundred in my swordsmanship skill and pushed beyond it. A quick check of my status screen proved as much.-

'So transcendent is what lies beyond mastery for the skills that can be pushed that far.' I thought with an amazed sigh.

As much as I wanted to focus on this profound discovery and change the Thalmor commander was not blind, deaf or dumb. The annihilation of this side of the passages forces was an obvious thing and the fact a good quarter of the passage had been forcefully widened by my attack was no different. He sent all of these remaining seventy something soldiers rushing me from the passage and the sides.-

"I admit that if nothing else you aren't a bunch of cowards! Come! Meet your end!" I roared as I rushed into the passage to cut down those there first.

My body moved like a mirage, a blur of sight that existed outside mortal comprehension as my sword reaped lives. I chose not to let my sword turn the slains souls into filled gems as while they were my enemies I wouldn't damn them to the ideal masters. That said the other enchantments on my blade were allowed to shine fully as each cut left behind ice, burns and other nastiness while simultaneously feeding me the stamina stolen from those cut or stabbed.-

I moved through these soldiers like they were wheat for the harvest parrying or flat out cleaving through their weapons without any sign of slowing down. The commander joined his soldiers and didn't die instantly. Clearly he had some skill to his name and the black color of his Warhammer made it so I couldn't just kill him by cutting through it. His face was one of grim rage like the snarl of a beast as he tried to stop me from killing more of his men. The moment I understood he'd be a slightly tougher nut to crack I flat out left him behind to focus on the small fry.-

I'm fairly certain that pushed him into the red for his anger as the veins on his face bulged grotesquely as he roared like a savage beast and doggedly chased after me. He must have developed tunnel vision because by the time I actually got to dealing with him he didn't even seem to realize he was alone. I had killed every other soldier I saw up and about. As for whether any of them were playing dead? Nothing I could do about that. There was simply too many fresh bodies.-

A whole thousand in fact. There wasn't a [detect life] spell in existence that would be able to figure out alive from dead in such a vast quantity of spilled lifeforce. That was fine though. I had already known that my power would be getting leaked eventually and if nothing else this may even convince the Thalmor to leave me alone for a while. While the Thalmor could absolutely drown me in bodies it wasn't cost effective to do so after this gets out. I wiped out basically an entire regional regiment of soldiers which was a MASSIVE wound for the Thalmor who were already struggling to recover from the great war.
